Chapter 45: Chap 45 : People Like Me

His Chubby PrincessWords: 9995

The car rolls to a stop and I slightly frown, the way I always do when the ride with Noah was over. I turn to him to see him already staring at me so I blush.

"I guess this is how far my carriage can go princess", he says and I giggle a bit so he smiles.

"Apparently", I say then let out a sigh as I grab my bag from behind.

"So..", he stretches and I raise a brow. "Party on Friday?".

I frown, "Uh no".

"You can't decline, you lost the game remember? and besides you owe me a big one", he says then points to the small bump on his head. Oh c'mon it's not even that big.

I groan, "Okay.. but I'm not wearing that pink dress".

"You have to, that's what I asked for after you lost", he points out and I sigh. Guess there's no way out of this.

"Fine! But if you lose, I'm making you wear a santa costume", I say and he chuckles.

"Let's see if that happens", he says and I give him a daring look which he scoffs at.

"See you tomorrow princess", he says mockingly and I stick my tongue out at him as I get down, so he chuckles.

I walk up our front lawn then take one last look at Noah's car before getting into the house.

I take my shoes off at the door and a magnificent smell runs into my nostrils so I quickly walk to the kitchen. All those running took all my energy and I need good food to regain it.

"Hi sweetie", my mum smiles when she sees me walking in.

"Hi, what you cooking?", I ask peering over her shoulder to look at the burner.

"Just beef stew", she says and I think the just should be far away from that sentence because no one cooks beef stew like ma mum. It's like food they serve in heaven.. yeah, that good.

"Is it ready?", I ask in excitement but when she shakes her head I frown.

"But it'll be soon, just go take a shower and get back", she says and I nod, taking a good look at the scrumptious meal before going upstairs.

I walk into my room with a small stretch as I take my bag off, tossing it to the side. I take off my socks next then my jacket.

I hold on to my head, I think I'm starting to get a headache. Too much work in a day for a chubby girl.

I struggle to take my dress off as my stomach holds it in place and makes it extremely difficult to take off. I tug again then pant a bit.. then tug again and this time, the dress actually leaves my stomach but unfortunately it gets stuck on my arms. Darn it.

"That looks harder than a math question", I faintly hear so I turn with my arms outstretched and my dress over my head. I look like a sunflower but with arms poking out by the head.

"Yeah think?", I ask rhetorically, bending my head to look at Noah from my bedroom window.

"Need help?", he asks as he holds the top of his window frame and leans forward. I couldn't see his face properly but I sure as heck know he's shirtless.

"No", I say slowly moving away from the window.

"Where you going?", he asks moving as well so his view of me remains.

"Away", I say and it's like he doesn't hear me so he leans forward again.

"What?",

"Bye", I yell running to the end of my room where he won't be able to see me.

I sit on the floor, take a few deep breaths and pull hard on my dress. It finally comes out but with a snap and I let out a sigh. Did that ice cream make me fatter?.

I walk into the bathroom and I nearly scream at my reflection. I look like Merida from Brave if she got run over by a herd of horses. Ugh, it's gonna take so long to brush.

I slightly groan stripping myself off my clothes before getting into the shower. When I'm done I walk back into the room and gasp when I see Noah sitting comfortably on my bed.

"Abby, dinner's ready", my mum calls out from the living room.

"I.. I'll be there in a minute", I yell back then focus on Noah, "What are you doing here?".

"Why'd you run off?", he simply asks resting back on his elbows.

"Noah I'm not dressed-",

"So? It's not the first time I've seen you like this", he cuts me off. I sigh at him then wonder if anyone saw him climbing down his window shirtless with just grey sweatpants on and a pair of yellow Crocs. I snort.

"Where'd you get that?", I ask but his attention's somewhere else. Noah's wandering eyes stop at my thighs before rushing back up to my eyes.

"Hmm?", he hums and I notice his eyes a bit darker than usual.

"Your..", I trail clearing my throat because for some reason which is connected to the way he looked at me, I can't find my voice, "Your Crocs, where'd you get them?".

"Oh, it's Asher's.. never took them back", he says and I nod looking away. The look in his eyes were too strong for me to hold.

"You lose again", he says then smirks. I face palm then look back up just to find him standing in front of me.

My breath hitches up my throat in an instant and the grip on my towel tightens.

"You know what I want?", he asks, glancing at my lips in the sexiest manner possible.

"W..what?", I stutter and he leans in stopping just an inch away, that our noses were touching.

"Your lips-",

"Abby!", my mum yells from downstairs.

Noah and I pull apart and I try to catch my breath before yelling back, "Coming!".

"Be fast about it will you", she replies.

"Okay", I yell back then let out a breath. I look back at Noah to see he's already at the window. How did he?.. what is he? Edward?.

"Wha-",

"Close your curtains while you get dressed", he says then goes out the window.

I walk to my locker huffing with three books on my arm and one underneath. I've been reading in the library and for some reason which is related to me scribbling on paper, I prefer reading with mine and not the library books.

I place the books into my locker, putting away some from my bag and replacing them with a few.

"Hi", Callie says coming into view.

"Hey", I greet warmly and she gives out a small smile.

"Wanna walk home together?", she asks and I nod.

"Yeah sure", I say then close my locker, "Let's go".

Callie and I walk out of school and as we walk past the parking lot, I notice a familiar wrangler and a tall handsome lad leaning on it.

His eyes follow me as Callie and I walk past.

"Oh no", Callie says then stays rooted in one position as she looks ahead.

"What?", I ask following her gaze.

Mr Jefferson's blue Cadillac, if we weren't mistaking, was parked just a few steps away.

"What is he doing here?", she exclaims then pinches the bridge of her nose with a sigh escaping her lips.

"Um..", I trail completely speechless.

Mr Jefferson soon sees us and waves at us with a bright smile plastered on his thin lips. Well we can't run then.

Callie groans as we walk towards her dad's car. She holds a hand out to cover her face and at first I thought she was blocking the sun but she was actually hiding from embarrassment.

"What are you doing here?", she asks her dad while gritting her teeth in anger.

"What'd you mean?, to pick you up of course", he says and then turns to me, "Hi Abby".

"Hi Mr Jefferson", I greet back and he smiles right back and It was like greeting Callie again. They had similar smiles and eyes.

"I thought I told you not to come", she says sounding annoyed.

"I didn't think you'd be safe", he says almost worriedly.

She sighs, "I was going to come home with Abby. She walks home all the time and she's fine!".

"Well it's fine.. that he's here", I say and Mr Jefferson looks at me while Callie gives me a look. "Because.. it saves us from walking", I quickly say shrugging at her and she rolls her eyes.

"See, why sweat home when you can sit and relax home", he points out with a smile and Callie shakes her head before getting into the car.

I look back to take one last look at Noah. He was occupied now, talking to his friends but as if he knew I was looking, he looks up and catches my eyes before losing them as I get into the car.

Mr Jefferson starts the car and we drive out of school.

"So..", Callie stretches to get my attention so I turn to her. "Are you tutoring Hernandez today?".

"Um no, I already did that this morning before we had math", I tell her. I knew I was gonna be busy today so I tutored Hernandez on the bleachers before fourth.

"Oh, so.. any plans for today?", she asks.

"Uh yeah, I'm actually going to a party tonight", I say and I notice Mr Jefferson look at us through the rearview mirror.

"Oh my God, can I come?", she asks

"Absolutely not", her dad says stopping any words from coming out of my mouth and she frowns looking over at him from the rearview mirror.

"And why not?", she questions.

"Cause today's Family fun night", he says and she sighs rolling her eyes.

"Can't I just miss this one?", she pleads.

"Nope",

"Come on, I've never missed one my whole life so why can't I just miss this one?",

"Callie these nights are important and you can't just miss it because of some boring high school party", he says and she scoffs.

"What part of high school parties are boring?", she asks.

"C'mon it's just loud music and sweaty beings", he says luckily passing a yellow light before it turned red. Would've been real awkward sitting here while they argued with no interruption.

"Well I want to experience that", she says.

"You're not going and that's final", her dad says ending the conversation.

Callie lays back on her seat and huffs angrily. I on the other hand sit back and awkwardly fiddle with my fingers.

The ride remains silent until we get to their house.

"Bye Abby", she coldly says getting down the car and then slamming the door shut.

Mr Jefferson sighs and catches my gaze from the rearview. "Should I drive you home Abby?".

"Oh no it's fine, I can walk from here", I say then add, "Thanks for the ride", before getting down from the car.

"You're welcome", he says with a smile but it isn't as bright as earlier, it's strained. I nod at him then start walking home.

Wonder when those two are gonna get along. I get that she wants to be free and do things all by herself but she should know her dad just cares about her a lot. Most people don't get that.. people like me.
