'You're on time.'
'I really want to make up with you, Chenle...'
'I can see that.'
'What can I do for you to forgive me?'
Chenle gripped the pocket knife and aimed at Jisung's neck. The younger however, being a vampire and having faster reflexes, stopped the blade from touching his skin by grabbing his wrist.
'Nothing. You can do absolutely nothing. You were born a monster and you'll die a monster.' Chenle kept pushing, struggling against the vampire's grip. Jisung wasn't using much force, he was way stronger after all.
'I... I'm so sorry... I'm sorry for everything I did... At this point I don't even care if you kill me. I deserve it, I know.' Jisung stopped opposing resistance, slowly letting Chenle win.
'See you in hell, Park.' The blade was millimetres away from his skin. He knew it. He could practically feel it, slightly burning his skin.
I love you, Zhong Chenle. I'm a prisoner of my own feelings to the point where I'd rather let you kill me than hurt you.
Why do I love you?
Maybe because of your smile.
Maybe because of your laugh.
Because of your eyes.
Your voice.
You.
You're such a sweet guy with your friends, you have a heart of gold when it comes to the ones you love.
Why?
Why don't you love me?
Why do you only see me as a monster?
I wish you'd look at me the way you used to do before knowing who I am.
Maybe being a vampire is my mistake.
Jisung had his eyes closed, waiting for the pain to kick in once Chenle had sunk the blade into his flesh.
Instead of that, he heard a voice and felt the object being pulled away from him.
'I knew you couldn't be trusted, human.' Jeno gripped Chenle's wrist, twisting it without using much strength. Chenle winced in pain, letting the knife go immediately.
'What the fuck are you doing here?' Chenle said as he freed himself from Jeno's grasp.
'Hello, I'm Jeno. Jisung's friend. Nice to meet you.' Jeno gave Chenle a smile and protectively stood in front of Jisung.
'Vampires really are a plague, aren't you? What, you didn't dare come alone so you called your friends to come help you?' Yangyang appeared behind Chenle. He aimed a gun at Jeno.
Another vampire jumped on Yangyang, almost looking like he fell from the sky. The human fell backwards as the vampire straddled his lap, keeping him from moving. He took the gun and crashed it with his hands.
'We are brave, not dumb. It was obvious you little humans would come with some backing so we came prepared as well.' Jisung's eyes widened as he saw Taeyong on Chenle's friend. 'Look, until now you've won because we took it slow. My friends were too kind and that was their bigger mistake. I'm not them. I don't pity you, humans. I won't hesitate to fucking-'
'Taeyong, stop. Don't kill him.'
'Wha- Why not? They were about to kill you, Jisung!' Yangyang used this distraction and pushed Taeyong off him. The two males got up and glared at each other.
'Come on, don't be cowards. Show yourselves, I know there's more hidden near us.' Yangyang said as he looked around them.
'Guys, come out. And you humans, don't be cowards either.' Taeyong commanded.
And just as they heard their words, five vampires appeared to back up the three that were already there. Yukhei, Dejun, Kunhang and Sicheng came out of their hiding places. The vampires outnumbered the humans, but the humans were armed.
In a blink of an eye they were on each others' throats. Taeyong was once again on Yangyang, attacking him like a furious beast. Yangyang defended himself shooting at him with a new gun he'd brought just in case. Taeyong was much faster and could avoid all the bullets, but he lost time doing so and Yangyang had enough time to move back so that the vampire didn't touch him.
Jeno was against Yukhei, the human having the advantage of having a sword with him while the vampire only had his fists. Jeno was skillful enough not to get cut badly, but parts of his skin got burned every time the blade made contact with him.
Kunhang was literally shooting daggers against Doyoung and Jaehyun. The two vampires, despite hurting their hands, took the daggers and threw them back to Kunhang. It seemed like Kunhang's usual clumsiness was shut off as his movements, although not comparable to the vampires', were truly agile. He could avoid the daggers being thrown back at him, partly because he had made them and could easily calculate their speed and trajectory and partly because the vampired couldn't throw them completely well due to the material harming their skin.
Jisung stayed back as he saw the chaos unfold in front of him. He saw Chenle picking his pocket knife and running towards Jaemin, who was facing another human and didn't see the Chinese coming.
Jisung wanted to intervene, but Donghyuck was faster to react and had jumped on Chenle. Once Chenle was on the floor, Donghyuck stood next to him. He placed a foot on Chenle's ankle and stomped on it. His bones let out a loud 'creak', and Chenle yelled in pain, piercing through all the vampires' eardrums.
Donghyuck was about to kill the human, but Jisung protected him, getting hit instead of Chenle. Donghyuck was furious.
'Why the fuck are you protecting him?!' Jisung and Donghyuck got into a verbal fight in the middle of that chaos. They were in a place that was far from the center of the town, so no one else witnessed that videogame worthy battle royale.
Jaemin was trying to separate the two vampires. Meanwhile, Chenle watched what was happening a few meters away from him. Sicheng was spraying the vampire in front of him with a substance that made his eyes sting and hurt his lungs as he breathed it. However, Jungwoo fought covering his nose and closing his eyes. He managed to blindly kick Sicheng on the stomach and make him fall on the ground.
Behind the vampire was a horrified human, with teary eyes and covering his mouth out of fear. Chenle knew he was a human because he was totally unaffected by Sicheng's chemicals.
Chenle turned around to face Yangyang. They made eye contact for a moment during which Chenle mouthed to him 'save the human'. Yangyang got distracted for a second looking at their direction and Taeyong used this opportunity to scratch his cheek. Blood came out of the wound, Yangyang covered it with his hand and kept fighting against the vampire. They slowly got closer to where the human Chenle wanted to save was.
Chenle used his last strength to get up with his non broken foot and grasped Jisung's shirt to gain balance. He jumped on his back, making the vampire pick him up instinctively. Jisung widened his eyes as he felt a blade awfully close to his throat.
Jisung knew that had been a wrong move, but his instincts couldn't let Chenle get hurt any more. Chenle shouted in the middle of the fight.
'Stop!' Everyone turned their heads to look at him. 'Stop, or I'll kill him.'
Jisung looked practically unbothered. He knew he could die any moment, but somehow he didn't care anymore.
'Let the rest of humans go and I won't kill him.' Chenle sacrificed himself to save that human he didn't even know, or at least he thought he'd saved him. Yangyang used the brief moment where all vampires froze to run towards the human and drag him with him. Jungwoo tried to reach for Baekhyun, but Chenle saw him. 'Don't fucking move or he's dead.'
The vampires had to hold their frustration in as they saw the humans leave. As soon as they did Chenle dropped the pocket knife he was holding and his body collapsed. Jisung was fast enough to grip onto his thighs to prevent him from falling off his back.
