Stevenâs mind was buzzing and he was at a loss. Amos, on the other hand, looked as calm as ever, his thoughts crystal clear.
He had initially thought that it was Steven who had posted that video on the internet. However, after having a serious conversation with him, he was certain that Steven wasnât the type of person who would make such a wise move.
He glanced at his surroundings.
âAre you still going to hide? I know who you are. Youâre the one behind all this.â
However, the enemy remained calm and there was not a single movement.
Amos furrowed his eyebrows. At this moment, Steven, who was tied up beside him, suddenly broke free.
Once he regained his freedom, he leaped to his feet and lunged towards Amos.
Amos felt his heart skip a beat. He moved towards the side swiftly. Fortunately, he managed to dodge the blow.
âSteven, have you lost your mind?â
Steven gritted his teeth, âDonât you dare try to fool me! You and Bethany are up to no good. I have nothing to lose even if I kill both of you!â
He then lunged towards Amos once more.
Amos squinted his brows as he gave Steven a deadly kick, instantly knocking him down to the ground.
âThatâs enough! Steven, my patience has its limits!â
If it werenât for him desperately wanting to find out who the mastermind was, he wouldnât even spare the time to deal with Steven here.
When he left Rosaville City years ago, Steven took up boxing at Harryâs request. Before this, he thought that he had mastered his skills, but he was dumbfounded when he couldnât take even three of Amosâ blows.
Steven gritted his teeth and clenched his fists tightly with hatred building up inside of him.
Amos ignored him once again. Although his kick didnât land on any vital body parts, he knew from his past experiences that Steven wouldnât be able to get up for a while.
Hence, he had nothing to worry about!
The most important thing now was to figure out who was toying with him behind his back.
At last, Amosâ gaze landed on a bush that wasnât far away from him. âShow yourself!â
The bush moved slightly as he saw someone standing to their feet.
âMy, my. Amos Granger. You truly are smart!â
It was none other than Kesha, who had been missing for the past few days. She was wearing a long skirt and had some white gauze covering her face.
However, he could still recognize Kesha at first sight.
Steven, who was lying on the ground, looked completely taken back. âKesha, how dare you lie to me?â
It turned out that it was Kesha who had deliberately spread the news that she had gone to the airport!
Kesha couldnât even be bothered to look at Steven. âDo you really think that itâs worth my time to trick an idiot like you?â
The corner of Stevenâs mouth twitched. âYouâ¦â
However, Kesha no longer paid any attention to him. Instead, she fixed her eyes on Amos and spoke sternly, âMr. Granger, it seems that you had learned the truth.â
Amos frowned and said, âSo you were the one who ganged up with Steven and Felix to kidnap Eudora! You thought I killed Harry, so you wanted to take revenge.â
Kesha nodded. âThatâs right!â
Behind him, Steven was aghast at what he had just heard. He looked at Amos and shouted. âKesha, shut up!â
Kesha glanced at him with disdain. âShut up, you fool!â
Amos said again, âSteven has received help several times in the past. It was you all along, wasnât it?â
Kesha snorted and exclaimed, âYes, itâs me!â
âSo you must have been the one who altered Eudoraâs pregnancy record intentionally! You even poisoned her!â
Amos was already raising his voice, but no matter what he said, Kesha still seemed unfazed. In fact, she felt prouder the more Amos spoke of her evil deeds.
âItâs all me! So what? Did you suddenly realize that I should be the one standing by your side after all? Whatâs so good about that b*tch Eudora anyway?â
Amos furrowed his eyebrows and growled, âYou will never, ever be better than her.â
His words seemed to have provoked Kesha. She felt a furious rage burning inside of her. Her face darkened and she shouted, âSo what? Do you think that I still like you? How pathetic. I hate you, I hate you so much!â
Amosâ lips twitched. âGood! I donât want to be liked by someone like you either. Someone who wouldnât even blink an eye when she pushed her mother down the stairsâ¦â
Keshaâs face finally turned pale for a moment.
Steven was lost for words as he stood behind Amos. He was too naive and stupid. He had always thought that Kesha was a good woman, someone who would help him through thick and thin.
He was indeed furious, but he had never once thought about leaving her, even after finding out that she had tried to seduce Amos!
Who wouldâve known that she was a backstabber after all?
Kesha glanced at Steven and Amos back and forth. Her stare was filled with so much hatred that she could send chills running down spines.
âSo what if youâre right about everything? You said that I am evil, but what makes you think that youâre a good person?â She pointed her fingers at Amos as she said this.
âYou and Eudora arenât even married. Whoâs going to stop me even if I were to seduce you? But you tried to frame me and intentionally make me look bad just for your sweet Eudora. All of this at what cost?â
âAnd you!â She pointed at Steven.
âYou said that you liked me and that I was your savior. But have you ever been kind to me? You only think of me when you need my help. Were you ever there for me when I needed you the most? I just wanted you to investigate something for me but you were unwilling to help. What kind of man are you? When I said that I donât love you anymore, you splashed hot water on me. You psychopath, now my life is ruined!â
At this moment, a gust of wind blew over, lifting the bandage off her face.
Under it was her scalded face. One wouldâve instantly known that they were burnt scars. There were patches of them and it looked horrible on her.
Stevenâs jaw dropped and his eyes were wide open.
He didnât expect that Kesha would look like this. At that moment, he indeed was a mad dog. His heart was burning with so much jealousy that all he wanted to do was to burn her with boiling water.
âKeshaâ¦â
âShut up!â Kesha said and gave a sinister cackle.
âToday is the day youâll pay for what youâve done!â She slid out a knife from the sleeve of her long skirt when Amos wasnât paying attentionâ¦
â¦
When Eudora woke up in the morning, Cindy told her that Amos had left the house to run some errands.
Amos had been keeping her company recently, so it was understandable that he had something important to attend to. Therefore, Eudora just nodded and went downstairs to have breakfast.
After having breakfast, she reached out for the newspaper on the table as usual.
Since being with Amos, she had developed the habit of reading the newspaper while eating. Especially now that she was pregnant, she had nothing better to do since she had every minute to spend!
Eudora initially wanted to read the latest newspaper. However, there wasnât a single sheet of the latest newspaper on the table.
âWas the newspaper today not delivered over?â Eudora asked.
Cindy was stunned. She recalled Amosâ orders and shook her head. âYes, itâs here. But I used it to clean the windows this morning! Iâm sorry, Mrs. Grangerâ¦â
Eudora was never a petty person. She would reprimand someone over a matter as trivial as that.
âItâs fine! Wiping the windows with newspapers is indeed a brilliant idea. Perhaps Iâll watch some TV. Do you mind playing that recent sci-fi drama for meâ¦â
Cindy shook her head again and said, âMrs. Granger, the Internet at home is currently being repaired. Iâll play the DVD for you instead!â
Eudora immediately sensed that something wasnât right. All these were too much of a coincidence.
