Bethany went straight home after leaving the office in the companyâs car.
She entered the porch and closed the gates behind her.
The butler was a little confused upon her abrupt return.
âMadam Hamilton, why have you come home so early today?â
Bethany remained quiet. She headed upstairs, took a bath, and changed into a fresh set of clothes.
The clothes were bought on the day after she and Old Master Granger were officially in a relationship. She still remembered that he had only accompanied her to go shopping because he couldnât stand the pressure from his father.
Surprisingly, she could still wear it after so many years.
Bethany then made her way downstairs and went straight to the chapel in the courtyard.
In the chapel was Hankâs tablet. She would stay there almost every day after Hankâs passing.
However, she had been busy dealing with Amos recently. It had been a long time since she had last came to pay him a visit.
There was already a layer of dust on his tablet. Bethany took a cloth and slowly wiped it clean.
She placed the flowers that she had brought in front of the tablet. After that, she stood up.
âHank, Iâve failed you. In the end, Iâm still no match for Amos. Will you blame me for my incompetence?â
She was met with silence, a wry smile tugging on her lips. She then turned to look at the new tablet beside Hankâs. It belonged to Old Master Granger.
After the death of Old Master Granger, she had placed his tablet next to Hankâs.
âYouâve failed me, do you know that? If it werenât for you, I would not have become who I am today. Why did you do this to me? You didnât give me any hope before you passed on. Was she really that good?â
She was once again met with cold silence.
Bethany gritted her teeth. Kaylene, Amos, and the police officers had already caught up with her outside the chapel.
Bethany was so angry that she started shouting as soon as she reached the chapel. âKaylene, you evil woman. You killed my husband and lied to my son. You better come out here!â
Bethany sneered and opened the door to the chapel.
âWerenât you looking for me? Come on in!â
Kaylene was like a paper tiger, who seemed strong from the outside. However, she would immediately become timid and afraid once she had to face the real deal, especially since Bethany still seemed so calm, completely ignoring the police officers around them. Kaylene was terrified of her calmness, and she was afraid that Bethany would hurt her if she were to enter the chapel.
Bethany began to laugh.
âAre you that afraid to come in here? You wouldnât even dare to look at my sonâs tablet, would you? Thatâs because all of you are the reason for my sonâs death!â
Everyone was stunned by Bethanyâs words.
Even Amos was a little surprised. Hankâs death only happened after he had returned to the country. Therefore, Amos had always thought that his death was just an accident.
However, it seemed that that was not the case.
Kayleneâs face fell as she denied, âYou are spouting nonsense.â
âYou know better than anyone else that Iâm not. Did you really think that I am that clueless? When Amos returned, you sent so many people to assassinate him. But later, you realized that Amos was not easy to deal with, so you stopped. Hank was so pitiful. He had always been kind-hearted, but you made him your scapegoat. If we were to put it this way, I did nothing wrong when I lied to your son.â
Kaylene gritted her teeth. âYour husband and my son are both dead. You donât even have the evidence to prove what youâve just said. I wonât believe your nonsense!â
Bethany snorted, âThatâs right! Theyâre all dead. You and I are the only people in this world who know about this. But donât forget, thereâs also that woman in the dungeon. She knows all about your scheme! Kaylene, if you really were to lie in bed for the rest of your life, perhaps this matter would have been forgotten. However, you ended up waking up at this moment. Did you think that you can get away from all of this?â
Kayleneâs face paled, and then she sneered.
âYes, so what if itâs true? My son and my husband are both dead! Itâs meaningless for me to be alive! Officers, did you all hear what she just said? She admitted to all her mistakes just now. In order to take revenge, she lied to my son and killed my husband. Did you all hear that?â
The officers frowned and looked at Bethany.
âMadam, we hope that you could come back with us to assist in the investigation.â
Bethany was still calm. She just stared at the police officers quietly.
âSure, itâs just to assist in the investigation, isnât it? Iâm willing to go back with you, but please allow me to say goodbye to my son.â
The police officers nodded.
After bidding goodbye to Hank, Bethany then turned to look at Amos and said, âCome over here. I have something to say to you.â
Amos frowned. In fact, he had something to tell Bethany too, so he walked over to her.
However, Bethany grabbed hold of his throat as soon as he entered the door. âSince I have failed to protect what was rightfully my sonâs, I shall let you be buried next to him then!â
The police officers in the courtyard picked up their guns hurriedly. âMadam, donât do anything rash.â
Kaylene was dumbfounded. It was the first time that she saw Bethany acting like this. She was relieved that she wasnât the one who entered the door just now.
On the contrary, Amos, who was inside, was still calm. He waved to everyone. âIâm fine!â
He stood in front of Bethany indifferently. âSince you have nothing else to say to me, then I have something to tell you. Initially, my father had asked me to tell you this only after Valiant East has stabilized. However, I truly apologize that it has been delayed for a long time due to my personal reasons. It seems that now is the best opportunity to tell you.â
Bethany furrowed her brows. âStop your nonsense. Youâre just afraid that Iâll attack you.â
The corner of Amosâ lips twitched. â I wouldnât have come over if I was worried that you would hurt me. Besides, even though Iâm not in the best of my health, Iâm still capable of fighting back against you.â
He did not retaliate only because he wasnât afraid.
Bethany seemed convinced by his words. âSpeak then!â
Amos waved his hand at Clint, who then threw a document at him. He had prepared it earlier that morning.
Amos picked it up and opened the document slowly.
âI have initially planned to hand these things over to you personally once the matter today concludes. I guess it would be alright to hand it to you now.â
Bethany grabbed the document and took a good look at it. She was instantly stunned.
It was a share transfer agreement accompanied by Old Master Grangerâs signature. One of them was for her and the other was for Vincent.
âMy father was worried that you wouldnât be able to juggle things well, so he ordered me to transfer these shares to you once Valiant East is stabilized. This way, both Vincent and you will have something to rely on for the rest of your life.â
Bethanyâs heart was in turmoil. She had always thought that Old Master Granger had forsaken her, but she hadnât expected him to still keep her in mind.
Howeverâ¦
Looking at the 5% and 15% of the shares stated in the agreement, Bethany sneered again.
âDid you think that you could get rid of me with something like this? I donât need all these!â
