Amos Granger was stunned. After a moment, he turned to look at the little woman with eager eyes.
âI will support you. You donât need to work,â Amos said.
Eudora George knew that he would say that. Being a person he is, he wouldnât allow her to go out and work. However, Eudora knew this was something she had to do.
Eudora softened her voice. âItâs not the same! Iâve wasted three years in the Meyer family doing nothing! I am so detached from everything. I want to know more about the outside world, even if⦠itâs for you.â
Amos narrowed his eyes. âFor me?â
âItâs all for you. If I can go out to work, maybe we can have more to talk about. You can finally share your troubles with me,â Eudora said.
Amosâ lips curled into an amused smile. âLittle fox, when did you become such a sweet-talker?â
Although he knew that it was just an excuse to go out, he was pleased.
âIâm sincere!â Eudora insisted.
Amos put out the cigarette in his hand and rolled over, pressing her down.
âLetâs see how sincere you are,â Amos teased.
Eudora pursed her lips at the face bearing down on her. She raised her head and kissed his cheek.
Amos couldnât help but laugh at her clumsy gesture.
âThatâs it?â
With one hand free, he pointed to his lips and said, âDo it like how I usually do.â
Eudora frowned. She looked as if she was trying to recall what he meant, while hesitating to do it or not. The next second, her cheeks turned red, her eyes closed, and she moved to meet Amosâ lips.
She had little practice at this. She smooched his lips twice and her face was already crimson, even her skin had a faint pink color.
But she didnât know that it was her innocent look that aroused him.
Her lips lingered for awhile before she retreated. âIs thisâ¦â His eyes darkened, and he lowered his head to kiss her before she could finish the sentence.
His every move was detailed, almost like he was guiding and teaching her. After he finished, he stopped for two seconds, giving Eudora a chance to breathe.
He waited till he had his fill and then looked at her with a smile. âDid you learn it?â
It took a moment for Eudora to respond. âWhat?â She was still in a daze.
âIt seems that you still havenât learned itâ¦â His voice was low and hoarse.
âNo, no, no! I learned it!â Eudora pleaded.
âHave you really learned it? Then give it a try.â Amos ordered.
âAh?â Eudora rubbed her sore waist, her naked back completely exposed to Amos. âCan I do it tomorrow?â
âAre you really that tired?â Amos covered her with the quilt and got out of bed. âAlright then.â
Knowing that Amos was about to leave, Eudora asked hurriedly, âThen Iâ¦â
âThe company is about to recruit full-time staff. You can hand in your resume if you want. I will ask Clint to settle it,â Amos said curtly.
âReally?â Eudora was overjoyed. She jumped out of bed and hugged Amosâ thin waist from behind. âThank you!â
Her bare chest pressed against his back. Amosâ eyes darkened. âYou asked for it this time.â
Eudora was taken aback. She turned around and tried to run, but was pulled back by Amos.
Sunlight shone through the window as the sun set. Eudora rubbed her waist and got out of bed again.
Although Amos did not let her off easy, she was happy just to work.
The next day, Eudora handed in her resume. Not only that, she also handed in the resume for the Gellert familyâs Everpeace Group. After Everpeace was acquired by the Gellert family, it resumed its operation but no longer belonged to the George family.
If only she could go to Everpeace Group to look after her late-motherâs treasured company.
â¦
In the Valiant East Group.
In the spacious presidentâs office, Harley Louis stood at the table as if he was scrutinizing some peculiar artifact. He stared at Amos Grangerâs face for a long time.
Amos frowned and threw the document in his hand to him.
âAre you done looking at me?â Amos asked.
âHey, Clint told me that you didnât come into office yesterday but I didnât believe it. Now that Iâve seen you, I believe it!â Harley said.
Amos remained calm and collected. âWhy?â
âBecause youâre in such a good mood today, so full of energy. I assume you had a great time yesterday?â Harley said suggestively.
âShut up!â Amos wasnât in the mood to deal with him. âWhat do you want from me?â
âOh, nothing much. Remember when you got beaten up? Turns out it was the old manâs little brotherâs work.â
Old Master Granger had a younger brother, Amosâ Second Uncle. He had always coveted Amosâ power. Amos was not surprised at all, he had already guessed it long time ago.
âWhat are you going to do?â Harley asked.
âWhat else can we do? The old fox will definitely not leave any trace behind. However, as time goes by, he would definitely let the cat out of the bag.â Amos said.
As he spoke, Clint Zuckerberg pushed the door open and walked in.
âMr. Granger, Old Master Granger asked you to go back for dinner tonight!â
Harley raised his eyebrows. âDinner? It seems that your uncle has come up with another trick! Whatâs his purpose?â
Clint agreed. âAnd I heard that Miss Cooper is back.â
Harley was thrilled. âSamantha Cooper? Your second uncleâs adopted daughter who likes you? She has no regard for rank! He actually asked you to go back the moment sheâs back. I guess there will be a good show tonight.â
Amos frowned. âDonât you have anything else to do?â
Harley rolled his eyes. âYou are angry when I care about you. How ungrateful.â he teased.
Clint was speechless and thought. âHave you considered my feelings?â
After Harley left. Clint thought about it and decided it was dangerous to let his boss go back by himself. âWhy donât I accompany you tonight?â
âOkay!â He thought about it for a while and called Eudora.
â¦
Eudora George was still wondering what to cook when her thoughts were interrupted by a phone call. She just cooked some noodles and went upstairs to read a book.
She was going to start work soon. If they were going to interview her, it would be best to be prepared.
By the time she finished her book, it was already dark outside.
Eudora heard the sound of the car engine revving into the house and made her way downstairs.
Amos leaned on Clint as he carried him in, with a nervous look on his face. âMiss Georgeâ¦â
Eudora hurried over and saw that Amosâ face was flushed and his neck and face were covered with red rashes. âWhatâs wrong?â
Eudora helped him lay Amos on the sofa. Only then did he explain, âThe medication has run out. Iâll go to Mr. Louis immediately. Please take care of President Granger first.â
He took two steps then turned back and said, âIf President Granger starts smashing things, you should get as far away as possible and be careful not to get hurt.â
Eudora did not understand what he meant at all. Why would Amos smash anything?
