His lips brushed hers, softly and delicately. The excitement in his heart was about to explode.
Eudoraâs heart skipped a beat. She relaxed her tense muscles and responded to his kiss passionately.
They stopped after a while, both panting. âDonât ever leave me,â he whispered.
Eudora was frozen at his words. She didnât know what he meant.
A nurse came into her room to change her bandage while she was about to clarify her doubt.
After the nurse left, he told, âSee you later. Iâll go out for a while.â
Eudora nodded. Her head still hurt. She fell asleep again after closing her eyes.
â¦
Clint was waiting for Amos outside Eudoraâs room.
As soon as they got in the car, Clint updated, âThe preliminary result of the police investigation shows that the driver was fatigued while he was driving this morning, which then led to the accident. They are closing the case soon.â
Amos narrowed his eyes. His prediction was accurate.
âWhat about our own investigation?â He asked.
âThe truck driver is a thug. He lost quite a big chunk of money to gambling a few days ago,â Clint continued, âIt looks like he is connected with Thomas Shelby.â
âThomas Shelby?â Amos snorted. âLetâs go.â
âWhere are we going?â Clint asked.
âLetâs pay Thomas Shelby a visit!â
In a private room of a night club.
A sexy, hot lady was lying on Thomasâ chest while he took a small sip of red wine. His hands were caressing her body while the lady moaned softly when he pinched her butt.
The door was pushed open from the outside. Thomas looked to the door and paused.
He burst out laughing when he saw Amos.
âPresident Granger, to what do I owe this pleasure?â He asked.
Amos chuckled, âIt looks youâre expecting me.â
âI know that your people have been secretly investigating me. If I didnât even know that, arenât I just waiting to be sent to the lionâs den?â Thomas teased.
Thomas was clearly threatening him although it sounded like a joke. He was a fat man and this had always made his smile appear to be friendly and approachable.
Clint frowned. He didnât expect that Thomas would find out about it.
They had been very careful.
Amos remained quiet as he sat directly across from him.
âI guess you know why Iâm looking into you then,â Amos said coldly.
âOf course! One of my men ordered a thug to hit your woman. Donât worry! Iâve got the evidence. Iâll give it to you at any time if you want it,â Thomas replied.
âUnder what condition?â Amos asked.
Thomas chortled.
âI can see that youâre indeed very assertive. Letâs not talk about the conditions first,â Thomas continued. âWe have not collaborated for a long time after you came back from the States. I am not very happy about that. If it werenât for this girl, were you going to continue avoiding me? What happened? Everyone said youâre cold and ruthless. Is it true that youâve fallen in love with this woman?â
Thomas sounded as if he was an old friend of Amos. But Amos knew that he was trying to probe into his secret.
Amos frowned and replied with a smile, âYou should know better than me. A woman will always lose her charm after some time.â
âReally?â Thomasâ eyes widened. âNo one has ever seen you with a woman before. I thought that this woman must be very different. It looks like Iâm wrong. If thatâs the case, shall we have some fun tonight? You can have a go on my girl!â
He signaled the woman in his arms to go to Amos.
Clint reflexively lifted his hand but withdrew it when he met Amosâ gaze.
He frowned and left the room.
The woman sat onto Amosâs laps without a second thought. The fragrance of her perfume floated up his nostrils. He frowned slightly as Eudora had never used perfume before.
âWhatâs wrong? Donât you like it, President Granger?â asked Thomas.
Amos smiled, âOf course, I do!â He wrapped the woman tightly in his arms and said, âYour girls are amazing.â
âHaha! Iâm glad you like it,â Thomas chuckled.
Clint suddenly barged into the room again and said, âSir, you need to go back now. Somethingâs happened.â
Thomasâ face changed at once. âYouâre not going to leave now, are you? Weâve just started.â
âWhy should I?â Amos smiled and glanced at the woman. âIâm not going to waste President Shelbyâs goodwill.â
Thomas nodded with satisfaction and said, âGood! Letâs grab a drink when you are free next time. You can have her!â
Amos came out of the room with the woman and frowned immediately as soon as the door was closed.
Clint quickly asked and stretched out his hand, âPresident Granger.â
Amos shook his head while the woman grabbed his arm. The three went downstairs together and got in the car.
A man reported to Thomas a few minutes after Amos left, âHe has brought that woman away.â
Thomas raised his eyebrows. âIt seems like I am wrong. He is indeed Amos Granger, a cold-blooded beast!â
The driver sped away after they closed the door. The woman leaned against Amosâ shoulder gently. Her beauty made such a big contrast to Thomasâ fat and ugly face.
She was thinking of ways to seduce Amos as she knew that Amos was probably one of the richest guys in the country.
âPresident Granger, where are we going?â She whispered in his ear.
Amos smirked, âLetâs play something different.â
He pulled out a piece of cloth from the back seat of the car and handed it to the woman before he blindfolded her.
The woman responded excitedly, âSure. That looks fun.â
Amos didnât say a word. After he made sure that the woman was blindfolded properly, he ordered, âStop the car.â
He signaled Clint with his eyes to get the woman off the car.
When Amos was the only one left in the car, he said in a hoarse voice, âTo the hospital.â
â¦
Eudora couldnât fall asleep as she just had a huge portion of chicken soup in the evening. So, she decided to read a magazine to learn the latest trend of design.
The magazines were brought by Aunt Valerie after Eudora insisted her to do so. When she was about to flip the first page, the door was pushed open.
Shocked at the loud noise, she looked up and saw Amos stumble into the room.
Aunt Valerie quickly went forward and asked, âSir, whatâs wrong?â
Eudora saw the rashes on his body and yelled, âDonât touch him!â
Terrified, Aunt Valerie stopped at once.
Eudora got up from the bed and held him. âWhat happened again?â
Valerie reminded, âMiss George, you shouldnât get up from the bed. Your wound hasnât healed yetâ¦â
âWe have no time. Hurry up and get me some hot water,â Eudora interrupted.
Aunt Valerie acted instantly while Eudora laid Amos down on the sofa. His condition seemed to be worse than his two previous episodes. He was semi-conscious and could barely recognize anyone now.
Eudora slowly unbuttoned his clothes, but he kept pushing her away.
Anxious about his condition, she whispered softly into his ears, âAmos, Iâm Eudoraâ¦â
âEudora?â Amos slowly opened his eyes and took a closer look at her in relief, and finally passed out.
