âNo!â Eudora George sniffed, âDidnât you explain it to me? You donât have any other choice. Well, letâs stop talking about this. Aunt Valerie told me that she was going to prepare your favourite dish. Letâs go down and eat together.â
Amos Granger looked straight at her and asked, âWhatâs my favourite dish?â
âYour favourite dish â¦â Eudora suddenly realized that Amos didnât have a favourite dish . He was not a picky eater. As long as he could eat it, he would accept it.
In order to change the subject, what she said was really full of loopholes!
âSorry, I remembered wrongly.â Eudora rubbed her hair in discomfort, and said, âI was just thinking about the competition. Iâm sorry.â
It was his fault, but she kept apologizing.
Amos felt uncomfortable when he saw Eudora keep scratching her hair in annoyance.
He held her hand and held her in his arms.
âHalf a year, okay? Give me half a year. If she gets better, weâll get married immediately.â said Amos.
Upon saying that, he took a ring out from his coat, and handed it to her.
It was a simple ring, but it was like a lockette that locked her heart.
Eudora stretched out her hand and said, âPut it on for me!â
Amos took out the ring from the box, and put it on her ring finger.
Eudora held out her hand and looked at it for a moment. She was finally smiling.
âItâs really gorgeous,â said Eudora.
Her smiling eyes were full of happiness. He grabbed her into his arms and said, âIâll carry you down to the dining hall!â
âNo!â Eudora hurriedly waved her hand, âAunt Valerie is still downstairs, itâs embarrassing.â
But Amos insisted, âAunt Valerie will be happy for us.â
After that, he lifted her up in a bridal style.
Eudora screamed in surprise and subconsciously wrapped her arms around Amosâ neck.
As Aunt Valerie saw the scene when they were heading towards the dining table, she smiled happily. She packed up her things quickly and said, âThe food is ready. Iâll go home first!â
After Aunt Valerie left, Eudora glared at Amos and said, âLook at what you did, you scared Aunt Valerie away.â
Amos burst into laughter and said, âSheâs giving us some space.â
Eudora curved her lips. She took a spoonful of brussels sprouts and fed it to Amos, âHere you go.â
Amos took the mouthful and chewed the vegetables in his mouth.
âIs it delicious?â asked Eudora.
Amos nodded and said, âNot bad.â
âThen you have to remember this taste. From now on, this is your favorite dish!â Eudora was, in fact, playing a prank on him because Amos had deliberately exposed her.
âHmm?â Amos raised his eyebrows and looked at her, âYou suddenly had the nerve to prank me?â
Eudora raised her chin, âAre you going to eat it?â
âYes!â Amos smiled helplessly. He simply got up to place the rest of the brussels sprouts in front of his plate, and started to eat quickly.
After he had eaten most of the vegetables, Eudora was dumbfounded. âStop eating! Isnât it bitter?â
âItâs delicious!â Amos said with a smile. Not only that, he ate it with pleasure.
Eudora was stunned. Was it really delicious? She picked up a spoonful of the brussels sprouts and tasted it. The next second, her eyebrows were almost wrinkled.
âWhat kind of vegetable is this? Why is it so bitter?â said Eudora.
She had tasted brussels sprouts before, but this was the most awful she had tasted.
She suddenly felt pity for Amos who was eating something so bitter, just to please her. Eudora quickly reached out and took the plate away from him.
âDonât eat it anymore. I was just kidding!â said Eudora.
âNo!â Amos laughed, âEverything my wife said is right!â
Eudora was stunned. This was the first time that he had addressed her as his wife!
Her little heart suddenly throbbed. She had never experienced this kind of feeling before, even when she was in the Meyer family.
âWhatâs wrong?â Amos looked at her.
âNothing!â Eudora shook her head. After thinking for a while, she added, âHoney!â
Hearing this, Amosâ eyes were wide open. The next second, he put down the plate in his hand and went straight to pick up Eudora.
âWhatâs wrong?â asked Eudora in confusion.
Amosâ lips curled up slightly, âWe are going to have s*x!â
Eudora was left speechless.
It was their first time calling each other husband and wife. Amos was really enthusiastic that night, and he kept asking Eudora to address him as âhoneyâ.
Eudoraâs eyes were dazed and she stared at the man who was not tired at all.
âHoney!â
Upon hearing that, Amos became even more enthusiastic.
After that, Eudora was very tired and hungry. Amos washed her up and took her downstairs to eat.
Eudora was nestled in his arms, hanging on to him like a koala bear.
Amos rubbed her messy hair and said, âYou felt very good. But, for your sake, Iâm going to be more gentle next time.â
While they were eating, Amosâ cell phone suddenly rang.
He paused for a moment and then picked it up.
Eudora, who was leaning against his shoulder, didnât say a word when she heard that he just replied âHmmâ.
âIs there something wrong with Wendy?â She looked up in a daze.
âYeah!â Amos nodded, putting another piece of meat into her mouth.
Eudora shook her head and said, âGo ahead! I can eat by myself.â
âThereâs no need to hurry!â Amos said in a low voice. âYouâve lost a lot of weight recently, eat more.â
Eudora had no choice but to take another bite and said, âIâm full.â
Upon realising that she really didnât want to eat anymore, Amos put down his cutleries and carried her to their bedroom.
He placed her on the bed and planted a kiss on her forehead. He stroked her cheek and said, âSleep early. Iâll be back when you wake up.â
âOkay!â Eudora nodded and kissed him. âBe careful.â
When Amos was out of her sight, Eudoraâs face became gloomy. She glanced at the clock on the wall and it was almost eleven oâclock.
Half a year!
Eudora looked at the clock without blinking, watching the time pass by.
As time passed by, the needle of the clock struck 12. She picked up a notebook from the table and opened it. She drew a vertical bar on the cover.
Day One.
Amos left for Wendy on the first day of the agreed half year period.
Eudora stroked the cold ring on her finger and finally took it off, and put it in the drawer next to her.
â¦
When Amos arrived at Wendyâs condominium, the room was ablazed with lights.
The servant stood in the living room and looked at Amos with fear. âMiss Liam unexpectedly woke up, and then she couldnât sleep. She was screaming inside her room. I really canât do anything about it. Please go and have a look!â begged the servant.
Amos frowned and asked, âHave you called the doctor?â
âYes, but the doctor is still on his way.â the servant replied.
âRush him!â After that, he quickly walked towards the bedroom.
Sounds of things dropping to the ground could be heard from Wendyâs room. The woman in the room seemed to have encountered a horrible thing. She broke things desperately and screamed loudly.
âGive me the key!â Amos reached out to the servant behind him.
The servant quickly handed him the key. As soon as the door was opened, a cup flew over towards his direction.
