"Okay, guys, with the time we have left I would love to play a game with you all."
A spunky brunette sat in a director's chair, positioned to see the Teen Wolf stars in front of her. She wore a cheeky grin and held cards in her hand, her eyes glinting mischievously.
Olivia smiled brightly at the interviewer's words and straightened her back. She had been doing promo with Dylan and Tyler all day for Teen Wolf's second half of season five, set to premiere in a few weeks. Finding people who didn't ask the same boring questions always made the time go by faster.
"I love games, so I am in," Olivia declared, stealing a glance to her left.
Dylan met her gaze and the corners of his lips turned upwards. "I'm in too," he agreed, moving so his arm rested against the back of his girlfriend's chair. If anyone asked, he claimed he needed to stretch his arms. It wasn't a complete lie; his muscles were sore from sitting throughout the afternoon.
However, Tylerâwho sat next to himâ knew better. Dylan always seemed to be touching Olivia. Whether holding her hand or an arm around her shoulder, Dylan loved keeping her close. It was like she kept him calm throughout the hustle of the days. Even after dating for two years the actor couldn't get enough of the girl.
Tyler held back a smirk but said, "I'm always up for a game."
"Excellent," the interviewer, who told them her name was Jen, widened her grin. Then she pulled out something from the bag she carried in. "To play, you all might need these."
Olivia accepted the items, and passed one to both boys before looking down at it. She gripped onto a red and green paddle and quickly figured out the idea based on the words etched on either side.
"Oh, it's never have I ever!" Olivia exclaimed and Jen nodded enthusiastically.
"Yes! Have you all played before?"
"Not me," Tyler shook his head.
Dylan replied, "I did in high school but never with paddles."
"Yeah, same," Olivia agreed with a chuckle. "We just had a bowl of grapes."
"It's a pretty simple game," Jen explained. "Basically, I'm going to say a statement. If you have done it, you flip your paddle to the green side. If not, flip to red. Ready?"
The three actors looked between one another, simultaneously nodding. "Yeah," Olivia answered for all of them. "Let's do this."
Jen smiled and looked down at the stack of cards in her hands. Reading off of the first, she asked, "Never have I ever pranked someone on set?"
At once, all three paddles went green. Jen raised her eyebrows curiously, noticing the smirk on Tyler's face as he glanced to his best friends. "Definitely, yes. All of us have pranked someone on setâbut especially these two."
"Unfortunately, he's right," Olivia agreed with a sheepish smile directed towards Dylan, whose cheeks slightly burned. "During the first few seasons, Dyl and I...uh."
"We fell into disagreements that led to pranks," Dylan took over and Olivia nodded. "But after we started becoming friends and dating, we teamed up on some of the newbies. Innocent pranks though, of course."
"There was also the time you and I shoved DylSpray into a locker," Tyler recalled, and Dylan stifled a laugh. "No one could find him for, like, three hours."
Olivia widened her eyes and she pointed her paddle to the boys. "I remember that! It was only his first week and I was the one who found him."
Jen looked amused. "How did you know he was in a locker?" she asked.
"She didn't," Dylan interceded, shooting Olivia a knowing look. "But she knew I did so she interrogated me until I gave it up."
"I see," Jen chuckled, and then glanced down at a new card. "Okay, next one is never have I ever had a paranormal experience?"
Dylan and Olivia flipped their paddles red while Tyler hesitated. "Does it count if I had an experience that I thought was paranormal but ended up being debunked?"
"I don't think that counts, no," Jen said with a laugh. "What did you experience?"
"Ask those two," Tyler nudged his paddle towards the couple beside him, who were trying to hide giggles behind their own paddles. "They learned how to recircuit the lighting of my apartment to make the lights flicker at random times. Then, they took turns sneaking in to move my furniture around."
Dylan finally let his laughter burst, leaning towards his girlfriend to turn his head away from the camera. Olivia gently pat the back of his head, laughing herself.
"It was, truly, some of our best work," she agreed with a bright smile. "I have videos on my phone from all of his reactions."
"Which adds on to our credit of being the best pranksters," Dylan added, finally able to contain himself and sit up straight. He held up his left hand towards Olivia, and she quickly clapped her own against it.
"Heck yeah."
"Honestly, that was a best answer than what I expected," Jen said, grinning. She had been in the business for a while, and found it refreshing every time she interviewed the Teen Wolf cast. Not only were they dedicated to their show and incredibly kind, they also embraced living a fun life and brought tons of laughter. It was a healthy balance hard to find in their world, but the actors seemed to have it mastered.
"Never have I ever enjoyed kissing a co-star?"
Once more, all three flipped their paddles green.
"I'm not going to say who, but yeah, definitely," Tyler answered.
Dylan answered the question by grabbing the bottom of Olivia's chair and pulling her closer to him. Though, he acted nonchalant when he again wrapped an arm around her back.
"Yeah, I've definitely enjoyed kissing my co-star. But I will tell you their identity. It's Livie."
Olivia playfully rolled her eyes, but kept her gaze on Jen. "I guess I should say I've enjoyed kissing him too, shouldn't I?" she teased, though her cheeks burned from her boyfriend's comment.
"I will be thoroughly embarrassed if you didn't," Dylan stated, pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
Jen smiled at their interaction. "You guys are too cute," she gushed, making the couple share smiles. "And I'm intrigued to hear your answers for this next one. Never have I ever purposely messed up a take?"
Olivia flipped her paddle to red, while the boys kept theirs green. "When the three of us have a scene together, they love trying to make me laugh," she shared to explain the results. "Like, there was a scene in season four, I believe, where Sierra was supposed to be mad at them."
Olivia turned her head to Dylan and Tyler. "What was that sequence? When we were outside between two buses?"
"Oh, I remember," Tyler brightened up as he thought back to their filming. "It was when Sierra found out Scott bit Liam and she called a pack meeting."
Dylan snapped his fingers, now remembering the incident as well. "Yes! We had at least ten takes because we were all together. If Livie didn't laugh, Holland would."
Olivia smiled, adding, "These next episodes have some pretty good moments of the three of us too."
"That's nice to hear," Jen commented, readjusting the way she sat in her chair. "Especially after all of your characters fought pretty roughly in the first half of season five. Are these next ones going to reunite them?"
"Well, we can't officially say anything about the details," Tyler said truthfully. "But one thing I will say is how much ass they all kick when together."
"It's pretty sick," Dylan agreed with a nod. "Fans will just have to wait and see for themselves when the show premieres next week."
Olivia nudged her boyfriend with her arm. "Nice tag in," she joked, and he then stretched his grin wider as he glanced from her to the camera.
"Coming to you Tuesday at nine o'clock eastern standard time!"
Jen, Tyler and Olivia all chuckled at Dylan's antics before the interviewer caught sight of the time. "Okay, guys, before you go, I have four more questions. But, instead of answering as yourself, I want you to answer as your character on the show. We'll do it like a speed round."
"Oh, a twist," Olivia remarked, smiling at her best friends. "I like it!"
"I also accept the challenge," Dylan grinned, Tyler nodding as well.
"Okay, never has my character ever killed anyone?"
Dylan tugged his lips down into a friend, turning his paddle to the green side. "Poor Stiles, gets called out on that one."
"Not true," Olivia disagreed, her paddle also green while Tyler's stayed red. "Sierra killed Mizuki. Not an actual person but I'm counting it. And if Theo keeps crossing her, he'll probably be added to the list."
"My character is the golden boy," Tyler commented cheekily, making Olivia scoff.
"I'm pretty sure you're the only one who thinks that, Posey."
Tyler shrugged his shoulders. "Agree to disagree."
Jen read off the next question. "Never has my character ever lied to their parents?"
Dylan kept his green and Tyler flipped his to match. Olivia proudly switched hers to red. "Sierra's parents are dead," she bluntly stated, making the boys laugh. "She can't lie to them."
"The whole first two seasons we did nothing but lie to ours," Tyler said, motioning to himself and Dylan. However the Maze Runner star waved his hand is dismissal.
"Eh, we did it to protect them. They just didn't understand gratitude."
"That's the only way lying is justified I think," Jen said as she glanced down at her final two cards, Dylan pointing to her.
"See?" he told Tyler. "She gets it."
"Never has my character ever cheated on someone?"
Three red paddles answered the question. Olivia looked between the boys, her brows furrowed. "I don't think our show has ever done that, right? We've never had anyone cheat in their relationships."
"There's been accusations," Tyler thought aloud, and then nodded his head. "But you're right, yeah."
"Our show is cool like that," Dylan dramatically stated. "No clichés."
Olivia stifled a laugh to disagree and when he looked at her in confusion, she raised her eyebrows. "Seriously? Honey, our characters are best friends since kindergarten who fell in love. We play the ultimate cliché."
"Yeah, but it's a cute cliché," Dylan persisted. "The cheating cliché is one no one asks for and always ruins something that could be a healthy relationship."
Tyler chimed in, "I agree. We need more healthy relationships displayed on TV, and not necessarily just heterosexual ones either. Because they exist and should be acknowledged."
"Very true," Olivia smiled, and Jen also looked impressed by their responses.
"Final question before I let you all go," Jen started, and then grinned once she read the card in her hand. "And I think you all will like this one. Never has my character ever sacrificed themselves to save their best friends?"
All paddles went green.
"Above all, Teen Wolf displays the importance of having friendships," Tyler answered. "True connections that help you grow as a person."
"Absolutely," Olivia piped up, sending smiles to Tyler and Dylan. "And at the beginning of this season, fans were shown what it was like to see friends fight, because it does happen. Now, possibly, they'll see us all come back together."
Dylan spoke last, sneakily intertwining Olivia's hand with his own. "When talking about sacrificing yourself for others, it's important to remember we don't mean always pushing your own needs aside either. There was an episode with Sierra when she kept focusing on someone else instead of herself. Because of it, she had a mental breakdown. As a cast, we want to recognize the struggles people go through and show how important it is to love one another and to love yourself."
"Well, I can't think of a better way for us to end our time together," Jen responded honestly. "All of your words just prove to us that Teen Wolf is definitely worth watching. Thank you all for spending time with me and playing a game."
"Thank you for having us," Olivia replied kindly, giving Dylan's hand a squeeze as she smiled.
"Oh, yes," Dylan agreed. "We had fun."
"And now I know a game we can play while filming season six," Tyler states, making Jen brighten.
"Well I'm glad!" The girl turned back to the camera to conclude the official interview.
"Thanks everyone who is watching this as well! I hope you've enjoyed getting to know your favorite stars a little more. To catch up on the Beacon Hills drama, catch the mid-season premiere this Tuesday at nine on MTV. Signing off, I'm Jen Stevens!"
