"Livie?"
In all honesty, only one emotion coursed through Dylan's veins the entire ride over to Olivia's.
Fear.
What if something happened on set?
What if she got into an accident onto her way home?
What if she decided she didn't want to go on a date with him?
What if she found someone else?
What if a giant bear broke into her house and attacked her?
Dylan shook his head, dismissing the last idea. Bears can't turn door knobs.
But what if, what if, what if.
They spun like a broken record in his head as he headed up her front steps, only worsening the longer he stood there with no movement from inside her house. Surely, she wouldn't ignore him. Right?
"Screw it," he cursed under his breath, digging in his pockets for the spare key Olivia gave him strictly for emergencies.
Let's see. Olivia didn't text him back. Dani messaged him about Olivia's lack of response and now she wouldn't answer the door? Definitely an emergency in Dylan's book.
Turning the lock and pushing the door forward, Dylan called out her name once more. When silence greeted him, he fully stepped inside. Right away he noticed most of the lights were off, except the one in the living room. His curiosity led him to the doorway for the small lounge, his brown eyes scanning the area for any sign of life.
At first, he didn't see her. She acted as a mere bump underneath a thick, giant grey blanket on the couch, with her face practically invisible from being curled into her fist. But when he did, his entire face softened while his anger and worry melted away.
She looked worn-out, yet peaceful as she slept. From what he could see, the clothes she wore were different than he remembered from that morning and her hair was now in a braided messy bun that left loose hairs to lay across her cheek.
But Dylan should've expected this. After all, she had been up since three and running only on coffee the entire day. She was bound to crash. Dylan would also rather her miss their date to catch up on much needed rest than anything else.
So, Dylan draped another blanket over her figure, watching a small smile overtake her lips as she unconsciously snuggled into it.
After placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, he flicked off the living room light and settled into the arm chair besides the couch to get some rest himself.
A new idea began to form in his brain, mixing with his thoughts about how he knew every date with Olivia was going to be as crazy and memorable as this one. He just couldn't wait to see what Olivia thought about his impromptu date for the next morning.

Olivia woke up to the smell of something burning.
Her senses kicked in, her blue eyes widening as she tried to remember anything before she fell asleep. Her feet struggled to unwind from the blanket draped over her, her body stumbling off of the couch. Curses escaped her mouth as she landed on her floor, memories entering her mind.
She remembered being exhausted after she got home. Holland set out an outfit for her and she changed to go out with Dylan.
Wait.
Dylan. Date. Oh god.
The sound of someone rushing into the room interrupted her panic attack, and soon a hand pressed against her cheek. "Livie, are you okay? I heard you fall from the kitchen."
Dylan looked at her worriedly as he knelt down, scanning her face.
Guilt overcame her immediately and before she knew it, her ramble began. "Oh my god, Dylan! I am so sorry about last night. I didn't mean to fall asleep I swear, it was a complete accident! I was ready to go too but I sat down to rest my eyes and I fell asleep! Please forgive meâ"
Dylan couldn't hold himself back any longer. He leaned forward, instantly capturing her lips into a sweet kiss. After getting over her initial surprise, Olivia responded and kissed him back, a smile on her mouth. "I don't deserve that," she whispered after they pulled away, their foreheads pressed together. "I slept through our date."
Dylan chuckled, brushing a strand of Olivia's hair behind her ear. "You're fine, Livie. I promise."
"No," Olivia shook her head. "Don't let me off the hook. You and everyone else tried to get me to have an early night, but I was so excited I didn't even see my own exhaustion. You probably set up something and I just ruined the plans."
Dylan's eyebrows raised and he smirked, "You were excited?"
A faint blush appeared on Olivia's cheeks but she ignored her embarrassment to question him. "Is that all you got from my apology?"
Dylan playfully shrugged his shoulders, leaning closer to her again. "Well, it was a key detail."
"Oh, was it now?"
"Mhm."
Olivia closed the remaining distance this time, feeling her heart flutter up a storm once her lips touched his. Her hands rested on his cheeks while his fingers woven into her hair.
When they broke apart, Dylan spoke up. "As much as I love kissing youâwhich trust me, I really doâ I have a surprise."
Confused, Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "How? I ruined the date by sleeping."
"String bean, you didn't ruin anything," he assured her, raising back to his feet again. "Trust me, our first date is starting right now and it will blow your mind." He held out a hand to her, and once she accepted it, he pulled her.
"You're very confident in this plan," Olivia teased him as he led her into her kitchen, their hands interlocked. "And 'string bean?' That's very Stiles of you to say."
"It's a habit by now," Dylan answered, smiling at her. "Plus, it fits you. Just like Livie does." He paused, turning all the way around. "Close your eyes."
"Excuse me?"
"I want it to be a surprise," Dylan decided. "And I don't want you to see where we're going."
"It's my house, I know it like the back of my hand," Olivia argued but the pout Dylan pulled made her sigh and close her eyes. "Fine."
Dylan brightened. "Perfect!" He looked around the kitchen to make sure everything was put away, since he was doing the dishes when he heard her fall. The surprise was on her roof and the more he thought about it, the lore jittery he became.
He guided her through her house, his hands over her eyes to make sure she wouldn't sneak a peek. "Okay," he said softly in her ear. "Ready?"
Olivia grinned, bouncing on her heels. "Yes!"
"Okay then, open them."
Olivia did as she was told, but puzzlement washes over her as she glanced around her balcony. "I'm confused," she declared as she looked out to her small yard. "What am I supposed to be looking at?"
"Turn around, Livie."
Realizing he stood behind her, Olivia whirled around to see that he was now a few feet above her on the roof. His hand stretched out to her and an excited grin stretched across his lips. "Well, come on then," he urged her happily. "We haven't got all morning."
With his help, Olivia climbed onto the roof with her heart rate escalating. And joy spread through her soul as her eyes landed on what Dylan had been working on all morning.
Colorful comforters were spread across the roof, mixed with a few pillows. And since the sun hadn't risen yet, an old string of fairy lights lined the top. Then, there a small table had been propped up beside the blankets and was filled with waffles, strawberries and Nutella as well as coffee.
"You did this...for me?" Olivia was at a loss for words. No one, not even Chris, put in this much effort for a dateâespecially a first date. But Dylan was different. He truly cared about her, and the fact he remembered her favorite breakfast food from months ago only further proved her thoughts.
Dylan looked at her in confusion, taken back by her surprise. "Of course I did this for you, Livie," he assured, grabbing her hand from her side and smiling. "I was thinking after we eat, we can watch the sunrise together. If you want, of course."
"I definitely want to," Olivia replied enthusiastically, moving towards him. Once her arms were wrapped around his neck and her head buried itself in his shoulder, she whispered, "Thank you, Dylan. I love it. A lot actually."
And I love you. The words flickered through Dylan's mind instantly, but he knew it was too soon. He just got Olivia; he didn't want to lose her by saying those words and scaring her off. So, he settled by placing a kiss to her temple and hugging her back tightly. "Anything for you, Livie."
"If you want coffee, I made your favorite," He informed her as they stepped apart. Keeping hold of her hand, he guided her over to the table.
"Is it as dark and bitter as my soul?" Olivia remarked.
Dylan smiled at her joke. "No, because I don't know how to make white chocolate lattes. But I did get your vanilla creamer."
Olivia laughed, shaking her head at his response. "That's perfect."
The conversation never halted as the two sat down, Dylan pulling out her chair politely before sitting across from her. Even though it was their official first date, neither of them felt the normal jitters. They were naturally comfortable with one another and didn't deny the feelings in their hearts. Leading Dylan to speak up when a small null in the conversation appeared. "Um, Livie?"
At the sound of her name, she turned her gaze away from her waffles to offer him a smile. "What's up, Dyl?"
Her bright eyes made him swallow hard and momentarily forget what he needed to ask her. But he quickly shook himself out of it and returned her gesture. "Well, I know a lot has happened over the past few, um, days, and I know you wanted to talk about the uh, well theâ"
"The kiss?" Olivia finished, raising her eyebrows.
Rubbing the back of his neck from the turn in conversation, he replied, "Yes?"
"Well, you are right," Olivia nodded, setting down her fork. "I did want to talk about...well, us. Because in the garden, we said that we liked each other and I meant every word. You're one of my best friends, Dylan, but I really want us to become more. If you want the same, that is."
"Livie, you never cease to amaze me," Dylan declared, a wide grin spreading across his mouth. "I was going to tell you the same thing. More specifically, I wanted to ask if you would do me the honor of being my girlfriend?"
"Not gonna lie, I love that we're always on the same page," Olivia smiled, leaning forward. He met her in the middle of the table for a brief kiss that still made his head swim. And what she said next made him never want to let her go. "I would love to be your girlfriend."
And when the sun rose only half an hour later, Olivia couldn't picture herself anywhere else. Cuddled under a blanket, she sat between Dylan's legs with his arms wrapped around her from behind. Her head leaned back against his chest, allowing him to press his lips to her hair for a few moments before resting his head on hers.
Happy.
That's how the pair felt when the sky suddenly became painted pink and orange, streaks of the rainbow brightening the area. And neither of them wanted the morning to end.
