Yangyang covered his face with the pillow and groaned. His head was about to explode of overheating and to add to his problems there was a couple in the room next to his having... too much fun.
He wanted to just break into the room and yell at both of them to shut the hell up, but he didn't want to ruin their fun. Chenle had been apart from that vampire for so long even though he knew he loved him. And Yangyang knew too. He had known about Chenle's feelings for the vampire way before Chenle himself, and he felt partly guilty because throughout all these years he'd only fueled Chenle's anger against vampires.
Jisung looked like a nice guy, but Chittaphon's words made him doubt. What if, just like Yukhei, Jisung lost control and killed Chenle? What if Chenle died because of him? Because as a good friend, he should warn Chenle of the dangers of dating a vampire. Because it was dangerous, vampires could easily lose control. On the other hand, Jisung wasn't Yukhei. He had always been a vampire, he knew how to control himself, right?
Yangyang stopped thinking about it and decided to just shrug it off. He wanted to believe Chenle was safe with a vampire and he was smart enough not to get killed.
On the other hand, he started thinking of Yukhei once again. He died to know why he'd attacked him. He needed answers. He needed to talk to Yukhei. Yukhei would never purposefully hurt him, right?
He was so immersed in his thoughts he didn't realise his body got up by itself, leaving his dark room behind and silently walking downstairs. The lights were off, but he knew the building by memory, corner by corner, door by door.
His quiet footsteps would barely be heard by a pure blooded vampire. The floor was cold, but he didn't mind it. He made his way to the lab he knew so well. His hands caressed the door's surface until they met the doorknob, he touched a little further until he found the small keyboard where the password was supposed to be typed and the fingerprint scanned.
He pressed the keys 1, 5, 9 at the same time, waited for exactly three seconds and then pressed 0 three times. The door unlocked silently and he sneaked into the lab. He'd used that system to get into the lab at night without getting caught several times, because that way he didn't need to scan his fingerprint and leave his entrance recorded in the database of their security system.
'Yukhei?' He whispered quietly. He knew the vampire's hearing was so good he'd hear him perfectly. However, he got no response.
He walked closer towards the cage where he knew Yukhei would be and called his name once again.
'Yukhei???'
Not a voice could be heard. Once he reached the cage, he passed his hand in between the cold bars, touching what felt like a cold body.
He freaked out. He let out a gasp and his eyes widened. Was Yukhei dead? Were they too late? Then, he remembered Yukhei was a vampire and his body was supposed to be cold.
Then, he poked Yukhei's body repeatedly, whispering his name to try and get a response. However, the vampire didn't react. He carefully took his phone and switched on the flash, directing it towards Yukhei's direction.
His eyes were closed. He was in a relaxed position, as if he was just a rag doll. Yangyang stuck his arm a bit further to touch his face. He poked his cheeks and even tried to open his eyes, but no matter how much he tried to bother him, the vampire didn't react.
He started hyperventilating and his eyes got teary.
Fuck.
FUCK.
What if Yukhei is dead?
What if they killed Yukhei?
It's my fault for letting those monsters get their hands on him.
Yangyang, you killed Yukhei!
It's your fault! You're the reason why he might be dead!
He dropped himself on the cold floor, staring at nowhere in the darkness of the lab. He sobbed quietly, letting the tears flow down his cheeks. His hands traced meaningless shapes on the floor.
He curled his unwounded hand into a fist and slammed it against the floor, gritting his teeth. He got up using that hand as a support and made his way outside. He locked the lab again and walked mindlessly towards his bedroom, dragging his feet. He felt the tears on his face, as they dried on his skin, new ones came out of his eyes. He felt the liquid slowly rolling down his cheeks until they reached his chin.
He stood in front of his own bedroom's door, about to open it to get inside and cover himself with the soft blanket. He wanted to forget everything. He wanted to forget Yukhei, because his memories only reminded him he let his own best friend die, and did nothing to save him.
He was about to twist the doorknob, the moans from Chenle's room could still be heard, but now they didn't bother him anymore. Instead of twisting the doorknob, something inside of him twisted. He made a click, as if there was a switch in his heart.
His face changed completely. It went totally blank. He left his room behind and made his way upstairs, taking his time, without a rush.
He found the door he was searching for. He dried his tears with the sleeve of his pajamas. He breathed in to gather all of his courage.
Do it. Do it for Yukhei.
As he opened the door, his face changed once again. He put on his softest expression, looking like a defenseless sheep. He walked towards the bed quietly and moved the covers aside, getting inside the warm bed.
Chittaphon woke up all of a sudden and he jumped on his place. He was fast to react, he pushed the intruder backwards and made him lay flat on his stomach, twisting one of his arms with one hand to restrain him. He sat on the intruder's lower back and held a knife with the other hand.
'Ch-chittaphon, it's me...' Yangyang said, although his voice was muffled by the mattress.
Chittaphon recognised that voice and immediately loosened his grip, getting off the younger's back and leaving the knife on his bedside table.
'Why are you here?' He asked softly. He cupped Yangyang's cheeks and caressed his face.
'I-I can't sleep...' Yangyang said in the most innocent voice he could make.
'What's wrong, Yangyang?' He felt bad for the younger. He looked scared, as if something very bad had happened to him.
'I-I had a nightmare...' Yangyang whimpered when he felt the older place a kiss on his cheek.
'Shhh... it's fine. Do you want to sleep here?'
The younger nodded in response. Chittaphon covered him with the bedsheets and went back to sleep, feeling Yangyang cuddling him. It felt so right, Yangyang was such a soft person to sleep with. He drifted off to sleep almost right away, just like the younger.
I'm sorry, but you deserve this.
