Eudora George tried to move her foot but she realized that she couldnât.
âDonât move. The doctor has placed your leg in a cast. Your big toe is broken.â
âAh?â Eudora pouted at Amos, âDoes this mean that I canât walk for now?â
Amos Granger was not in the mood to tease her. At this moment, he was incredibly upset. In fact, he blamed himself for all her injuries.
âItâs all my fault. I should have noticed that you didnât look like your usual self over the past couple of days. The Old Master must have caused you troubles. Fortunately, there were other people around today, otherwise, goodness knows what might have happened to you.â
The thought of losing her made him feel like he was going to collapse.
Eudora frowned and shook her head hurriedly, âAmos, itâs not what you think. I wanted to save him!â
She then asked hurriedly, âWhereâs the Old Master? Is he alright?â
Amos said grumpily, âHeâs fine.â
âAmosâ¦â Eudora softened her voice, âDonât be angryâ¦â
Amos didnât say a word. Clint Zuckerberg, who was standing behind him, left sensibly and closed the door.
Then, Eudora said again, âYou are so fierce! Iâm a little afraid of you!â
Sure enough, Amos finally relaxed a little and looked helplessly at Eudora.
âYou are not allowed to be afraid of me.â
âWhy donât you smile for me then? Once you smile, I wonât be afraid of you anymore!â
Amos pursed his lips together but he couldnât force a smile. Eudora immediately turned around and said, âFine then. I wonât talk to you.â
Since he had accused her of being a petty person, she was going to be petty now. Amos sighed helplessly and extended his hand to her, âHere, hold my handâ¦â
Only then did Eudora turn around and hold his hand. After that, her face suddenly became a little gloomy, âDid you check out the place?â
Amos was stunned, âWhat do you mean?â
âTo check the place where I got injured. I thought that it was a little strange. The terrain on the other side of the forest was very flat. I only allowed the Old Master to wander around the maple leaves because of that. However, I donât know why he had suddenly slipped.â
Amosâ expression was solemn, âAre you saying that someone might have done it?â
Eudora nodded, âAm I overthinking it? I think itâs better to check it out.â
âClint!â Amos immediately shouted, âTake a few people with you to the scene and see if there is anything suspicious there.â
Clintâs expression changed slightly. Things had been calm for a long time, and he thought everything was smooth-sailing. However, did something happen again?
âAlright. Iâll do it right away.â
After saying that, Clint pushed the door open and left. As soon as he opened the door, he was greeted by the Old Master, who was rushing over.
The Old Master had just arrived at the hospital. This was because Clint drove at a break-neck speed whereas the Old Masterâs driver wanted to deliver him there safely. After all, he was an old man.
When the Old Master saw Clint, he immediately asked nervously, âHow is she?â
Clint looked at him in surprise. It was mainly because the Old Master looked really strange. Didnât he hate Miss George? This incident might have been a blessing in disguise for Miss George after all.
At the thought of this, Clint deliberately exaggerated Eudoraâs injury.
âAll of Miss Georgeâs toes are broken. The doctor said that it may leave sequelae. I donât know where Miss George had gotten the courage to do that. Sticking her foot underneath your wheelchair to stop you from falling. It hurts even when I think about it.â
The expression on the Old Masterâs face turned even more terrible, âIâll go in and have a look.â
Clint nodded, secretly pleased with himself.
The Old Master paused at the door of the ward for a while, then pushed the door open, and went in.
âEudoraâ¦.â
Eudora immediately let go of Amosâ hand and smiled at the Old Master, âOld Master, you are here!â
When Eudora let go of his hand, Amos frowned and reached for her hand again. Eudora could not get rid of his hand, so she just rolled her eyes at him.
The Old Master didnât say a word, but his eyes fell on her feet, âAre you okay? Does it hurt? Iâll ask someone to go to Country M to fetch the best orthopedic doctor there to treat you.â
Itâs okay,â Eudora shook her head, âIâm fine.â
The Old Master frowned, âHow are you fine? Arenât all of your toes broken? If there are any sequelae, it will be bad.â
Amos snorted and said, âI thought that this would give you an excuse to drive her away.â
Old Master Granger knew that he was in the wrong, so he did not retort.
Eudora quickly ran her fingers along Amosâs palm and whispered, âDonât say thatâ¦â
Then, she said again, âIâm really fine. Donât worry. It was my idea to bring you to see the maple leaves. I never thought that it would turn out like this. Iâm sorry.â
âEudora, donât say that,â the Old Master said with a gloomy look.
âI misjudged you. Iâ¦â the Old Master said and then stopped. He opened his mouth but nothing came out. Soon, he continued.
âYouâll know when you get better!â
After that, he ordered his servant, âTake me back!â
After the Old Master left the hospital, he went straight back to the mansion. Everyone had already heard about the accident and they had all gathered in the main room.
When Harry Granger saw the Old Master, he was the first to run over and push his wheelchair.
âBrother, you scared me to death. When I heard that something had happened to you, I was so scared out of my wits that I immediately dropped everything and rushed home. Where did you hurt? Are you alright?â
The Old Master shook his head, âItâs okay. Donât make a big deal about it!â
Kaylene Yoder, who was next to him, immediately said, âBrother, I was worried that something would happen to you when I saw you go out in the morning. Eudora has always been a scourge. She was suddenly so attentive to you and I am wondering if she was trying to kill you. It must be the case! She must have done this so that she could marry Amos!â
The Old Masterâs face became even more gloomy, and Bethany Hamilton, who was standing next to him, was also shocked. When the Old Master told her to take a couple of days off, she had decided to go to the mountain to pray. She even brought Vincent Granger along with her. She just got back not too long ago, and she was still stained with the smell of sandalwood.
âI donât think that Eudora is that kind of person, is she?â
âBethany, what do you know? They may look nice but you have no idea what they think of you in their hearts. The Old Master has said that Eudora is not allowed to marry Amos as long as he is alive. Besides, youâve been away for two days, so you wouldnât know, would you? The Old Master has been looking for ways to make her suffer. Iâm not surprised if she did it!â
Bethany was also stunned, âIs this true? Old Masterâ¦â
âThatâs enough!â the Old Master finally said, âWhat the h*ll are you talking about? Did you the witness? Who did you see Eudora push me down the hill? You always talk nonsense without thinking first. You guys must be bored out of your minds!â
The Old Master had never scolded anyone like that before. Kaylene was so scared that her jaw dropped. She didnât know how to close it.
Bethany was also surprised, but she soon composed herself.
âOld Master, itâs my fault. Donât be angry.â
