Eudora went upstairs immediately. She took a bath and changed her clothes.
Auntie Valerie saw that she had bruises all over her body, so she hurriedly said, âMiss, would you like to rest at home today?â
Eudora shook her head. âNo, I still have a lot of things to deal with.â
Amos Granger was so angry last night. She didnât know what was going to happen.
Sure enough, as soon as she arrived at the company, she saw a group of people gathering at the entrance.
Eudora hurried over and squeezed through the crowd.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âEudora!â Everyone looked relieved when they saw her. âYouâre finally here. TEM Inc had transferred President Gellert to the lowest position in the company. He is in charge of the construction sites now!â
âWhat?â Eudora hurriedly looked at the notice in front of her.
They had given a well-justified explanation. It was basically saying that Christopher Gellert had not been managing his team well, resulting in the slow development of the company. Hence, he was temporarily transferredâ¦
She saw TEM Incâs red stamp at the bottom, and the words were written clearly.
Eudoraâs heart sank. Amosâ¦
Just as she was thinking about it, Christopher walked out of his office with his belongings in his hands. The crowd hurriedly gathered around him. They didnât want him to leave.
âPresident Gellertâ¦â
Christopher smiled and said, âHey, donât be like that. Didnât you guys see what was on the notice? Iâll only be transferred temporarily. Iâll be back!â
He used his best Terminator impersonation to say the last sentence, but no one laughed.
They were all adults, and they were all well aware of the politics of corporate life. The pretentious words on the notice were just to make things look good on the surface.
If Christopher really left, it would be unlikely for him to come back.
Eudora understood this, but Christopher shook his head at her, indicating her not to speak.
She watched as everybody followed Christopher outside and watched him leave. Eudora took out her mobile phone and dialed Amosâ number.
The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered the call.
Eudora frowned and immediately drove her car out.
Everything was still fine the last time she came to Valiant East. Hence, when Eudora entered the lobby, she immediately walked to the elevator.
The security guard immediately stopped her. âSorry, Miss, the President has given us instructions. You are not allowed to go upstairs.â
Eudora frowned. âI have something to ask him.â
âYou canât do that either. Why donât you make an appointment? You can then meet President Granger when the times comes.â
âHow long do I have to wait?â
âAt least a week from nowâ¦â
Eudora was speechless.
As she was locked in a deadly glare with the guard, Wendy Liam came in from outside. âHello, Iâm here to see President Granger, Iâm Miss Wendy Liam.â
The girl at the front desk immediately smiled and said, âPresident Granger is waiting for you.â
Wendy nodded. When she turned around, she pretended as if she had just seen Eudora, âMiss George, what a coincidence! Are you here to see Amos?â
The words that Eudora was about to say disappeared into thin air.
She pursed her lips, turned around, and walked out.
Wendy happily went upstairs after that. Yesterday, Amos had punished Kesha George in front of her. She thought that her plan had failed, but it turned out to be a success!
Thinking of this, Wendy became more confident. Amos must be feeling extremely dispirited now. She must seize the opportunity to comfort him.
This was the only way to make him notice that she was a much better woman than Eudora.
The elevator went all the way up to the 12th floor.
Wendy walked happily to Amosâ office. Clint Zuckerberg was waiting outside the office. When he saw Wendy coming, he wanted to say something, but Wendy smiled and interrupted him before he could say anything.
âIs Amos waiting for me?â she piped up.
Just as Clint was about to shake his head, Wendy was already pushing the door open.
Clint hurriedly stopped her. âSorry, Miss Liam. President Granger is not here. I heard that you have a design that youâd like President Granger to look at. Please leave it here. President Granger will take a look at it when he comes back.â
Wendy frowned, but since Clint was Amosâ assistant, she still smiled patiently at him.
âMr. Zuckerberg, you must be joking. The receptionist at the front desk had just told me that Amos is waiting for me here.â
Upon hearing this, Clint smiled slightly. âThatâs right, but right after President Granger gave the okay, he suddenly had matters to deal with. He had since gone out.â
âThen Iâll go in and wait for himâ¦â
âSorry, I canât allow you to do that.â Clint added, âNon-authorized personnel is not allowed to enter President Grangerâs office. If you insist on waiting, you could do so here. Iâll bring a chair over!.â
Wendy was angry, but in order to please Amos, she suppressed her anger.
âAlright!â
Clint went to find her a chair to let her sit by the door. He then stood next to her. Everyone who passed by would stop and say hello to Clint, but they all found it strange that a woman was sitting there.
She was like a display object being scrutinized.
Wendy couldnât sit still in the end. âForget it, I remembered that I still have some business to deal with. Iâm heading back now!â
Clint nodded, still as serious as before. âAs you please.â
â¦
Since Eudora couldnât meet Amos at the company, she went home and waited for him.
Ever since they were together, Amos would come back for dinner every day unless something came up.
In the end, her little wish went unfulfilled, and Amos did not come back.
In the evening, Eudora was lying on the bed with her eyes wide open. In the middle of the night, someone opened the door and slowly walked to the bedside.
Eudora hurriedly sat up. Sure enough, Amos had come back.
When their eyes met, Amos put down the coat in his hand. âWere you looking for me? For Christopher?â
Eudora pursed her lips and finally said, âThe matter between us has nothing to do with him, does it? If you want me to stay, then I will stay. Just let him go. You can fire him if you donât want him in the company.â
Amos snorted and did not move.
Eudora didnât know what to say. She had initially wanted to question Amos, but she gave up in the end.
She knew that beggars couldnât be choosers. But she was foolish enough to think that Amos was any different.
Thinking of this, she suddenly stepped forward and hugged him from behind.
âI wonât think about leaving in the future. Donât be angry, okay?â
Her soft voice echoed on his back. It was gentle, but at the same time, it was like a sharp sword piercing his heart.
In the end, she had humbled herself for the sake of another man. She was obviously such a strong woman, a woman who could stab even herself!
He hooked her arm with his hand, pulled her to face him, and looked down to meet her eyes.
She shrank a little and asked, âWhatâs the matter?â
âNothing,â Amos said.
âDo you think youâre helping Christopher by doing this? I can see through sincerity and hypocrisy. Eudora, donât try to challenge my patience with your little tricks. Donât make me hate you with your flattery. These are useless on meâ¦.â
He paused for a moment and said, âIf I really come to hate you, it may not be good for Christopher.â
âYouâre shameless!â Eudora couldnât help but proclaim.
âHahâ¦â Amos laughed and reached out to touch her head. âNow, thatâs my little wild cat.â
