To enjoy their day off, Tyler proposed a simple solution. In the past he had gone out with Dylan and Olivia, maybe to bowl or to grab a bite to eat. This time though, he wanted to simply enjoy being with themâespecially because of how busy they had gotten outside of Teen Wolf.
Filming for season six had begun, and it was the most gut-wrenching and complicated storyline for their characters yet. But Dylan also held a commitment to filming the final installment of the Maze Runner series, while Olivia filmed another movie called The Space Between Us.
So, before the crazy, quick schedules truly begun, Tyler suggested a day for the three to relax. To not have a plan and enjoy hanging out at Olivia's place like old times.
Olivia and Dylan agreed wholeheartedly. They sat side-by-side on the sofa, his arm around her shoulder. Tyler was in the arm chair, sitting upside down so his head was a few inches from the carpet. They had just stopped their Q&A on Twitter and now a random episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S played while they thought of what to do next.
"I have a problem," Tyler declared after a few minutes, making the couple's heads turn his way.
A teasing smile appeared on Olivia's lips as she asked, "Is it all the blood rushing to your head and drowning your brain?"
Dylan chuckled at her response, while Tyler scrunched his nose. "First of all, I don't think that your statement is medically accurate," Tyler said, Olivia's grin widening. "Second, you're partially right so I'm going to sit up now."
A grunt escaped him as he sat up, and he twisted his body to be properly in the chair. "Third of all," he went on. "I can't stop thinking about peanut butter and jelly waffles."
"Oh my gosh, me too," Dylan dramatically leaned his head back against the couch. "Those things are the best food combination we ever created."
"If you guys want them so bad, we are adults," Olivia pointed out. "Let's go to the store, get the stuff and make them here."
Tyler widened his eyes. "Seriously?"
Olivia chuckled, but answered to him by standing up from the couch. "Of course, I am. I'll get my purse and we'll go, so get your shoes on."
Tyler grinned, Olivia heading back to her bedroom and allowing him to flit his eyes to where his best friend still sat. "I love her so much," he stated bluntly and Dylan laughed.
"I know you do, buddy," he replied, standing up to pat Tyler on the shoulder. "And I do too. I'll check the kitchen to see what she already has, that way she won't have a bunch of stuff left over later."
By the time Olivia returned from grabbing her purse and car keys, Dylan walked back in with a small grocery list. Tyler stood eagerly by the door, practically bouncing on his toes.
"Come on, come on," he urged them. "We don't have all day."
"Uh, we actually do," Dylan replied, swiftly catching the car keys Olivia tossed him. "We have the day off."
Olivia exited first, Tyler playfully slapping Dylan's shoulder as he followed her out the door. "Whatever, smart ass, you know what I mean."
They all climbed into Olivia's car, the actress moving to be in the back while Tyler sat in the passenger seat. Dylan started the ignition, Olivia poking her head to be between him and Tyler. It felt natural, Tyler being reminded of how their characters often rode together in the jeep on set.
Light chatter kept them energized on the way to the grocery store, Tyler only growing more excited to get the peanut butter and jelly waffles. Then after walking in, Olivia pushed the cart with the boys trailing behind her.
Tyler started recording the journey, their original goal quickly becoming sidetracked as they joked around with each other. It caught some attention, the three actors even pausing at some points to take pictures with a few fans who shyly walked up to them.
And by the time they got back to Olivia's house, Tyler bounced off the walls. His eagerness proved him unable to help prepare the waffles, Dylan cracking up while Olivia actually focused. Cooking the waffles was the easiest bit, and eventually she set stacks of them on three plates.
Then, they all went crazy with the toppings. Tyler proclaimed his to be the best, using mostly strawberry jelly to smother over the top. Dylan opted for the opposite, choosing grape jelly and crunchy peanut butter. He also sprinkled a bit of powdered sugar, causing Olivia to crinkle her nose.
When she finished, both boys applauded and snapped photos of her with her creation. At the store, she had bought fresh blackberries and jam. So, she spread it in a small circle. Her peanut butter acted like a sauce from being heated up, as she drizzled it over before putting more fruit.
But, even though they made different choices, all three agreed it was the best meal they had had in a while.
"Do we have any more?" Tyler asked, a bit of peanut butter on the side of his mouth.
Olivia stifled a laugh, handing him a napkin. Her best friend had already eaten five, but she wasn't about to disappoint him. "Only the freezer kind, if that's good for you," she informed him.
Tyler grinned, already raising back to his feet. "Good? It's perfect for me, Olive. Be back in a sec."
He disappeared back into the kitchen, Olivia letting out a small yawn when she laid back against Dylan's chest. His arms wrapped around her, and he rested his cheek on her head. "Tired, sweetheart?"
"Just a little," she admitted. "But I'm glad we did this today. It was nice."
"Definitely," Dylan agreed. "Want me to make some for breakfast tomorrow before we head to set?"
"Maybe," Olivia contemplated the thought, and shifted so she could glance up at him. "Honestly, I was just thinking of making a smoothie."
"Another one of my favorite combinations," Dylan sighed happily. "Mango and strawberries."
Olivia hummed in agreement, and leaned to press a quick kiss to his jawline while he intertwined their hands together.
"I really hope you weren't counting on that jelly for the rest of the week," Tyler's voice entered their ears, and their heads turned to see him reentering the room with a plate full of more waffles. "Because it's gone."
Olivia only grinned at him, "I was counting on that, buddy. You could make it up to me later in the week if you want though."
"Chick-fil-A?" Tyler guessed.
"We could go tomorrow on our lunch break," Dylan liked the idea, knowing his girlfriend's obsession with the restaurant. "I already looked at the schedule and we're filming the scene at that house tomorrow, but only till noon if everything goes right. Then they're moving onto Sprayberry, Vic and Rhambo."
Tyler glanced at Olive with raised brows. "You down?"
Olivia playfully scoffed. "Of course I am," she told him. "Do you know me at all?"
"Better than your boyfriend does," Tyler retorted, making Dylan's jaw drop in offense.
"Hey!"
"I was her best friend first," Tyler stated as he bit into his waffle sandwich. His mouth remained full as he added, "I guarantee if we did Olive-based trivia, I could crush you like a bug."
Dylan's lips quirked into an amused grin, his eyes gleaming mischievously. "Is that a challenge?" he asked.
"Oh god," Olivia groaned, burying her face in her hands. "What did I do?"
"I accept said challenge!" Tyler exclaimed, dramatically standing as he put his plate on the coffee table. He pointed a finger at Olivia. "Since you are topic of said challenge, you can be the judge and come up with the questions."
Dylan shrugged his shoulders. "Fine with me," he said and tightened the grip he had on the girl in his arms before pressing a kiss to her hair.
"And no extra points because she loves you," Tyler narrowed his eyes accusingly. "No mushy Dylia on my watch. At least during the game. Afterwards, do whatever the hell you wantâit's y'all's lives."
Olivia laughed, but separated herself from her boyfriend to appease Tyler. "Okay, I can see you two won't let this go, so count me in," she said. "And I think I have some stuff you can use to write your answers on, you know from my mom's old stuff."
Within ten minutes, the boys sat on opposite sides of each other in the living room. An episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine played on the TV behind them, but Olivia ignored one of her favorite shows to dictate the small competition.
The following next hour was filled with laughter, a lot of shouting and even Dylan getting hit in the face with a pillow. It became a night the friends would look back on, something they treasured when thinking of their friendship.
In short, it was the perfect way to spend a day off from workâa day they all didn't know they needed.

Other people there have said he was with Liv and Tyler, and she said "he was so nice, all of them were. And it was cute because Tyler was recording them in the store and that's how I noticed them, but they talked with everyone and made sure everyone got a picture or a hug, etc."
