That wasnât the end of it. Amos Granger later took her to their bed once more. In the end, Eudora George fell asleep, worn out from the passionate night.
When she finally calmed down, Amos reached out and softly caressed her face in absolute satisfaction.
âHoney, now letâs see if youâll have the energy to take such interest in other men.â
â¦
When Amos got up the next day, Eudora was already not in the room. This sort of situation was common, especially since Juju had moved out. Whenever he was too rough with Eudora in the bedroom, she would usually flee to Jujuâs room in the middle of the night.
Therefore, Amos didnât really think too much of her absence.
After he got out of bed and washed up, he ordered some breakfast. He then walked over to Jujuâs room and pushed the door open.
Juju was already up and she had changed out her pajamas, âGood morning, Daddy!â She greeted with enthusiasm upon seeing Amos at her door.
âGood morning,â Amos replied, rubbing the back of his head, âThereâs breakfast on the table. Have your breakfast when youâre ready.â
When Juju left her room, Amos walked over to the bathroom in her room, âItâs light out now. When are you going to stop hiding in there? Come out.â
Not a sound came from the bathroom in reply. Amos frowned, proceeding to push the door open.
It was empty.
He spun around the room, searching the cupboards just in case. There really was no one in here.
Outside the door, Juju saw the commotion that Amos was making in her room, âDaddy, Mommy didnât come to my room last night.â
Amos felt a bit embarrassed and he paused for a moment, âAlright, thank you. Eat up first, wonât you?â
Taking out his mobile phone, he tried to call Eudora. The operatorâs recorded voice message answered him instead. That meant her phone was turned off.
He then went to call the front desk and had gotten word that no one had left the resort. The security system in this resort was pretty decent, and perhaps he should look into the security footage. If he saw that she was safe, heâll be able to stop worrying.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
Harley Louis sounded delirious as he spoke, âAmos, bad news. That annoying Thea hasnât been back to our room since she left last night.â
Amos opened the door, âWhen did you see her last?â
âAt Christopherâs door. She kicked me and left right after. I thought she would return to our room by herself, but she still hasnât come back yet.â
At the same time, Christopherâs door opened as well. He stood by his opened door, dumbfounded. As though sensing that someone was staring at his back, Harley turned around and met Christopherâs eye.
His eyes lit up, âYour woman is missing, too?â
Christopher frowned, âCould it be that yours are missing as well?
Amos suddenly heaved a sigh of relief. With a sudden realization, Harley spoke up, âAh, I know now. Those three must have made plans to ditch us so they could go out and have fun by themselves!â
Christopher suddenly thought of Tinaâs cramped foot from last night, âIâll find them and bring them back.â
âWhere are you going to find them? Their phones are turned off, and thereâs no trace of them anywhere!â
After that, both of them looked at Amos.
Amos sat across Juju and began to eat his breakfast in leisure, âThey just went out to relax. Why are you two getting so anxious?â
âHold on! Thatâs not rightâ¦â Harley thought out loud.
âTina left because Christopher slept with her even though he didnât like her, so itâs only reasonable that she ran off. As for Thea⦠Well, weâre not well-matched so thatâs reasonable. But you and Eudora though, you are happy with each other. Why did she leave too? Did you do something to her last night?â
Amos glared at Harley, covering Jujuâs ears.
âJust do whatever you want!â
Harley knew that he had misspoken again. So, he hurried over to Juju and tried to appease her, âYour mother is not here today. How about I take you sight-seeing? How does that sound?â He asked Juju with a smile.
Juju frowned at the suggestion instantly, âNo!â
Harley went silent at that.
He had no choice but to turn towards Christopher and take hold of his hand, âForget it then. Come on, Christopher. Letâs go have some fun outside!â
Unfortunately, Christopher rejected his offer as well, âSorry, I donât quite have the time.â
Harley let out a chuckle.
âWell then, forget it. Iâll just go back to my room and sleep!â
After saying that, he went straight back to his room. However, as he lay on the bed, he could not get the image of Theaâs red-rimmed eyes out of his head.
After tossing and turning in his bed for a while, Harley sat up. He was feeling incredibly annoyed.
âThat woman. Why did she cry just because I brought up about her family?â
Feeling curious, Harley took out his mobile phone and dialed a number.
He worked in a police station, so it was easy for him to pull up any information he wanted from anyone. He gave his colleague a call and asked them to look up Theaâs information for him.
Not long after, he received a reply.
âBoss, how did you come to know of this woman? She really is not one to be trifled with!â
Harley was taken aback, âWhat do you mean?â
âI mean literally. If Iâm not mistaken, Thea Stewart is the eldest daughter of the Stewart family in Rosaville City. She doesnât have a very good rep. The Stewarts felt that she had brought shame to the family when she fought with her younger sister over a man. Her parents shunned her from their home and forced her to make a living by herself from a young age. There were rumors going around that sheâs often seen together with different men. The Stewart family literally threw her out to feed the dogs. They even said itâd be best if she just died out there.â
Harley was visibly upset, âAre there really such parents in the world?â
His colleague was rendered silent for a while, âBoss, are you okay? Itâs clear that Thea is the disobedient sort. How could a lady from a rich family act out like that?â
âWhat do you know?!â Harley argued while gritting his teeth, âBeing seen together with different men doesnât necessarily mean sheâs done anything wrong. Couldnât she just be working with them? Colleagues? Or even friends?â
At this point, Harley recalled his past behavior. Didnât he bear the same judgment towards her in the beginning?
He felt himself getting increasingly more annoyed so he hung up the phone.
As it turned out, her familyâs pretty horrible. No wonder she got so upset at the mention of her family last night.
In fact, she probably acted out the way she did deliberately because she wanted to get other peopleâs attention, didnât she?
Just like many children, if one found out that no one loved them in the family, they would do all sorts of nonsense to garner attention. Sometimes, theyâd even act sick, just because they wanted their parentsâ attention.
Unfortunately, the cold-blooded Stewarts had instead completely turned her away.
What a poor thing.
Harley started to feel guilty. He had already had trouble sleeping, and now he could just forget about the possibility of getting any rest altogether.
He waited in the room for a while. It was already afternoon, and the three women still didnât come back. Harley started feeling anxious.
Meanwhile, in Amosâ room.
After catching Amosâ numerous glances towards the door, Juju couldnât help but speak up, âDaddy, if you miss Mommy, canât you just call her?â
Amos frowned. If only his call could get through to her.
Amos didnât reply to Jujuâs inquiry. Instead, he asked, âArenât you worried?â
âWhy should I be worried? Didnât Daddy say that Mommy went out to have fun? I think thatâs pretty good. Itâs already hard for her to take care of me every day. She deserves it.â
Such a sensible child. Amos reached out and caressed Jujuâs hair.
After a while, Juju said again, âMommy said that she wanted to drink last time. Itâd be nice if she is doing it now.â
Jujuâs statement alarmed Amos.
Hearing his daughterâs words, Amos couldnât help but envision Eudoraâs sultry look that always accompanied her whenever she had something to drink. He couldnât sit still any longer. He was jittering with anxiety.
Places like the bar were crowded with all sorts of wicked people. Anything could happen to her.
