Chapter 713 Sheâs Still Alive?
Ophelia was dead. There was no way Brendan would lie to her about this matter.
But if it was not Ophelia, why would Brendan keep a photo of a woman who looked like her?
Deirdreâs heart began to pump faster and faster as an idea began slowly taking shape in her head.
âGlenna, can you tell me more about the photo? Can you tell where she is and who sheâs with?â
Deirdre asked.
Glenna looked at the photo closely for a while, but she could barely see anything because the photo was blurry. âThis photo is weird. It seems to me that sheâs in a room or something. Sheâs sitting on a bed, and thereâs no one else in the photo.â
âWhat about her hair? And what is she wearing? Does she have long hair or short hair?â
Glenna was startled by Deirdreâs string of questions. She tried to calm her down by saying, âCalm down, Deirdre. Iâll tell you slowly.â
âIm sorryâ¦â Deirdre pressed down her surging emotions and closed her eyes. If Ophelia was still alive, then she could not leave the country anymore.
âSheâs wearing a worn-out shirt and she has short hair.â
âShort hair? Are you sure?â
âYeah,â Glenna replied firmly. âHer hair reaches the nape of her neck. Oh yeah, her hair is also completely gray.â
Deirdre shuddered. If the woman in the photo was Ophelia, then it meant she was still alive.
She used to have long black hair, but her hair had become short and gray. Deirdre could not imagine how hard the past five years had been on her.
Glenna put down the photo and asked, âWhat happened, Deirdre? Sheâs your mother, right?â
Deirdre shook her head and sobbed. âIâm not sure, Glenna⦠My mother died five years agoâ¦â
âWhat?â Glenna was dumbfounded. She only understood now why Deirdre would behave so strangely.
Suddenly, she remembered something and asked, âWe found this photo in the pocket of Kyranâs suit, so why donât you go ask him? It would be great if your mother was still alive.â
The problem was that she was lying to Glenna. The suit belonged to Brendan, and judging from what she knew about him, he would not have put it off until now if heâd wanted her to know this.
âGlenna⦠This is kind of complicated, and I donât know how to explain it to youâ¦â Just as Deirdre was wondering how she should explain everything to Glenna, her phone rang.
She answered the call and a deep, stern, magnetic voice wafted into her ear. âItâs me, Deirdre.â
Deirdre clenched her teeth tightly. She did not know why Brendan was calling her at this late hour, so she went into the bathroom and asked, âWhy are you calling me at this late hour, Mr. Brighthall?â
Brendan fell silent for a moment before saying, âI remember that you still have my suit. Is that right?
When are you going to give it back to me?â
âGive it back to you?â Deirdreâs heart skipped a beat, and she said, âI thought you werenât going to ask for it back, Mr. Brighthall.â
âThat suit means a lot to me. Can you give it back to me tomorrow? Iâll send you the address later.â
Brendan commanded her coldly. It seemed to Deirdre that he was not going to tell her anything, and her heart sank.
She felt that he was hiding something from her, and it made her wonder who the woman in that photo was.
âWhen are you going to get your suit back?â
âAs soon as possible. Oh yeah, donât touch my suit. I donât like other people touching my stuff.â
After he finished talking, he hung up the call.
Deirdre clutched her phone tightly. She knew Brendan very well, so she was confident that something was not right with him.
He had sounded rather anxious and nervous. Could he be worried that she might find the photo?
