Chapter 83 Sheâs Playing Hard to Get Who else could be this handsome other than Leo?
Surprised by his visit, she asked curtly with quirked brows, âIs there something I can help you with, Mr.
Alston?â
âIâve come to thank you,â said Leo with a slight frown before pulling out a document. âGenesis will give you twenty percent of the profits as gratitude for helping the company secure the collaboration with Mr.
Steward. This is the contract. It will come into effect as soon as you sign it.â
At that, Amelie lowered her head and gazed at the contract while pursing her lips slightly.
How typical of Leo to handle anything and everything with money.
âThis is unnecessary, Mr. Alston,â responded the young woman as she gently pushed the document back to Leo. âI didnât approach Mr. Steward because of you or Genesis; I did it because of Mr. Walsh.
As such, Iâll have to turn you down.â
With that, she bypassed Leo and strode away while the man latched his gradually dimming gaze on her back as he clenched his fist, crumpling the papers as a result.
In the past, he felt uncomfortable when she looked at him with a love-filled gaze, but now, he still felt uncomfortable when she looked at him with nothing but aloofness.
âWhat is Leo doing at Amelieâs door? What is the meaning of this?â
A distance away, Ashton was helping Elyse back to her hotel room.
While he gazed tenderly at Elyse, the womanâs gaze was latched onto Leo.
Her eyes trembled once again.
âThat Amelie sure is a b*tch!â Ashton scowled, having nothing but repugnance for the young woman.
âEverything she did was to get Leoâs attention, and to think he actually fell for it!â
âCanât you stop with your bullsh*t guesses?!â Toby was exasperated when he heard his friendâs baseless accusations. âMiss Dillon helped us out of goodness, and Leo went to her only to give her his thanks. Thatâs all there is.â
âGoodness, my *ss!â No way would Ashton believe it to be the truth. âThe way I see it, she still canât let go of Leo and is just playing hard to get! That woman has nothing but mind games in her! Leo will fall for that b*tchâs tricks one day if he keeps at this! Heâll be rueing for the rest of his life when that day comes!â
âYou shouldnât look down on Amelie like that. Commoners like us are way out of her league,â Toby hinted and went into his room, no longer wanting to be around the two.
âWhat is he talking about? Me, out of Dillonâs league? As if! Is Walsh even sane?! Iâd puke if I had someone like Dillon polishing my shoes!â roared Ashton, for he hated how Toby defended Amelie.
âAlright, cut it out.â Elyse stopped him limply. âActually, Amelie Dillon is Dash.â
âDash? The car racer, Dash?!â Ashton was taken aback for a second.
He was also into car racing since Elyse was interested in it.
To him, the young woman was an unobtainable goddess, and he loved to develop anything she liked into his hobby so that they had something in common.
Being a decent racer, he naturally knew who Dash was. However, the latter barely ever showed themself. What was more, he didnât join them the other time, so he didnât know about Amelieâs alias until this very moment.
âYouâre messing with me, arenât you?â
âSure, I have all the patience to do that,â taunted Elyse with deeply furrowed brows. She gave the man little patience when the two were alone.
âThatâs⦠Shut up!â Ashtonâs jaw dropped once more.
Elyse galled, seeing that Ashton was all over Amelie. As such, she related the race to him.
âWhat? She concealed her identity to humiliate you?! Does Dillion think sheâs something just because sheâs Dash?! That shameless wench!â Ashton flew into a rage once more.
How could he sit back and do nothing when someone had bullied his fair maiden?!
âDonât worry, Elyse. Iâll reveal this to the association and see that she can never enter another competition ever again!â
âDonât. Thereâs no point making a fuss over something so minor.â Elyes acted as though she wanted to leave the matter behind. âActually, what baffles me now is her relationship with Starlight Mediaâs CEO.
Though it is maddening that she used such a method to ruin my relationship with Leo, I donât want to fuss over all that anymore. Itâll be a win-win situation for everyone if she ends up with Starlight Mediaâs CEO. Iâm just worried that her relationship with him and what sheâs done in the past was only to trick everyone. By thenâ¦â
âIs there anything that b*tch wonât do?!â Ashton slandered Amelie again. âLetâs be real for a second, though. Do you think the CEO of Starlight Media would be into a bimbo like her? I bet she orchestrated everything!â
âI wouldnât be so sureâ¦â
âRelax, leave this to me. Iâll do the digging. I, for one, would like to see if she has anything to do with the CEO of Starlight!â Ashton patted his chest firmly.
Elyseâs business was also his. He had to get to the bottom of it!
At that, Elyse nodded in satisfaction.
She was currently seething with hatred for Amelie, and the only reason she hadnât done anything outrageous to this day was that she was worried about what the CEO of Starlight Media would do.
If their relationship had been made up, Ashton would teach the woman a good lesson without her asking.
âYou should get to it,â Elyse urged, in a bit of a rush.
However, Ashton was still worried about her. âWhat about you?â
âI still have Leo with me, donât I?â
At that, Elyse sauntered toward Leo.
Meanwhile, Ashton suppressed the feeling that flashed across his eyes and left, feeling resigned.
âLeo,â Elyse called out tenderly as she approached the man, who looked up expressionlessly.
Seeing the way that he reacted, she instantly put on a grieving face but barely revealed much. âSorry, I thought I managed to convince Mr. Steward, but whoâd have thought⦠Iâm sorry.â
âIâm not the one you should apologize to but Amelie,â Leo corrected.
âWhat do you mean, Leo?â Taken aback, Elyse whined at once. âI was never the one who insulted her.
Why should I apologize? Just because she secured the project for you? How can you do this to me, Leo?!â
Her eyes were red-rimmed with oncoming tears.
However, for some reason, Leo couldnât feel bad for her even though she looked pitiful.
âJust because you donât tell me some things doesnât mean Iâm oblivious to it. Think back to whatever you said to Owen.â
âW-What have I said to him?â Despite refuting, Elyseâs face had become ghastly pale, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
âItâs Dillon, isnât it?! She snitched on me! You canât trust a word she says.â
She thought it through and believed it could only be Amelieâs doing. After all, it was impossible for a big shot like Owen to gossip.
Just as Elyse wanted to say more, Leo extended an arm to reveal an object in his palm.
