Chapter 30 Are You Really Sure You Wonât Regret Going Against Him?
âIf I hadnât said those words back then, what would the Alston Family be like?â Amelie stared straight at Leoâs face and cocked her head, a half-smile on her face.
At that time, Genesis Company was preparing to be listed, and the preparation work had been going on for 2 years. Also, 80% of Genesis Companyâs products were endorsed by Elyse. As Elyseâs two-timing became a reality, the Alstons would suffer direct losses! The company would have no hopes of getting listed, and Leoâs efforts for those 2 years would be in vain! Product sales would decrease at a shocking rate, and Genesis would face an unprecedented financial crisis! Leo would be the one being cheated on, and he would become the joke of the city!
The rasher Amelieâs decisions were back then, the deeper her love for Leo.
He held her gaze for a few seconds. Those few seconds warmed her heart slightly. So, he still thought he had the upper hand, didnât he?
âStop changing the topic. Whereâs Bria?â Jodie feared that Leo would be convinced by Amelie and proceed to give up on Briaâs custody, so she hastily interrupted.
With that, Jodie walked over to Leo and tugged at him. âLeo, this woman is very calculating. Donât fall into her trap.â
âYes, Leo.â Melissa walked over as well. âNo matter what happened before, you two are already divorced. You have to make a decision about the child!â
He averted his gaze from Melissaâs voice.
âAmelie, thatâs another topic altogether. If you want a part of the profit, the Alstons earned back then, get a lawyer to discuss it with me. Now, I want Bria!â he said.
To him, even if the Alstons profited, it was only an unintentional side effect while Amelie carried out her plan.
âHah!â
Her heart grew cold once again.
What was wrong with Amelie? Why was she still hoping for a trace of humanity in this cold-blooded and cruel family? Moreover, she was willing to try her best to keep things peaceful for Briaâs sake. Until now, Leo still thought she was a materialistic woman and was always after his money! Since he thought she loved money, no amount of hard work from her would matter to him. Why would she waste time on this?
Amelie suppressed the desolation and fury in her heart. When she raised her head again, there was no longer any emotion on her face.
âDo you really want Bria?â Amelie asked.
Leoâs patience was quickly wearing thin from the constant back-and-forth, and he frowned deeply.
Melissa snorted coldly, wordless ridicule.
Jodie pouted. âWhat a load of nonsense!â
âTake your time to answer. Have a look at this first.â
With that, she lowered her head and dialed a number. âCome here.â
In under 2 minutes, a car drove in. Julia stepped out of the car.
âAmelie, what are you bringing Julia here for?â Seeing Julia, Jodie put on a guarded expression. âAre you playing the old trick? Are you going to spread this incident all over the internet?â
She stayed silent, ignoring Jodie and her words right out.
This made Jodie feel like she was a nobody in front of Amelie and wasnât even a threat to the latter. Her expression darkened considerably. In addition, her words became even crueler.
âIâm telling you, thereâs no use even if you broadcast this to the whole world! Bria is a child of the Alston Family, and no one can change that! Youâd better stop playing tricks and hand over the child nicely.
Perhaps my brother will give you some money for birthing the child!â
âHah!â
Julia laughed aloud, without a care in the world.
Jodie, who hadnât seen much of the world, thought the Alstons were the only wealthy family. Amelieâs wealth was so great that she couldnât even spend it all, so why would she go after the Alstonsâ meager coins?
However, Jodie refused to back off as she said with increasing viciousness, âIs 2 million enough for you? The boss of Starlight Media is rich, but the money is all his. You canât keep asking him for money like a beggar, can you? With this 2 million, youâll be able to feel some pride and parade around! Then, we can be sure we didnât mistreat you!â
Julia waited until she was almost done before speaking up. âRelax, Amy isnât the only one. Even Bria doesnât intend to cause you to worry.â
She took out a piece of paper and waved it at the crowd. âThis is a carte blanche. My boss asked me to get a test done for her. See for yourselves!â
âWhat test?â
The three were stunned. Leo looked at Amelie, perplexed.
Jodie was the first to grab the test reports and read them.
â99.99% DNA match? Biologically related? Brianna Dillon? Whoâs that?â
âBrianna Dillon is Bria,â Amelie replied calmly.
Briaâs last name was originally Alston, and it changed to Dillon only recently.
âSo⦠this DNA report is between Bria and the boss of Starlight Media?â Melissa immediately understood the situation and couldnât control her loud shouts, which exploded like a bomb.
Leoâs gaze constricted, and it turned into a raging fury that pierced through Amelieâs body!
âYes.â Amelie nodded calmly, ignoring his gaze. âThe DNA test was carried out on Bria and the boss of Starlight Media.â
She wasnât lying. She did take her own hair and Briaâs hair to get their DNAs tested.
âSo you made us raise another personâs child for 4 years?â Melissa had never been insulted like this before, and she was so mad that her lips were trembling.
âMrs. Alston, you should check the facts. Save for sleeping at your house, Bria never used a cent of your familyâs money,â Julia reminded her.
Amelie paid for all of Briaâs expenses out of her own pocket. Julia knew that too well. Even so, she had angered the Alstons.
âAmelie, you wretch! How dare you push someone elseâs mutt on my brother! And you kept insisting you married for the sake of the Alston Family!â Jodie was so furious that she leaped over to Amelie, trying to tear out the latterâs hair.
Julia blocked her off with a single arm.
âMiss Alston, you are a daughter of a prestigious family, if nothing else. Who would dare marry you if you act like a crazy woman?â
âYou!â Jodie was so pissed that her insides were boiling, but she had no choice but to relent.
Julia was competent, and she was bold, too. She might really broadcast Jodieâs antics to the entire country secretly, and it would be over for Jodie then.
Melissa walked over to them, her breaths uneven as her heart thumped. It hurt.
She tried her best to maintain her image as she looked at Julia. âIsnât the boss of Starlight Media, your boss, being too much of a bully?â
âOh, how so? Why would others bully you if you hadnât bullied someone else?â Juliaâs words were laced with meaning.
âAll in all, Bria has nothing to do with you, Alstons, so stop bothering her!â
With that, Julia tugged at Amelie. âLetâs go.â
âOkay.â She followed her into the car.
When she opened the car door, Julia looked back at Leo with intention. âMr. Alston, donât worry.
Starlight Media will wholly belong to Bria and Amy in the future, so your 2 or 3 million doesnât mean much to Amy. Why donât you use that money to buy some proper clothes for Miss Jodie?â
âDamn you!â
Hearing the mockery in Juliaâs words, Jodie was so furious that her face distorted, shouting and screaming. How dare you call me underdressed!
After that, Melissa nudged Leo. âLeo, are we going to let Amelie off for deceiving us like this? Thereâs also the boss of Starlight Media. There arenât any grudges between us, so why would he insult us like this?â
âOh, right.â Juliaâs voice sounded again. âDonât feel too bad about it. When Amy married into your family, she solved a crisis in your family, didnât she? Sheâll forgo the compensation Mr. Alston spoke of.
Youâre all even now.â
After speaking her piece, she finally lowered her head and got into the car.
The car drove away.
In the rearview mirror, Jodie was still seen in her fury. Melissaâs good image had completely disappeared, and Leo clenched his fists, his expressions unreadable.
Julia glanced worriedly at Amelie. âMaking this decision means youâll make the Alston Family your enemy. Are you really sure you wonât regret that?â
