Eudora George took a deep breath and turned the door handle.
As she stepped inside, she noticed a large extravagant desk in the center of the room. The man was leaning with his back against the desk.
âMr. Granger!â Eudora spoke.
âAh! Youâre here.â Amos Grangerâs voice was very calm and indifferent.
On the other hand, the indifference in Amosâ voice made Eudora even more nervous.
âDonât be nervous. Take a seat.â Amos said as he turned around to face Eudora. He was just as stunning as she had seen him yesterday.
And his eyes especially. If you stare at them long enough, his watchful gaze seemed to be able to pierce through your soul.
âThatâs alright!â Eudora placed the file on the table. âThis is the Phantom Groupâs proposal. Please take a look.â
âThereâs no need to rush!â Amos didnât even glance at the document on the table. He walked around the table and towards Eudora.
His tall stature was very intimidating as he approached her. With every step he took towards her, Eudora could feel her heart tremble as she took a step back.
âWhy did you look like you didnât sleep well last night?â
âAh?â Eudora was confused. âWhat did he mean?â she thought to herself.
âFelix doesnât treat you very well, does he?â
âWhat are you trying to say, Mr. Granger? Does it matter if Felix treats me well or not? What does that have to do with you or with the project?â
âOf course it has something to do with the project!â
Amos replied calmly, âIf it wasnât for you, the Phantom Group wouldnât even have the chance to bid for the project.â
Eudora didnât realise that she had walked herself to the corner of the office, her back falling against the wall. There were no other ways to escape. Once again, she was cornered to the wall by the man. He breathed in her scent.
It was that very scent that made him intoxicated.
Eudora knew the intentions of the man standing in front of her â her hands instinctively reached towards his chest to push him away.
âMr. Granger, Iâve told you last night that weâre even now and we donât owe each other anymore. If you are going to act so inappropriately towards me again, rest assured I will not hold back.â
Amos chuckled, âAre you afraid of me?â
âI know what youâre trying to do to me. Obviously Iâd be scared, wonât I?â Eudora responded.
Amos heard what she said and let go of her.
He sat on the sofa and looked at the woman in front of him. âYou knew and yet you still came here?â
âIâm here for the project!â Eudora picked up the file from the table and pushed it to Amos.
Amos still refused to look at the proposal. âDidnât I make myself clear? Any other company can do the project much better. Why should I choose Phantom Group? Give me a reason.â
Eudora clenched her teeth. âWhat do I have to do to make you take a look at the proposal.â
âBe my woman!â Amos exclaimed.
âImpossible!â Eudora was taken aback. âIâm married. Iâm Felix Meyerâs wife.â
âOh!â Amos was not surprised at all. âSo what if youâre married? Werenât you the one who seek me out that night? Weâre all adults, we have our own needs. I think you understandâ¦â
âWe have our own needs?â
Eudoraâs face turned pale. âWhat kind of person do you think I am?â
Amos raised his eyebrows, âA married woman roaming around in the middle of the night to find a man to pleasure herself. What kind of person do you think I will see you as?â
âYou!â Eudoraâs face turned red. âThat night was just an accident! Mr. Granger, if you do not have any plans to discuss about the proposal, then I donât think we have anything else to say to each other.â
âOk!â Amos crossed his legs and stared lazily at the upset woman in front of him. âIf you reject me today, I believe there will be repercussions waiting for you at the Meyer Family yes?â
âThatâs none of your business!â
After that, Eudora rushed out and left the office.
