Steven Granger heaved out another sigh when he saw that Eudora George was quiet.
âTo be honest, Iâm also pretty troubled. Since I was a child, my family has been in a mess. I really admire families in which everyone could get along well. Itâs hard to achieve for a family like ours.â
He was right. While Eudora was still extremely cautious around Steven, she did agree with his sentiments.
âUnfortunately, I was still young at that time, so I couldnât do anything about it. Now that Iâve grown up, Iâm finally capable of dealing with it. In the future, Iâm certain that Amos and I will be able to get along with each other.â
Eudora raised her eyebrows.
Steven did not push further when he realized that Eudora was unconvinced. âActions speak louder than words in matters like these. Only time will tell.â
All of a sudden, he asked, âEudora, if I remember correctly, youâre a designer, right?â
Eudora nodded, âYes!
âThatâs great! Our amusement park is currently looking for a designer. My father said Valiant East has a lot of professional designers who are willing to help me with this. However, my vision is very much different from theirs. Iâm not saying that Valiant Eastâs designers arenât good. Itâs just that theyâre all too old-fashioned! I want to incorporate something fresh and hip into my project. You lived abroad for a while, werenât you? Would you be interested in joining our team?â
Was he asking for her help for his project?
Eudora thought it was inappropriate, and that it would be better if she refused, âI donât think itâs right for me to do that. I think itâd be better for you to ask Amos about this.â
Steven looked a little disheartened, âAh, I see. Thatâs okay. I suppose I wonât take up any more of your time then!â
He then left the Ruby House.
Looking at his retreating back, Eudora felt a little confused. Stevenâ¦
At this moment, Auntie Valerie spoke, âMiss, I think that this might be an antique painting.â
Eudora was snapped out of her thoughts and she proceeded to open the box. It really was an antique painting, and it seemed to be an artwork from a famous painter.
Based on her experience with such art, Eudora could tell that the gift was authentic. Steven was really generous.
âWhere shall we put this, Miss?â Auntie Valerie asked.
Having thought about it for a moment, âLeave it in the storage room for now!â
Auntie Valerie nodded and followed her orders.

Meanwhile, in Valiant East.
Harley Louis had been incredibly bored for the past few days. Upon hearing Amosâ plan to take a holiday trip together, Harley came to the office early in the morning just to ask Amos about it.
He was shocked when he learned that Christopher Gellert would be tagging along too.
âFu*k, youâre doing all this just to defeat a rival. Youâve really turned crazy!â
Amos spared him a leisurely glance, âNot only will I be able to do that, but Iâm also going to set him up with someone else too.â
âOh, thatâs much more vicious than beating him up! Thank goodness weâre friends.â
At this moment, Clint Zuckerberg came into the office, âYoung Master Steven is here with his proposalâ
Amos nodded, âAsk him to wait for me in the conference room.â
Harley was shocked, âSteven? Which Steven? Your Uncle Harryâs son?â
âWho else would it be?â
âHoly heck! Are you actually negotiating with him? Just tell him to f*ck off!â Harley hollered angrily, his rage befitting his job title.
Whenever he thought about the hardships that Harry Granger had put Amos through, he was tempted to just spring up from his seat and break something in rage.
Clint looked at Harley helplessly, âPlease calm down, Mr. Louis.â
âCalm down? What do you mean? They must be thinking of ways to take advantage of you, Amos. I just know it!â
âI know what Iâm doing,â Amos responded, heading to the conference room.
After he left the office, Harley recalled their indefinite plans for tomorrow and he proceeded to run after Amos. âHey, are we still going tomorrow? The trip?â
âOf course!â Amos called back.
After that, Harley turned his head towards Clint. âDoes he really know what heâs doing?â
âWhat do you think?â Clint smiled. âOur President Granger will never dig a hole he canât get out of.â
Harley said cheekily, âWell, how many times has he been stuck in a sticky situation because of Eudora?â
âThatâs different!â
Harley stopped speaking after that and found a seat to settle down in. Not a moment later, he jumped out of his chair, âNo, this isnât right!â
Clint thought Harley may have remembered something of importance that warranted such a reaction from him. Immediately, he looked towards Harley gravely, âWhatâs wrong?â
Harley slapped at his thigh. âAmos and Eudora, Christopher and Tina, they make two pairs! Iâm the only single one. This is unacceptable!â
Clint was quiet.
At this point, an idea, or to be more specifically, a person, popped into his mind. Harley proclaimed with a smirk, âIâve got it!â

When Amos got back home that evening, Eudora told him about Stevenâs visit and the gift he brought.
Upon hearing that she had the painting placed in the storage room, Amos nodded. âItâs just to keep our relationship peaceful. Just remember to be careful whenever youâre interacting with them.â
Eudora hummed in acknowledgment. âWhat about the proposal then?â
âI approved it.â Amos replied.
âIs that okay?â Eudora felt like she couldnât understand Amos at the moment.
âWhy not? This is what they want! Only by making them believe that they have the upper hand could we gain the opportunity to strike back at them when theyâre at their weakest.â
This was the Amos she knew. She breathed a sigh of relief. âYouâre right. Did you plan all this out yourself? Oh right, Iâve already had everything packed for tomorrowâs trip. Do you have anything else you want to bring?â
Amos shook his head. âJust you.â
Eudora spared him a glare, âHooligan.â

As they werenât comfortable leaving Juju alone at home, they decided to bring her with them on the trip.
It was coincidentally the weekend. Two days of relaxation seemed perfect.
They were all supposed to meet at Christopherâs companyâs entrance. However, when Eudora and Amos arrived at the meeting spot, Christopher was already there. Juju was first to get out of the car. She ran over to Christopher to say hello.
A while later, Harley also arrived. He brought a companion with him this time. It was the same girl from the last time.
Both of them acted as though they couldnât stand to look at the other in the eye. Eudora looked at them and couldnât help the wistful sigh that escaped her lips, âIt must be nice to be so young!â
Amos laughed. âWhat? Are you saying that we are already an old couple?â
âThatâs not true. Itâs just that Iâve heard what they said about old couples. They would get so used to each otherâs company that the passion once existed between them would eventually disappear.â
Amos frowned. At the next second, he went and grabbed Eudoraâs hand, holding it in his.
âDo you really feel nothing?â
Eudora shook her head. âI donât.â
Amos was upset with her answer. They had not even collected their marriage certificate and yet his wife was already telling him that she didnât feel anything for him anymore. This was a big problem.
As he was contemplating what to do next, Eudora suddenly perked up. âTinaâs here!â
Amos made no move to acknowledge Tina Holt, while Eudora on the other hand looked at her with great interest. âCould you guess how sheâll react when she sees Christopher?â
Amos remained silent. Eudora couldnât help but turn her head towards him and frowned. âHey, Iâm talking to you.â
âIâm not interested in knowing about other women. Iâm only interested in you.â
Eudora was rendered speechless. She decided not to talk to this indifferent fellow.
Eudora got out of the car and walked over to Juju, lifting her into her arms. She used this time to observe both Christopher and Tinaâs expressions stealthily.
It was obvious that both of them were a bit shell-shocked. Christopher had turned to leave right away. Eudora immediately called out to him, effectively holding him back from fleeing.
