The salesperson asked, âDo you guys still want the ring?â
âOf course!â Eudora chose a ring that looked simpler and more low-key.
She was going to wear it for the rest of her life. She didnât want it to be too fancy.
The salesperson took the ring out from the display case. Eudora tried to put it on but unexpectedly the ring slipped off from her finger.
Eudoraâs heart skipped a beat. She felt that something bad was going to happen.
The joy that filled her heart disappeared in the blink of an eye. She mumbled, âLetâs forget about it.â
âMiss, we can still size the ring for you. We can also ask our designer to modify it according to your preference. If you are in a hurry, we will contact the designer immediately. We will get it done by noon tomorrowâ¦â
âWe will come at tomorrow noon!â Amos made the final decision. After paying the deposit, he left with Eudora.
On the way back, Eudora felt inexplicably disappointed.
âWhatâs wrong?â Amos asked.
âNothing. Iâm just tired!â She answered.
Amos put her head onto his shoulder. âThen nap for a while!â
âAlright.â Eudora closed her eyes and fell asleep.
The next day was Eudoraâs birthday.
When she got up in the morning, Amos had already left. A small note was on the bedside table.
It was Amosâ handwriting. âI am going to the company. Iâll come back later to join you.â
Eudoraâs mood lit up as she basked under the warm morning sunlight that shone on her face through the window.
She smiled and went downstairs after washing up.
Cola ran up from the stairs and wagged its tail at her. Eudora picked Cola up and kissed it. âYouâve become much fatter!â
Aunt Valerie nodded and said, âCola is getting pickier now after it had your steak! Youâve spoilt him!â
âItâs okay! Amos is rich enough, right?â
Eudora said with a smile.
âYes! Youâre right.â Aunt Valerie couldnât refute that. Eudora had been very thrifty. But, she had always treated Cola very well.
Maybe it was because Amos was the one who gave her the puppy.
After breakfast, the kite storeowner delivered the kite to the house.
The kite had a very beautiful pattern. It was a silhouette of a couple and a dog. The design was not something very new.
Amos promised to come back later to make the kite with her. Thus, she left the kite on the lawn outside.
She took a photo and sent it to Amos.
âWaiting for you to come back.â
She went back into the house and helped Aunt Valerie to prepare the dishes tonight.
â¦
At the same time. In Valiant East. In Amosâ office.
Harley leaned on the sofa while Clint entered the room. âPresident Ganger, the ring you ordered yesterday is here.â
Harley immediately sat up and exclaimed, âA ring? Are you going to propose to Sister-in-law?â
Amos didnât say a word. He took the ring and studied it carefully.
Harley covered his face with his palms. âLook at your silly smile! Are you the Amos Granger I once know?â
Amos rolled his eyes at him and picked up the ring. He said, âLetâs call it a day. Iâll go back first.â
âOkay!â Clint nodded.
Harley immediately got up and said, âI am going too.â
He wanted to be part of his proposal.
Clint immediately followed suit. âIâm going tooâ¦â
Amos frowned. He wondered if Eudora was going to like to see them.
After pondering for a while, he nodded. âLetâs go.â
Clint and Harley looked at each other and smiled. When they were about to leave the room, Clintâs cell phone rang.
Clint said, âSorry, President Granger, Iâll have to answer this call.â
Harley joked, âCan I now call her my sister-in-law? I really didnât expect that someone as cold as you would get married before me. I thought that you would not want to get married and have children.â
âGet married and have children? That sounds good,â Amos thought.
Clintâs face changed suddenly.
âPresident Granger, we have a problem.â
âWhatâs wrong?â Amos frowned.
Clint explained, âThomas Shelby messed up our business in Brooklyn.â
Harleyâs eyes darkened. âI am going to get him in the future!â
Amos looked at Clint again. âAnything else?â
Clint had been with him for many years. Amos knew that there was definitely something worse.
As expected, Clint added, âTheyâd found her.â
Amosâ heart sank. âWho?â
âThe one weâve been looking for,â Clint replied.
Harleyâs eyes lit up. âIs it she?â
Amos paused for a moment before he replied, âWhat do they want?â
âThomas said heâll give us two choices. One is to collaborate with them. The second one is to kill her!â
âF*ck!â Harley smashed his fist down on the table. âAmos, Thomas Shelby doesnât have any good intentions. You and I both know what kind of business he does. He is trying to drag you down because he is not doing very well.. The police have been trying to get him. Donât fall into his trap.â
Amos kept quiet. Harley quickly added, âOn top of that, we donât even know if he really did find her. How did he find her if we have been actively searching her for years?â
Thomas could possibly lie to him. But if it was trueâ¦
Harley continued, âBesides, havenât you made up your mind? Donât cling to the past. You are getting married to Eudora anyway. Forget about it!â
It was impossible for Amos to forget about her.
Amos would never forget her eyes and smile.
She would not have been tortured by that woman if she didnât come to save him. He could not be an ungrateful man!
âI choose the third option! Clint, book me a ticket to Brooklyn. Right now!â
âAmos!â Harley gritted his teeth.
âI have no choice!â Amos replied seriously.
They had been friends for years. Harley knew that he would not be able to stop Amos.
He patted Amos on the shoulder. âIâll go with you.â
They dashed to the airport after Clint booked three flight tickets to Brooklyn.

The items Eudora bought at the mall yesterday were delivered to the house right after Aunt Valerie and she prepared the food.
Eudora replaced all the old furniture in the house before she went to the kitchen.
Eudora insisted to cook on her own so Aunt Valerie ended up assisting her.
Everything was all ready. The sun began to set. Eudora looked at the message on her cell. He did not reply.
She frowned and called Amos.
