Unraveling

A/N: Hii I stopped doing the song thing because let's be honest who's really listening to other peoples music 🌝

The morning after felt unreal.

Mia had barely slept, her mind still reeling from the intensity of the night before. The kiss. The dangerous promises hidden in Lorenzo's words.

She couldn't shake the feeling that everything she thought she knew was slowly slipping through her fingers.

Her apartment was eerily quiet as she stood in front of her bathroom mirror, brushing her teeth, trying to calm the storm raging in her mind. But the more she tried to focus on something mundane, the more his face haunted her.

Mia had been around men her whole life—men who were dangerous, unpredictable, and often cruel. She knew how to handle them. How to keep a safe distance, how to push back when necessary.

But Lorenzo?

He was something entirely different.

She rinsed her mouth, wiping away the last remnants of toothpaste, but her reflection was like a stranger's. There was a part of her—a huge part—that was afraid of where this could lead.

And yet...

And yet, every time she thought about him, she couldn't deny the pull, the magnetism that made her stomach flip and her heart race.

She cursed herself for being so weak, for letting him get under her skin. She wasn't supposed to be the type of woman who fell for men like him.

The knock on her door shattered her thoughts.

Mia froze.

It couldn't be him. Not after last night.

But the voice that followed made her blood run cold.

"It's me," Lorenzo called from the other side.

Of course it was him.

Mia grabbed her robe and slipped it on, though she had no idea why she was bothering. What was the point in pretending she was unaffected by him anymore?

She opened the door slowly, bracing herself.

Lorenzo stood there, looking like he had just walked out of a high-end fashion magazine—dark, crisp suit, perfectly tailored. But beneath the pristine exterior was a man who carried a storm within him, and Mia was beginning to realize she wasn't sure if she wanted to weather it or run from it.

"You're here early," she said, her voice steady even though her heart was pounding in her chest.

Lorenzo raised an eyebrow. "I wanted to make sure you were okay."

Mia's eyes narrowed. "I'm fine. I don't need you checking up on me."

He didn't flinch. "You don't have to say it out loud, but I know you don't believe that."

She felt her pulse quicken. "I don't need anyone, especially not you."

Lorenzo's gaze darkened, and he stepped closer, towering over her. "You've never needed anyone, Mia. But that doesn't change what's going on between us."

She sucked in a breath. "What is going on between us, Lorenzo? Because I don't have a damn clue."

A slow smile spread across his lips—too slow, too knowing. He knew exactly how much he had her twisted up inside.

"I'm not going to lie to you, Mia," he said, his voice low. "I want you. I've wanted you from the moment I saw you. But I'm not just here to take something from you."

The words hung in the air, heavy and dangerous. "What does that mean?"

Lorenzo stepped even closer, his presence almost overwhelming. "It means you're not just some girl I'm playing with. You're more than that. I see something in you that I don't see in anyone else. And I'm not letting go."

Mia's breath hitched. Her chest felt tight, like she was suffocating under the weight of his words.

"I don't know what you want from me, but this isn't me, Lorenzo. This whole... whatever it is between us—it's not me," she said, her voice trembling despite her best efforts to remain calm.

He looked at her, his expression unreadable. "It's not supposed to be easy. Nothing about this is supposed to be easy. But I'm not giving up."

Mia shook her head, stepping back. "Then you're just as crazy as they say you are."

His lips twitched. "Maybe. But so are you."

And just like that, the wall Mia had built around herself cracked, ever so slightly.

She had no idea what she was getting herself into. But for the first time, the idea of not knowing what came next felt more exciting than terrifying.

The question was, would she survive whatever this was between them?
