Chapter 33 Clara rushed to the police station to find Sasha sitting in the interrogation room with handcuffs around her wrists. Despite the situation, Sashaâs expression was cool and collected as she spoke to the officer across from her, vigorously defending herself without a hint of fear.
Clara strode over and asked politely, âHello, officer. Iâm her friend. Whatâs going on here?â
Before the officer could respond, Sasha interjected, âAfter you vanished yesterday, Anders went to get his dad to help you out, leaving me all by myself. I figured you mustâve gone to confront that jerk, feeling upset and heading to a bar to drown your sorrows.â
âBy chance, I saw Heidi there too, gloating and gossiping about Mr. Casey. You shouldâve seen the smug look on her face. I couldnât hold back and I gave her a piece of my mind. I only threw some words her way, but this morning, they dragged me here, claiming Heidiâs car got smashed and suspecting Iâm to blame. No matter how much I explained, they just wouldnât listen.â
H At the mention of Heidi, Clara clenched her fists tightly. She didnât need to guess. This was typical of Heidiâs tactics, the same kind she had used against Clara.
Claraâs eyes, which should have been beautiful, turned icy in an instant. Her voice lost all the warmth it had when she first arrived. âDo you have any evidence that my friend did this?â
âWe found one of your friendâs earrings by Heidiâs car, matching the one sheâs wearing. Thereâs also a witness, that woman over there. She claims she saw Sasha smashing the car with her own eyes.â
Claraâs gaze shot towards the woman. With just a glance, Clara felt her whole body freeze. The womanâs face had aged, but Clara recognized her instantly. A cold sweat broke out on Claraâs back as she clenched her fists tighter. Her eyes darkened as she glared at the woman.
Sasha, sensing something was off, grabbed Claraâs hand and asked, âClara, do you know her?â
Snapped out of her shock, Clara shook her head with a quivering voice, âNo, I donât.â
âThatâs a relief. I wonât let Hejdi get away with this. It wasnât enough for her to bully you, now she dares to mess with me? Iâll see to it that sheâs ruined. And that woman, Iâll sue her too.â
Just as Sasha finished speaking, Heidiâs voice could be heard from outside. âIan, I honestly didnât know Ms. Sasha was Ms.
Claraâs friend. If I had known, none of this wouldâve happened. Itâs just a car worth a bit over a million, no big deal. Iâll just have daddy buy me another one. Letâs not make Ms. Clara feel uncomfortable. Letâs just drop the whole thing, I withdraw my complaint.â
Clara turned to see lan approaching, dressed head to toe in somber black, his expression as chilly as the grave. Heidi was at his side, clutching at his sleeve.
Seeing this scene again, Clara thought sheâd feel the heartache of the past, but now, she felt nothing at all.
Claraâs face remained impassive as they walked over. Sasha, on the other hand, was livid, glaring at lan and cursing, âYou bastard! You cheated on my friend. Damn you! I hope your dick will never get hard!â
lanâs eyes scanned Clara, as if searching for some sign of the emotion he desired, but even after a long while, he saw nothing of the sort.
Suddenly feeling a tightness in his chest, he leaned over and whispered into Claraâs ear. âWhy donât you tell her if my dick is hard or not?â
