NOAH
"Hey", I say, approaching one of Abby's cabin mates. Her eyes lighten and her friends push her forward like she's coming up to receive an award or something.
"Oh my God, twice a day",
"Is he tired of Loren?", one of her friends says but gets shun by another.
"Who cares if he wants a fuck body?, Taylor's gonna do it",
What the heck are they all on about? Twice a day? Have I been here today?. And who says I'm with Loren? My God, these rumors just can't stop spiraling out of control.
"Have you seen Abby?",
"Abby? Who's that?", they ask amongst themselves.
"She's chubby", I go on to describe and it seems to ring a bell cause recognition flashes in their eyes.
"We.. don't know", a tall dark haired girl says diverting her eyes away from my gaze.
"How should we know anyways", Taylor, I assume, says and they all take their leave.
I wait for them all to leave before sliding into their cabin. Good thing they don't lock the doors.
Abby's bed isn't all that perfectly made and I can tell why. An involuntary chuckle escapes from my lips when I visualize her trying to tuck in her sheets.
I wonder who's beneath her. Is she mean?. Abby hasn't told me anything about mean girls not like she'd ever unless I force it outta her. But if she was getting bullied, I would know.. wouldn't I?.
She'd look stressed and like she was at the brink of tears all the time.
I pull her pillow away and her phone and sketch book comes in view. I pick both up. I smile remembering the sketches she made of me. I open it but then close it, keeping it back behind her pillow. I should probably look for her first.
Abby's phone doesn't have a password and I fear it'll be a problem one day. There's nothing she hides in here though, that's why the need to keep it secured hasn't occured to her.
I hop into our chat, sighing once I scroll upwards and see how distant I was. My absence makes me wonder what the hell I was doing?.. Partying?, football?, fame?, what the heck was I doing?.
I, unfortunately, have no excuse.
Missed calls from her mum and a text from Hernandez. That buzz head kid, why the fuck is he texting her?. I tap on the text to read it.
"Hey Ginger, I was stepping out so I wanted to know what you'd like to eat?",
I scoff then reply, "Fuck off", Okay no, he's gonna know. I erase the message and text another, "Nothing",
I'll get my princess food, that's my job.
Okay now, what- a beep from Abby's phone stops my train of thoughts in it's tracks.
"Ugh", I groan when I see it's the bald kid.
"Okay, everything okay though?",
I'll leave that one on read.
If I was Abby, where would I be?.
If Abby was happy, she'd be here probably tidying up her things slowly. If she was sad, I could bet she wouldn't be here. Probably somewhere crying in the woods or bathroom even.
But she could still be happy and not be here though. What if she went off to see the glasses girl so they could go for dinner? Nah, she's not that fast in getting ready.
Where could Abby be?. I ponder deeply. My eyes scan her surrounding. Underneath her bunk, her blue sneakers she wore this morning has been neatly placed next to her Converse. That's what she usually wears outside. I pick a leg up, turn it around just to see the size.
She's a size 7?. Her feet sure does look small.. and chubby.. and cute. I smirk, placing the shoe back down.
My investigation seems to be going somewhere. So far I know Abby's not happy and is somewhere probably tossing pebbles and sobbing. But there's a contradiction with that because her Converse is here and if she's not on them right now then..
I look at the bathroom door.. she's probably not outside.
The cabin door creaks open and a lean girl walks in. I can't help but think she looks familiar.
She jolts up in shock when she sees me. I would too if I were in her shoes. I mean, a 6ft boy in her cabin. Man her friends aren't even gonna believe.
"What are..", she tries to speak but unfortunately she's still trying to process my being here.
I look down at myself, checking, just in-case I'm actually half naked and forgot.
"..you doing here?", she finally completes and I finally know who she is.
"You're that skinny girl from dodge ball", I say and she shuts her eyes for two seconds before peeling them open again, like she's offended.
"Maya actually", she says with a somewhat icy tone and a fake smile on her face. Yeah never liked her.
"Yeah whatever", I roll my eyes.
"What are you doing here?", she asks, sassily and I visibly sigh.
"It should be your business since it's your cabin but right now it isn't so take what you came for and leave", I tell her and now she looks even more offended.
She scoffs mockingly, "Well how about we make it the camp counselors business or preferably Mrs Hart",
She smiles evilly and I almost laugh. She's dumb to think that I'd be scared about her ratting me out. But although I'm not frightened by her threat, I am concerned cause if I'm not, I might draw attention and that's drawing attention to Abby who I'm sure as hell is in that bathroom.
"Look here Miserable", I say intentionally and she has a glare on her face now.
"There's no way you mistook Maya for that",
"Sorry, you just look it way more than Maya", I unapologetically say and she she gasps.
"You jerk. Everyone thinks you're hot and perfect but you're actually just a bully", she says, angrily and I roll my eyes mentally. Girls, always trying to be the victim.
"Heard worse so you'd have to say more to make me actually feel bad", I say, hinging a brow up.
"Fuck you, Noah",
"I literally don't have time for this, don't you have somewhere to be?", I ask, impatiently as my eyes shift to the bathroom door. If Abby truly is in there, why won't she come out at the sound of my voice?.
"This is my cabin", Maya says and I remember I have a bug to deal with.
"Don't have time for this", I mutter to myself as I pull my phone out. Dinner's gonna be over any time soon.
"What are you doing?", she asks but I ignore her.
"Yo Tyrese.. yeah just come over to the second cabin for girls", I say then end the call.
"Get out of here", she commands, pointing at the door.
"I think that's my line", I say just as Tyrese gets into the cabin with some other guys. He just had to bring an entourage, didn't he?.
"Yo, what's popping party at cabin 2?", he asks with his usual grin.
"Where all the girls at?", Don asks. He's here? So I'm guessing Asher went himself? Or maybe his shagging Priscilla in Don's car. Poor Priscilla, she's literally just his outbox frustration.
"Not a party, I just need you to get her out of here", I say, gesturing at Maya.
"Out of her cabin?", Tyrese asks in confusion. They all wear confused faces.
"It literally doesn't make sense", she exclaims. I look at them daringly and they quickly move to Maya.
"C'mon pretty girl", Don says, grabbing her arms from behind.
"What? I'm not-",
She gets cut off as Don flings her over his shoulder.
"Oh my God", she gasps and it's almost like her complaining stops as she's being carried out of her room. Should be glad something regarded as exciting in a girls logic is happening to her. Again, her friends wouldn't believe it.
I sigh as I make my way to the bathroom. I've wasted enough time as it is. I check my watch around my wrist for the time. It's 7:45 already.
I knock on the bathroom door then wait for a reply. There's no sound from the other side so I open it and walk in.
I'm in shock when I see a mop stick against a stall door. I don't even have to think twice about who's in there before pulling the stick away from the door.
I fling it open and Abby's body falls out. My heart nearly stops beating at the sight of her.
"Princess..", I say with a shaky voice and her eyes flutter open. I'm filled with relief because for a moment I thought she was.. I can't even imagine.
I kneel next to her. "It's okay, I'm here now".
"Noah.." she says, looking up at me with a very sad pout on her lips. I watch them quiver as an instant pool of tears starts pouring down her eyes. Abby lets out an ugly cry as she wraps her arms around my torso, burying her face into my body.
I slowly wrap my arms around her. "I'm sorry..", I trail, wishing I had come sooner. I don't even wanna know how long she's been here. The thought might get me more furious than I already am.
The bell, indicating the end of dinner, rings and I sigh. I pat down on Abby's back slowly before pulling away from her, she reluctantly obliges to getting off me.
Her eyes are puffy now and her face red. It's taking a lot to control my anger right now. Those girls are so fucking lucky they're females.
"Listen princess, I want you to be strong for me for just two minutes.. okay?", I ask but I get a sob as a reply.
"I don't want them to see you as weak so stop crying for a while until we get out of the cabin, okay?",
She sniffs and I see how hard she's trying not to let more tears out. I wipe her tear stained cheeks then kiss her forehead.
"Good girl",
I help her up, "Those are yours right?", I ask and she looks behind then nods.
Abby reaches for her things hanged over the stall and makes it out to me again. I raise a brow at her as I reach for the door. She nods so I open it and not so surprisingly a few girls were already in the room. Abby moves back seeing them.
I tried to stop this from happening but that Maya girl just ate up my time.
"C'mon princess, we can't stay here forever", I tell her and she frowns walking out. As we walk to her bed, I hope she can ignore the stares just as I do.
They can have whatever opinion they want. It's for them to keep.
She slowly drops her things on her bed then picks up her phone. Just as we make it to the door, Taylor and her friends from earlier walk into the room and they've got shock in their eyes but not at me though.. they're eyes are on Abby.
And it only makes it obvious they're in on this. Fuck.. I'm so mad right now but I have to calm down for her. For the sake of Abby I don't cause a scene.. for now.
We walk out the room and when we get far off she pulls my sleeve. I turn to look at her.
"It's almost time for..", she trails, suddenly losing balance. I quickly hold on to her.
"Easy princess..", I say, steadying her, "You're gonna have to get on my back", I say and unlike Abby she doesn't fight it, she just gets on.
I walk back to my cabin, carrying her. They all look up once I get in.
"Hey Don", I call out and I'm surprised to see Maya playing cards with the boys.
When she sees me, her eyes instantly moves to Abby and they aren't filled with rage anymore but.. pity. I'm guessing she knew and obviously did nothing.
I hate all her roommates. The ones that knew and did nothing and more so the ones that did it.
"Yeah captain?", he asks, staring at Abby behind me.
"I need your keys", I say and he comes over to hand them to me. I guess Asher didn't go see the derby or Priscilla.
"What happened to your lady?", Tyrese asks.
My eyes move to Maya, "She's just tired", I say and she looks away guiltily.
I walk out the door then head to the parking lot. When I get to the car, I open the door to the passengers seat, gently placing Abby in. I put on her seatbelt, shut the door then make my way to the driver's seat.
"It's almost time for bed check", she weakly says as I start up the car.
"There's no time limit for us", I say then reverse out of the parking lot.
