Two days later.
Eudora George was supposed to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to apply for the divorce certificate with Felix Meyer. When she got up this morning, Eudora made a point to dress herself well.
Today was the first day of her new life after all. She ought to be in her best condition!
While they were eating, Anya Astor came in.
âPresident Granger has a meeting in the morning. I will be accompanying you to the Civil Affairs Bureau instead,â Anya said.
Eudora was a little embarrassed. âBut, isnât this too much trouble?â
âOf course not, your safety is my priority.â Anya said.
Eudora didnât argue any more and got up to leave with Anya.
By the time they arrived at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Felix had already arrived. After two days of recovery, his injuries had healed a lot, but he was still full of rage.
However, when he saw Anya, he fought to restrain himself.
He might be like this for the rest of his life.
Eudora ignored him and went straight in.
In just a few minutes, everything was done. With the divorce settled, Eudora was at ease.
Eudora left the Civil Affairs Bureau without looking back.
Behind her, Felix suddenly shouted, âEudora, youâd better wait and see. As long as Iâm alive, we will never be over.â
Eudora frowned. Felix drove off before she could say anything.
Before Eudora could understand what was going on, she saw Anya smiling at her mischievously.
âWhatâs wrong?â Eudora asked.
âLook whoâs here!â Eudora turned around and saw Amos Granger at the gate of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Eudora hurried over. âWhy⦠Why are you here?â
âIâm here to pick you up!â It was a simple statement, but it calmed her down.
When Anya saw this, she couldnât help but smile. âPresident Granger, I will take my leave first then.â
âOkay!â He took Eudoraâs hand as if there was no one else around. âLetâs go.â
Eudora was shocked. They had already attracted a lot of attention as they were a good-looking couple. She hurriedly struggled and said, âSomeone may see us.â
âSo what?â Amos was so excited he practically dragged her into the car.
âWhere do you want to go?â Amos asked.
Eudora was startled for a moment. Then she thought of a place. âI want to visit my mother. Can I?â
Hearing this, Amos nodded and said, âThen letâs go to buy some flowers first!â
â¦..
At the outskirts of Rosaville City, Eudora George carefully placed the flowers she brought on her motherâs grave.
She then knelt before it. âMom, I have finally left the Meyer family. Although I have not regained my freedom fully, but I will definitely improve myself and be the daughter youâre proud of! Mom, donât worry!â
The wind whistled and drowned Eudoraâs voice.
Noticing that she was done talking, Amos approached Eudora from the back and bowed respectfully to the tomb.
Eudora was astounded.
She never thought Amos would do such a thing.
When she was still in a daze, Amos took her hand and asked, âWhere else do you want to go?â
âIâm done for the day.â Eudora shook her head. Her heart was full of warmth. âIn order to thank you for helping me so much, I will go back and cook a hearty meal for you!.â
It was rare for Amos to see Eudora so happy. He smiled and said, âWe can cook any time any day we want. Letâs go out and eat today!â
Amos took her to the best place he could find â the revolving restaurant on the top floor of Rosaville City Hotel, the iconic building of Rosaville City. She could enjoy the night view of the city in 360 degrees.
Although Eudora was born into a wealthy family, after her mother passed away, her father no longer cared about her.
When she was still with the Meyer family, she either accompanied Felix to entertain his business partners or spent the whole day dealing with housework. It was Eudoraâs first time here. For the first time, she finally felt she had some control over her life.
She was in a good mood and drank a lot of wine.
When she came out of the bathroom, she accidentally bumped into a person.
She hurriedly apologized, âOh Iâm sorry.â
She heard the manâs deep laughter. âItâs my honor to bump into such a beautiful lady.â
Eudora was stunned. Only then did she get a clear look at the man in front of her. His words were quite impetuous but when she saw the smile on his face, she relaxed.
After a sigh of relief, Eudora said.
âThank you.â
âYouâre welcome!â the man laughed. âWhatâs your name, Miss?â
Because of her good looks, she had always attracted strangersâ attention. They tend to ask her for her name, but Eudora didnât like to tell her name to just anyone, so she casually laughed and said, âWe met each other by chance. Itâs good that youâre all right, sir.â
After that, she left.
On the way back home, Eudora was already a little tipsy.
When Amos helped her in, she tiptoed and kissed him on the face. âThank you, Mr. Granger.â
After she said that, she realized that she was wrong and quickly corrected herself.
âNo, I mean Amos.â
âYouâre so well-behavedâ¦â Amos lowered his head and pecked her on the lips. It was a gentle kiss and his breath tickled her.
Eudora lowered her head and rested against Amosâ chest. Her hair was fluffy and her eyes narrowed like a lazy kitty.
Amosâ eyes darkened. He lifted her face and kissed her again.
This time, it was no longer just a kiss. He pressed against her lips and carefully traced them. He was extremely patient. Eudora moaned at his soft kisses. He took the opportunity to slide his tongue into her parted lips, entangling her tongue in his.
Eudora could feel heat rising up to her cheeks. Perhaps the alcohol was taking effect. Amosâ cooling body was inviting as she moved closer to him.
The little womanâs soft hand and warm body made Amosâ body stiffen. The next second, he picked her up, stroked her lips, and walked upstairs.
Another passionate night turned the summer night into a dream.
The next day, when Eudora woke up, Amos was still in bed. She was leaning on Amosâ arm and hanging on to him like a koala.
Eudora remembered last night vaguely. She blushed and felt very upset that she got drunk. How could she lose control after only drinking a little wine? It seemed that she ought to drink less in the future!
At that moment Amos opened his eyes.
Eudora hurriedly closed her eyes and pretended to sleep. She heard his deep laughter. âHow long do you plan to stay in bed?â
Only then did Eudora open her eyes. âMorning.â
Amos looked out the window. âItâs almost noon.â
Feeling embarrassed, Eudora pulled the quilt to cover her face. Amosâ phone rang. He sat up and answered.
Eudora thought he was going to leave. Unexpectedly, after answering the phone, he leaned back on the bed again and lit a cigarette.
He seemed to be in a good mood. Eudora thought about it and asked, âAmos, can I go out to work?â
