Alexanderâs POV
I entered the cabin with a huge grin on my face.
I couldnât wait to look it in the eyes and tell it that we would very soon be getting rid of it forever. We would get my Fia back and that fucking thing would be gone forever.
Hunter was behind me and I could feel the tension rolling off him.
âDonât worry, Hunter,â I told him excitedly. âWe will get rid of it soon.â
âYou found a way?!â Mason exclaimed before Hunter could answer.
We approached him and he flinched a little.
âGoddess, Alex, you look terrifying,â Mason mumbled, glancing from me to Hunter. âWhat the fuck happened?â
I furrowed my eyebrows.
âWhat the fuck are you talking about?!â I growled. âI have a huge smile on my face because we are killing that fucking thing that captured my twin!â
Mason glanced at Hunter again.
âYou have a smile on your face, but it looks weird,â Hunter mumbled, making me look at him.
He was studying me carefully.
âIt looks like a mixture of excitement and anger,â Hunter added. âIt looks like you are about to explode.â
I tightened my jaw and gulped.
He wasnât wrong. I was pissed as fuck. I just didnât realize that it was so visible.
âWhat idea did you come up with?â Mason asked, but I ignored him completely.
I needed to see it and laugh in its face. I walked past him and approached the window. It was sitting on the bed and looking around the room with furrowed eyebrows.
I growled and clenched my fists tightly. I could feel my power bubbling up inside me, fueling my muscles and my whole body.
âThere is no use in growling, Alex,â the thing said. âIt wonât help you.â
My vision blackened. I really wanted to kill that thing. It looked at me and smiled.
âWhat genius plan did you come up with?â it asked as it stood up and approached the window. âLet me save you some time. It wonât work.â
âYes, it will,â Hunter said, his voice laced with anger. âIt will work and we will get our Sophia back.â
I could hear the pain behind his words. I looked at him and saw him clenching his jaw repeatedly. I could tell that this was torture for him.
The thing sighed and shook its head.
âIt makes me so sad knowing that you will never accept me for who I am,â it said, looking from Hunter at me. âI am Sophia. I am just not the nice, kind, naive little girl I was before.â
I growled again. It was talking bad about my Fia.
âShut the fuck up,â I said, slamming my fist against the glass. âYou are not my twin. You are not my sister. You took her from me, but I will get her back.â
The thing smirked, making me even angrier than I was.
âOh, Lex,â it said, shaking its head. âI hoped that maybe you would see me for who I really am. I hoped that I would always be your Fia, no matter what.â
My canines and claws elongated. I growled loudly and the power exploded inside me. The lights in the cabin flickered.
âDo not call me that!â I screamed, slamming my fist against the glass again.
Two strong arms wrapped around me and pulled me back.
âBreathe, Alex,â I heard Hunter say, trying to stay calm. âShe is doing that on purpose. She is trying to get some kind of reaction out of you. Donât let her win.â
Mason was standing in front of me with a worried look on his face.
I tried to listen to Hunter and I took what was supposed to be a deep breath. It was useless. I could see it smirking and it wasnât helping my anger.
âShe is probably hoping that you would lose it enough and open those doors to confront it,â Hunter said quietly. âShe is trying to find a way out.â
I gulped. He was right. It was trying to provoke me, hoping that I would go inside. It was hoping that I would open those doors and break the spell.
âMy mate is smart, isnât he?â it chuckled, making the three of us growl at the same time.
âI am not your mate,â Hunter said, his voice trembling. âI am Sophiaâs mate and I will get her back.â
It rolled its eyes and sighed.
âYou keep saying that, but I am still here,â it said. âWhen will all that âbringing Sophia backâ stuff happen? I canât wait to laugh in your face when your plan fails.â
It air-quoted âbringing Sophia backâ like it was something that wouldnât happen. Oh, the thing was so fucking wrong. It would happen and it would happen soon.
âOh, it will happen soon,â I said as I stepped away from Hunter.
He moved his arms and I approached the glass.
âIt will happen very soon and we will never have to deal with you again,â I growled. âYou arenât nearly as powerful as you think. We are stronger than you. Sophia is stronger than you. We will kill you and you will never come back.â
The smirk disappeared from its face and it was replaced by anger.
âI am Sophia,â it said. âIf you kill me, you will kill Sophia.â
It narrowed its eyes.
âHow will you live with yourself knowing that you killed your own twin sister?â it asked, making my heart stop. âYou promised that you will always protect me. You will break your promise if you kill me.â
I had to gulp down to stop myself from screaming.
I did promise her that. I promised Sophia that I would always protect her and that she would always be safe with me. She promised me the same. We were twins and protecting her was like protecting my own heart. We were part of each other and we couldnât let anything happen to either of us.
But this thing in front of me wasnât my Fia. It wasnât my twin.
âI will kill you to protect Sophia,â I mumbled as I took another step closer to the glass.
I was staring at the exact copy of my eyes and a shiver went down my spine. Those were Sophiaâs eyes, but it wasnât Sophia behind them.
âI will do whatever I have to do to protect her,â I continued. âYou are nothing and we will reduce you to ashes. You are nothing and you will always remain just that.â
Its eyes blazed with fury.
I turned around and stormed out of that room. I needed to go on a run and clear my head before I went into that room and killed it.
