Eudoraâs words pierced Amosâ heart painfully.
How could he not want a child with her? He had been dreaming of another child with Eudora for a long while now. He had missed his opportunity with Juju and always regretted it.
Seeing that he remained silent, Eudoraâs face gradually darkened. After a long while, she mustered up a smile and said, âAlright, I understand now!â
After that, she closed the door immediately, and soon, he heard her from inside, âCome on, Doctor. Letâs begin!â
Amos stood motionless outside, deeply frustrated. He saw the sparkle in her eyes just moments ago, and he also saw the sparkle disappear before him.
His heart could not bear the disappointed look that she cast on him.
It felt as though he had been punched in the chest. When Amos pushed open the door, he saw that Eudoraâs eyes were tinted red.
She stood in front of the prepared equipment, sparing him a blank look.
Amosâ heart thundered. He rushed over and pulled Eudora into his arms, lowering his head and slowly kissing Eudoraâs tears away.
As the scene unfolded before him, the doctor quickly left the room to give them some privacy.
Amos didnât say anything to her until the door was closed.
âSorry. This is all my fault.â
Eudora struggled to compose her emotions, but when she heard Amosâ apology, she started to bawl.
âYouâre right! Didnât you tell me that we were a family? Why donât you want me and my baby then? If you never wanted to be with me in the first place, you should have just left me alone when I woke up the last time! I wouldnât have troubled you if you hadâ¦â
Amos felt awful, âYes, itâs all my fault.â
âYou are a bast*rd, a big one! Iâll never trust you again!â Eudora continued.
Whatever she yelled, Amos merely nodded his head and took it. Once Eudora had vented all of her grievances, the loud crying in the room gradually quieted down.
â¦
Outside the door, Doctor Leon sighed. Judging from the situation, it was unlikely that they would terminate the pregnancy.
If that were the case, President Grangerâs life would be tough in the future. No matter how much he loved Miss George, the child would be a thorn by his side forever.
If Miss George knew the truth, the consequence would be unthinkable.
Doctor Leon knew that Amos must have already thought of that butâ¦
In front of Miss George, all his senses and rationality seemed to just disappear.
Doctor Leon sighed again and waved the other doctor over, âForget about it. I donât think that they would go on with the procedure. You may leave first.â
The other doctor was already nervous from the start. Now that she had been told that she was dismissed, she left as quickly as she could.
Amos and Eudora stayed inside for a long time. When Eudoraâs mood was finally lightened, Amos guided her to stand.
âLetâs go.â
âGo where?â Eudora sniffled.
âThe Civil Affairs Bureau, of course. Didnât we agree to get married?â
Even though Eudora had been the one to suggest it, she was taken aback.
âIsnât that too sudden?â
âNot at all,â Amos said, shaking his head.
Outside the door, Doctor Leon heard them coming out and hurried over, âDoctor Leon, sorry for troubling you. You may head back for now.â
The doctor looked at the couple holding hands and asked, curious.
âWhere are you two going?â
âThe Civil Affairs Bureau,â Amos said firmly.
Doctor Leonâs chin almost fell out of his mouth in surprise. Did he hear him correctly?
As soon as Juju entered the room, she heard him and ran over in a hurry.
âMommy and Daddy are going to the Civil Affairs Bureau? Whatâs that?â
Auntie Valerie was delighted to hear that they were going to get married and gushed, âCongratulations! Youâre finally going to get married!â
Juju immediately ran over and hugged Amosâs thigh, âDaddy, I want to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau with you!â
âAlright, letâs go!â Amos said as he picked her up.
After they prepared the necessary documents, the three of them immediately headed there.
On the way, Eudora became a little nervous, âHow did we end up getting married so suddenly? Amos, are you nervous?â
Amos shook his head, âNot at all.â
Next to him, Juju immediately complained, âDaddy, youâre holding my hand too hard. It hurts!â
Eudora burst into laughter, âWell, well, well. It turns out that President Granger does get nervous! Who wouldâve thought!â
Amos looked at her helplessly, âIâm a human too. Why wouldnât I get nervous?â
Especially since it was Eudora whom he was getting married to. It felt like he had been waiting for this for a lifetime.
When they arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau, Clint was already waiting outside the door with Harley.
âI happened to bump into Mr. Louis while I was on the way. When he heard that you were getting married, he decided to come along as well.â
Although Harley tried his hardest to look spirited, his eyes betrayed him. It looks like his relationship with Thea was still rocky.
He walked over to Amos and patted him on the shoulder, âCongratulations!â
Amos also patted him back gratefully.
Juju, on the other hand, had realized that Harley looked upset. For the first time ever, she took the initiative to walk over to him and tiptoed to kiss him on the cheek.
âUncle Louis, cheer up! I hope that youâll feel better soon.â
Harley was feeling rather indifferent at first. However, after hearing Jujuâs words, he suddenly felt something hot welling in his eyes.
âGood girl! I knew that I didnât dote on you for nothing!â
Clint already had everything prepared. All Amos and Eudora had to do was enter the centre.
Five minutes later, they came out with their marriage certificate, taking an official family portrait at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
From this point onwards, they were officially a real family.
They would love one another no matter what towards the very end.
After they came out, Harley spoke up and asked.
âSo⦠when will the banquet be held?â
Eudora got an instant headache as soon as she heard this, âI think that weâll just give it a miss. The marriage is between me and Amos. Thereâs no need to prepare a feastâ¦â
Moreover, Amos and the Granger family were currently in a very awkward predicament. Eudora thought that it was unnecessary anyway.
As for Amos, he was considering Eudoraâs physical condition. It was best not to let her worry about such things.
âThat wonât be necessary. Weâll talk about it later.â
Harley frowned and started to complain, âWhy are both of you so boring? I was looking forward to your wedding so that I could bring a bridesmaid home!â
