I get into the house, shrugging my jacket off as I simultaneously take off my shoes.
My mum looks up from her laptop to me then smiles. "Hey sweetie, how was school today?", she asks as I walk up to her.
"Fine", I say then ask, "Um, can I go out for a party?".
Her eyes widen a bit and I'm expecting what went down with Callie and her dad to surface but when there's a smirk on her lips the thought dies down.
"Look who decided to step up her A game.. wait is it an actual party or just a small get together filled with nerds playing checkers?", she rants.
"Uh, no", I answer then chuckle. "Just a regular party Noah invited me to", I say. Well more like forced me to.
"Okay", she simply says then goes back to her laptop.
"So..", I stretch so she looks back at me. "Can I go?".
"Yeah of course.. this is like the first time you're asking for my permission to go somewhere and you think I'd say no", she says then adds, "But be careful".
"Okay, thanks", I say getting off the couch while she goes back to whatever she's working on.
"At least Noah's there", she mutters and I narrow my eyes at the back of her head. What's that suppose to mean?.
I walk upstairs and to my room. Firstly, I'm gonna take a warm bath..
I head to the bathroom and when I take my clothes off, I take a moment to look at myself in the mirror.
I look so fat.. well I am. I sigh, looking at my love handles. I hate that this is my identity.. someone who tries to describe me is gonna point out how fat I am first before adding any other detail.
I get into the shower and sadly take a bath. I hate paying attention to my body.. it just ruins my mood, makes it all sour.
I put on my robe once I get out of the shower. I put my curler on. I don't want it straight tonight so I'm going for curly. It's usually that way but I just wanna give it that curl ends not curly all over.
"Being fat is not a crime", I absentmindedly say waiting for the curler to get hot.
It takes me over an hour to get my hair done and perfect. I let out a sigh of relief when I see how well done it is. This is literally the best curls I've done on my hair. I'm proud.
I pick out my phone then put on YouTube and search for a quick makeup tutorial. I get my makeup kit out and watch the whole video first before restarting it and following it up.
When I get the lip linear wrong for the seventh time I place it down and slouch back on my chair.. God, this is so hard. How does Loren get ready for school everyday?.
I give up putting on just lip gloss. I smack my lips repeatedly, trying to get it properly settled in. I check my phone for time and my eyes widen when I see it's already past eight.
Oh my God..
I get up in a rush but then pause.. I don't even know what time the party's starting.
I sigh then walk over to my window. I push the curtains open and I'm met with an empty room opposite mine. Why isn't he at home yet?.
When do parties start anyway? 9 or 10.. if it was a checkers party like my mum said, it would have started 7 sharp and I'd be meeting the end.
Just as I'm about to walk away, Noah's bedroom door opens and his tall figure walks in putting the lights on. He looks up like he knows I'm watching and meets my eyes.
"Hi princess..", he trails walking closer to his window.
"Hey", I say.
"You look so pretty", he says with a small smile and I blush.
"Thanks", I say. "So um when's this party starting?", I ask and he chuckles so I raise a brow.
"For someone who didn't wanna go, you seem excited", he says crossing his arms and I roll my eyes.
"I'm not.. I just like being on time for things", I say as a matter of fact.
"It's a party, you're never too late", he says then looks down at his watch, "Meet you outside in an hour".
And he winks before walking away from his window. I breath out.. he takes my breath away every darn time.
I take out my outfit from my closet and head to my bathroom to change. I take my robe off, putting on the crop top on and then the skirt.
I smile a bit at the text on the top of the shirt. Pink baby was written across the chest area. I step back to look at my reflection carefully.
I haven't eaten since lunch so my stomach isn't too bad for this outfit. I sigh, I feel so exposed.. can I actually pull this off.
I take a deep breath before walking back into my room. I pull my drawer out, picking a few bracelets and a necklace out. I put them on and pick out a pair of heels I've never worn.
I take a seat on the bed so I can put them on. Once they're on I support myself up with the help of the bed. I don't usually wear heels so this is foreign.
I practice a bit, walking around my room like I was in some pageantry. When my legs don't seem too wobbly again I pick up my silver purse from my closet, put my lip gloss and phone in it then head downstairs.
I walk up to my mum so I can show her my outfit but then I see her sleeping on the couch. I sigh then watch her snore peacefully on the couch with her laptop on her lap.
I put it away. She must be tired from working so much. I notice she's wearing a t-shirt so I decide to get her a blanket.
I'm about to walk upstairs but I stop, taking my shoes off before freely going up to her room. I search a bit before my eyes land on a blue blanket on the bed. I walk up to it then pick it up, her phone makes a beep sound and I assume it's a notification but when it starts beeping continuously I make my way to her bedside table to get it.
I put the blanket under my armpit before picking the phone up. I check the notifications but they aren't just random app notifications like I expected, they're text messages.. who would be texting so late, my mum's like an antisocial just like me.
I unlock the phone then tap on the text that was popping up the screen. My heart skips when I see Jamie as the contact who's texting her. No, it can't be.. why would he be texting her? I look through their texts..
"Hi Alex, how's Abby doing?", -Jamie
"You keep asking about her, why don't you come see her?", -Mum
"I' can't, I'm pretty sure she hates me now", -Jamie
I scroll up..
"I've sent you the allowance for this month", -Jamie
"I'm taking it just because of Abby", -Mum
I drop the phone back down and hold on to my chest, trying to calm my rapid heart beat down.
My mum was still talking to my dad and she never told me about it. Why?, why would she do something like this.
"Abby?.. what are you..", my mum trails as she enters the room and sees my terrified face. "Honey what's wrong?".
"Why.. why would you keep something like this from me?", I question and she looks confused but there's a beep from her phone again so she walks to it and discovers her phone is unlocked.
"Abby why would you go through my phone?", she questions but I cut in.
"Why would you hide something like that from me?", I ask louder this time and she sighs.
"Honey I'm sorry but I was just trying to protect you", she says trying to come closer but I move away shaking my head in disappointment.
"From what?", I yell and she's speechless. "Unbelievable", I mutter then storm out of her room.
Just as I get downstairs the door bell rings. "Abby wait", my mum says running after me.
But I don't stop, I grab my shoes and head for the door. I fling it open and before Noah can utter a word I grab his hand and lead him down the lawn to his car.
"What's going on?", he asks as I pull him.
"Let's go", I say.
Noah lets me into his car then turns around to get in. He quickly starts the car and drives us out of there. Which is the only thing I want right now.
"You okay?", he asks and I shake my head. "What's wrong? What happened?".
"I don't wanna talk about it", I say quietly and he nods.
"Okay", he simply says then adds, "You look hot by the way".
The corner of my lips tilt up but it doesn't bloom to a full smile, I'm too upset for it to. My phone starts to ring inside my purse and I sigh.
"It's probably my mum", I say pulling my phone out so I can turn it off. But when I see it's Callie I pick it up. "Hey?".
"Oh hi Abby um, are you at the party already?", she asks.
"Um no but I'm on my way though",
"Oh please can you stop by my house?", she asks and I look up to check if we've driven past her house yet and luckily we haven't.
"Okay sure, just be out", I say.
"Okay cool", she says then ends the call. I'm guessing her dad finally agreed.
"Who's that?",
"Callie. She wants to come too, can she?",
"Yeah sure", Noah says not seeming to care.
"Okay, we're picking her up though", I mention.
"Okay", he says then glances at me. "Pink baby?".
I look down at my shirt, "Yeah".
"It looks good on you", he says and I smile a bit.
"Thanks", I say then notice we're close to Callie's house. "Oh slow down we're here".
Noah pulls over, stopping in front of Callie's house where she stood wearing a blue dress and silver shoes with a little purse to match her shoes. She gets into the car and closes the door after her.
"Hey", she greets as Noah starts driving again.
"Hey", we say in unison.
"What happened to your dad?", I ask turning to look at her.
"Oh he said it was fine", she says then let's out a nervous chuckle as she looks back at her house.
"Okay", I say looking forward. With the way her dad disagreed at first it was quite unbelievable that he let her go.
The car rolls to a stop and a house comes into view. The faint sound of music moved around the neighborhood which clearly meant the party was in full swing already.
I put on my shoes and I'm surprised to see Noah's at my side opening the door for me.
"My princess?", with a courtesy, he stretches his hand out for me. I take it getting down the car.
"Thanks", I say and I almost forget Callie standing beside us. "Uh..", I trail awkwardly.
"You ready?", he asks intertwining our hands.
I let out a breath, "I guess".
"It's okay.. I'm here", he says then kisses the back of my hand that was intertwined with his. I nod and we walk up to the house.
