Old Master Granger was already notified about their arrival. It seemed that they had no choice but to go into the mansion.
Eudora George frowned and said, âIâm sorry, Iâve caused you trouble again.â
Amos Granger shook his head. âItâs not your fault,â he said.
After entering the mansion, they realised that the whole yard was in a celebratory atmosphere. It was still early for dinner. Therefore, everyone gathered in the living room and chatted.
Steven Granger was a little proud of himself. He kept on telling Kaylene Yoder and the others about those tough questions he had during the interview session.
Harry Granger heard what Steven said when he entered the mansion. He couldnât help but tease him, âWell, I didnât even have those difficult questions last time.â
Eudora couldnât help but let out a muffled laugh. âIt must be you who did it, right?â
How could she still be in the mood to laugh at this time, Amos thought.
Then, he sighed and said, âIf they make things difficult for you laterâ¦â
âIâm not afraid!â Eudora straightened her back and said, âIâve seen worse in the Meyer family. Donât worry!â
Everyone stopped talking when they saw Amos and Eudora walking into the mansion. Samantha was unhappy when she saw Eudora holding on to Amosâ arm. Amos would normally keep at least half a meter away from others. But Eudora was able to get so close to Amos!
Steven greeted Amos and went upstairs.
Amos thought for a moment and said, âLetâs greet Dad together!â
In the backyard, Old Master Granger was feeding the fish beside the pond. A servant was holding a tray of fish food and following him closely from behind.
Old Master Granger said the moment they approached him, âAmos, please wait for me in the study room.â
Amos took a glance at Eudora. He didnât move at all.
Old Master Granger noticed Amosâ averted gaze. He said, âAre you afraid that I will do anything bad to her?â
Amos acknowledged. He squeezed Eudoraâs hand, then turned around and left.
Eudora stood at the same spot for a while. She mustered her courage and walked over. She stood behind Old Master Granger and asked, âSir, what can I do for you?â
âSir?â Old Master Granger thought.
He stopped feeding the fish and said, âWell, itâs good that you know what to do. But, like I had said before, you do not bring any advantage to Amos.â
âWhy do you think so?â Eudora asked.
She felt that Amos was much happier than before.
âI donât need to tell you what kind of person Amos used to be. I believe you should know. I wonât mention the incident in which Amos protected you from being beaten last time. I guess you have already known about the news this morning. As you can see, Amos doesnât even care about the reputation of this family because of you.â
Old Master Granger couldnât help being agitated when he recalled reading the news from the paper.
Eudoraâs heart skipped a beat. She said, âAre you trying to say that Amos was behind the news this morningâ¦â
She didnât finish her words because she could already guess the answer. It was no wonder that Amos seemed to know that Samantha would come to the restaurant today.
It turned out that these were all part of his plan.
âHow much?â Old Master Granger asked again, interrupting her thoughts.
âWhat?â Eudora couldnât react in time.
âHow much do you need so that youâll leave Amos?â Old Master Granger asked.
Eudora frowned. She blurted out, âI donât want any money!â
âOh, you donât want any money? Isnât it a deal between you and Amos? Well, thereâs always money involved in a deal. Tell me, how much is it? Iâll pay you now. After that, please leave immediately!â
Eudoraâs face was pale. âYes, itâs a deal. But, thereâs no money involved in this deal. I wonât leave Amos unless he asks me to do so!â
âHaha!â Old Master Granger sneered. âIâve guessed that youâre not a simple person. Are you aiming for our property if you donât want any money? Are you trying to be the Young Madam of the Granger family? With your family background and your history, do you think itâs possible?â he continued.
He spoke directly and calmly. However, it was an insult no matter which tone he used.
Eudora clenched her fists and said, âOld Master Granger, I respect you because youâre Amosâ father. Nothing more. You might look down on my family background and what happened to me in the past. But, I treasure these a lot and you have no right to judge! As for you, well, to be honest, youâre not a good father since you have always interfered with your sonâs love life!â
Old Master Granger was consumed by anger. He shouted, âHow dare you!â¦â
All of a sudden, someone screamed in the front yard before he could speak further. A servant ran over quickly and shouted, âOh no! Something happened to the First Young Master!â
Old Master Granger was shocked. He asked, âWhat happened?â
âFirst Young Master suddenly passed outâ¦â the servant said.
Eudora ran out immediately before the servant could finish her words. Old Master Granger looked at Eudoraâs fleeing figure and frowned. Then, he said, âPlease call the doctor.â
Amos was resting in his bedroom when Eudora arrived.
Samantha was standing at the door absent-mindedly. She didnât look good. However, no one paid attention to her now. Everyone was worried about Amos.
Eudora was stopped by Harry when she rushed towards the bedroom.
âHey! How could you simply run around in the Granger Mansion?â Harry said.
Eudora frowned and wanted to say something. However, she noticed that the housekeeper and the Old Master Granger had entered the room with the doctor. Eudora knew that he still had Amosâ best interests at heart, and definitely would not harm him. Thinking about this, Eudora was slightly relieved.
Kaylene couldnât help but mutter in a low voice when everyone was waiting outside, âItâs not good for Amos to live outside alone. No one knows if some people take the opportunity to do something to him!â
She was insulting Eudora indirectly. Upon hearing this, Harry supported Kaylene, âBrother, what Kaylene said is right.â
Old Master Granger was not pleased. He said, âPlease ask Miss George to leave.â
The servants surrounded Eudora as soon as Old Master Granger gave the order. How could Eudora leave at this moment? Amosâ safety was the top priority for now.
All of a sudden, the doctor pushed the door open and came out while they were arguing.
Old Master Granger got up anxiously and asked, âHow is he?â
Dr. Leon shook his head and said with a serious look on his face, âOld Master Granger, First Young Masterâs condition is really peculiar. Iâve never seen it before!â
âWhat?â Old Master Granger took a step back. âHow could it be possible? Weâve never encountered this kind of disease before too.â
Eudora took a glance at Amos and saw the rashes on his face.
Her heart skipped a beat. Suddenly, she said to the doctor, âCan I have a try?â
The doctor was stunned. âIs this young lady also a doctor?â he asked.
Eudora shook her head and replied, âIâm not a doctor, but Iâve seen such a disease before. Please let me try.â
âNo way!â Harry stopped her. âYouâve no medical knowledge at all. Why are you making trouble here?â He didnât believe that Eudora could cure a disease. No matter what, he had to stop her.
Eudora ignored him and looked at the doctor. She pleaded, âPlease let me have a try!â
