CALLIE
I wonder what it's like to be like them.. I almost think out loud as I stare at Loren and Priscilla, sitting on the top of the bunk bed as they talk about new brands while Priscilla puts on her nail polish.
They always seem like they have life figured out already while I don't even know what I'm doing. And they always seem to get what they want.
Priscilla clearly wants Asher and it seems like she has him already. He's always stopping by to get her and they never come back empty handed. It's either take outs or new shoes. I think she's obsessed with shoes cause she has tons of them.
Loren on the other hand, she wants Noah. I mean, everyone can see that. I bet that's the only reason she's here. But I'm in doubt that she can get what she wants this time.
The way Noah looks at Abby, he could never look at Loren that way.. at least not now. For now, Abby seems to be the apple of his eyes.
I think of her as lucky most times. The fact that she gets to have two ridiculously handsome boys wanting her attention.
I sigh. While the world gives some options it gives others nothing.
"But why though?", Loren's little talk with Priscilla interrupts my thoughts and I eavesdrop on their conversation.
"I don't know, she isn't all that ugly though", Priscilla shrugs and Loren scoffs, registering her comment as unhelpful.
Her eyes move and unfortunately lands on me. I freeze unable to pretend that I wasn't once staring at them.
"Hey four eyes", she says and I stop myself mid way from looking behind me.
I raise both brows up, "Me?", I ask instead, pointing at myself.
She lets out a tired sigh then rolls her blue eyes, before it lands on me once more, "How are you not at the other cabins?",
Priscilla snorts, almost holding her laugh as she goes on to paint her big toe nail.
"Could ask you the same thing", is what I would say if I had the word courage.
"Get here", she rudely commands and I sigh, as I oblige, coming down from my bed. I walk up to her.
"Yes?", I ask.
"You're..", she pauses then smiles, "You seem lonely", she continues and just as much as I look confused Priscilla looks even more confused than I am.
"Why don't you join us?", she asks and my eyes widen. The shock in me makes me turn around to make sure I'm not hallucinating or stuck in a trance.
"Um what?", I ask.
"Yeah what?", Priscilla joins in, questioning. Loren gives her a quick look and she there's a Knowing look on her face.
"Settle down now I'm just trying to be nice. Listen four eyes.. I mean, what's the name?",
"Callie",
"Yeah right, so Kelly..", she starts. Okay that was full on offensive. "Why don't you join us. I mean, you can't just be all boring by yourself and then go back to school being the same you",
"If you're with us 24/7 you'll surely get that guy you want", she throws in further and I wonder if she knows who I like.
"And be more popular", Priscilla adds, "Rolling with us will get you the best seats anywhere",
"Even heaven",
"Basically angels already", they laugh after the last statement.
"So.. lemme get this straight, you guys..", I point at them, "Want me..", point at myself, "To be a part of your clique?", I ask.
"Exactly Carin", Priscilla says and I decide to fall deaf ears.
"It's an opportunity of a life time, except you wanna keep being friends with someone who's only out to lower your standards", Loren says as they both get down from the bed.
"Offer ends before dinner",
"Think wisely", Priscilla says as they make it out the cabin door.
An offer? To join them? This has to be a prank or.. why else would they want me to be a part of their clique.
Except you wanna keep being friends with someone who's only out to lower your standards..
A frown settles on my face as I grab my jacket off my bed then head out the door.
NOAH
I lie down with both arms behind my head and legs crossed as I stare at the bed above, lost in thought. I want my princess right now but I can't tell if she wants me too. She's been acting a lot more shy after the kiss. Maybe I shouldn't have?. Was that a smart move or not?.
I groan, turning to lie on my sides. Well she did pull me into another kiss so I'm dead sure she wanted it as bad as I did.
"And what's got you smiling like that goof?",
I look up to see Asher, leaning down to look at me.
I sit up so he sits on the bed opposite mine, pushing who ever was on it. The boy groans but moves away for Asher.
"I was thinking we should hang out.. been a while, don't you think?", he asks and I lean on the bunk with my arms crossed over my bare chest.
No matter how much Asher and I may disagree on things we always have a way of putting our ego aside.
"You drive?", I ask.
"I always drive", he smirks.
We walk out the cabin and as I walk pass Abby's I have an urge to stop by but I refrain from it, walking ahead.
"Yo, do you know there's a derby going on a few miles from here?",
"Really?", I ask. Where the camp is situated isn't really a bad place for those type of things. If I had a lot of money, putting a demolition derby arena here wouldn't be so bad.
"Yeah and they've got like a really huge space..",
My attention diverts as my phone starts to ring. I pull it out from the back pocket of my jean.
"And so..", Asher stops ranting when he sees me looking at my phone, "Are you even listening to me?", he asks with arms stretched out.
"Yeah hold up", I say, picking the call up. He lets his arms fall to his sides as he sighs.
"Mrs Flenory",
"Hi Noah", she says just as the bell for dinner rings.
"Oh is that the bell? Are you busy right now?", she asks.
"Oh no no, it's just dinner. How are you? Missing us already?", I joke with a small laugh and she chuckles a bit.
"Of course but I called to ask if you've seen Abby all day. She hasn't been picking my phone calls", she says and I look back at the cabins.
The rest of the girls were trooping out so I watched, to check out for a slow chubby girl but she's out of sight. Maybe she's just too slow to come out.. I haven't seen her in a while though. The last time I saw her was when she came out for tutoring..
I look at Asher. His attention on some girls passing by as he shoves his hands into his pockets, rocking himself back and forth with the heel of his feet.
"Noah.. Hello, Noah are you there?", Abby's mum asks, reminding me she's still on the call.
"Yeah uh, I'm sure she's just sleeping",
"Oh well since it's dinner time can you do me the favor of waking her up?",
"Yeah sure",
"Okay thanks Noah",
"Anytime",
I get off the call and face Asher and his tired look, "Are you done?",
"Did you tutor her today?", I go straight to the point. When it comes to her I don't like beating around the bush.
"Tutor who?",
"Did you tutor her?", I ask again, more serious this time.
He groans, "Not this again",
"Just answer me", I sternly say.
"And you think I'd waste my time doing that?", he asks and as much as I want to fight him over it I don't cause I have more important things to take care of. I have a weird feeling.. something's off.
"Go hang out with Don",
"What? Are you kidding me?",
"Would smile if I was joking", I shrug as I make my way to my princess's temporary castle.
