Being a girl, Dipali knew where Madhu would have run off to, the restroom. She opens the restroom and sure enough there she was standing near the wash basin crying.
"You alright, Madhu?" Dipali asks her.
Madhu quickly wipes her tears and looks at her, "Who are you? And how do you know me?"
"I saw you dance with RK." Dipali replies.
Hearing his name Madhu looks away as tears stung her eyes again. Dipali grabs the tissue and passes it to her. "Thanks." Madhu mutters as she took the tissue and started wiping her eyes. "You are Rishu's friend?" Madhu asks composing herself.
"Girlfriend or you could say fiance." Dipali says flashing the ring on her finger.
"Fiance?" Madhu asks shocked, he never mentioned anything about a fiance. He said he was in a relation and it was not serious. Maybe he didn't want to hurt her and might have not told her that.
"Congratulations." Madhu tells her as she wiped her tears.
"Oh, it is not official yet. We were waiting for our course to get over. Then only we'll be telling his family." Dipali tells her.
"Still..." Madhu says looking away.
"Thank you." Dipali says smiling at her.
"Dipali right? You are in his college?" Madhu asks.
"You know my name?" Dipali asks smiling.
"Yeah, he mentioned you." Madhu tells her.
"Really? He loves talking about me." Dipali says smiling.
"What did he say about me?"
"That he is in a relation with you." Madhu tells her.
Dipali smiles at her, "And yes, we are in the same college but he is my senior."
Madhu nods.
"Why were you crying?" Dipali asks her.
"Nothing important." Madhu says shrugging.
"If you want you can talk to me." Dipali offers.
"Thanks." Madhu says smiling but doesn't say anything more. Her cell starts ringing and Madhu picks up noticing it was Sultan. "Yeah Sultan... No... not with Rishu... I am coming with you... I am ready to go... ok I'll meet you there. " Madhu says hanging up.
Dipali looks at her curiously, "Rishu?"
"I was supposed to go home with him, but I think he would rather spend some time with you. So I told Sultan I'll go home with him."
"Oh! That is very sweet of you." Dipali says smiling and Madhu smiles at her.
"I'll see you tomorrow at the function. We have lots to prepare before the wedding." Madhu tells her as she started to leave from there.
"You are helping with the preparations?" Dipali asks curiously.
"My family's function and I should take part in the preparations right?" Madhu asks her smiling.
"Your family?" Dipali asks frowning.
"Yes, they are my family now. I stay with them after my parents passed away. Hasn't Rishu ever mentioned about me?" Madhu asks unable to hide her curiosity.
"No." Dipali says.
Madhu quickly looks away somehow that hurt more than his rejection.
Dipali was trying to hide her fury, RK was living with this Madhu in the same house and he didn't tell me that? Quickly thinking she says, "HEY! That's great. Even I'm staying at RK's place only."
"Really?" Madhu asks shocked, he never mentioned anything like that.
"Yeah, he wouldn't let me stay in a hotel saying it is not safe for a girl to stay alone." Dipali says chuckling.
And that Madhu believed.
"What did she say?" RK asks Sultan.
"She said she will be coming home with me." Sultan tells him.
"I still can't believe it." RK says running his hand through his hair.
"I can't believe you send your girlfriend to check on her!" Sultan tells him furiously.
"I was worried about her. What else could I have done? She told me to leave her alone!" RK tells him getting angry again, he had hurt Madhu and that was killing him.
"So, you send your girlfriend after her? You could have asked me to check on her or mom, but you had to send your girlfriend!" Sultan angrily tells him.
"I was worried about her and I asked the first person I found to check on her."
"Of all the people in the world your girlfriend? Do you realize what Madhu would feel if she realizes that you had asked your girlfriend to console her because you f***ing broke her heart?"
"I don't need this!" RK says furiously. "I never realized that she was misunderstanding my gestures. I don't have to feel guilty about it but I am. So, don't add more guilt into it."
"FINE!" Sultan says and starts walking towards Dipali when he spots her. "Where is she?"
"At the front waiting for you." Dipali tells him.
Sultan nods and walks off. Dipali walks towards RK.
"How is she?" RK asks her.
"Fine. She went home." Dipali tells him.
"Thanks, Dipali. Come I'll drop you to your hotel." RK tells her.
"What hotel?" Dipali asks acting shocked.
"Aren't you staying at a hotel?" RK asks frowning.
"No... I thought I was staying at your place."
"My place? Why would you think like that?" RK asks shocked.
"Because you invited me for your brother's wedding and I assumed I would be staying at your place since I was the only girl invited." Dipali tells him.
"Only girl who came. Others didn't come because of the exams and I assumed you girls all would be staying together. Anyways leave it; I'll get you a room here." RK says and starts walking towards the hotel.
"Why can't I stay at your place?" Dipali asks pissed.
"How can you stay at my place?"
"You expect me to stay in a hotel alone?"
"Alone? There are going to be thousands of people around here." RK says shaking his head.
"I am scared. You know the dangers of a girl staying in a hotel alone." Dipali says.
"Nothing is going to happen to you, Dipali."
"I am scared, RK." Dipali tells him.
RK sighs in defeat. "Fine! But don't tell my family that you are my girlfriend. Just tell them you are my friend." RK says and walk off.
"What now?" Sultan asks as RK barge into his room.
"Dipali is staying here!" RK informs him.
Sultan sighs dramatically, "What are you doing, Rishu?"
"I don't know. She insisted on staying here. I convinced dad and mom saying that she was the only girl who had come and she was scared to stay in a hotel alone, which is true." RK tells him.
"Anyway, she is staying here. So let it be." Sultan says.
"But after what you told me I realize that if Madhu sees Dipali, she will get hurt."
"There is nothing we can do now, Rishu. Let it be." Sultan tells him in a reasonable tone.
"Why can't Dipali just stay in a hotel? Who is going to eat her up?" RK asks furiously as he paced the room.
Sultan watches him in shock and finally says, "You are such a hypocrite."
"What?" RK furiously turns to him.
"Would you have ever let Madhu to stay in a hotel alone?"
"Are you mad? Of course not!" RK says irritated.
"But you expect Dipali to stay alone." Sultan states.
RK looks at him in shock.
"Don't you think you should worry about that a little? You are more worried about Madhu than your girlfriend?" Sultan asks him.
"Madhu is more important! Dipali and I just started dating. I don't even know what her favorite color is!"
Sultan sighs again.
"I don't want anyone to get hurt. Especially Madhu." RK tells Sultan.
Sultan rubs his face in irritation. "You know what your problem is, Rishu?"
"What?" RK asks.
"There is so much love in your heart but you care for only a handful of people. So you worry about them a little over too much. Your care and worry for them go a little overboard. Too much love and a very few people to give it to, each person is going to get abundance of it than they deserve and tend to misunderstand like in the case of Madhu. So start caring for more people and even it out."
RK looks at Sultan in shock and says "that made absolutely no sense. And that definitely is not the solution to this situation."
"I am sorry, tomorrow is my wedding. My fiance is pregnant. I need to find an appropriate time to break the news of my impending fatherhood to our families. So please forgive me if I am not giving your petty problems as much as my attention as it deserves." Sultan tells him.
RK looks at him as if he had slapped him and says "I can't believe you said that. We are talking about MADHU!"
"That is the problem! You are caring for her a great deal more than you should. You agree to that but refuse to admit that it could be love."
"I would know if I love her. Please Sultan, Madhu was crying and I don't want her crying anymore. What to do with Dipali?" RK asks him helplessly.
"Relax, Rishu. What can Dipali possibly do? She is not going to hurt anyone here. Mainly Madhu. So just relax."
