Terrant POV

‘I haven’t slept,’ Terrant sighed tiredly to himself as they approached the border of the Winters pack land. He was in meetings all night, setting up for the wolves that would eventually be sent to his pack and the females who signed up for military training. Any time that he had to himself he was researching all the books he had on rouges. He also had this inner anxiety to see Chris again, it was a risk to show her how extreme the traditionalist problem was in his pack, however, he was hopeful. He felt like he could trust her, in fact he felt like she could be an ally or even a friend...eventually.

‘Just glad that she stopped wearing that perfume.’ Terrant said to his wolf, who snorted with laughter. Terrant found that during their lunch he had no sneezing fits or overwhelming desire to rip off his face due to a sudden sneeze attack.

The front driver window went down and a uniformed border patrol asked their business in the Winters pack. Terrants driver talked with him and then pulled down Terrants window so the patrol could confirm it was him. He waved them along and they headed to pack city which was about 45 minutes from the border.

Terrant tried to get some much needed rest but thoughts and figures kept chasing around in his head, occasionally Chris would pop in there between other thoughts of pack related business.

His wolf smirked as he shook his head attempting to shake the thought of her. ‘She is very attractive. Not just physically, but in the way she presents herself. Would it be so bad-’

‘Yes it would.' Terrant snapped. 'So don’t even finish that sentence. Don’t make things more complicated by thinking we have some sort of right to ask anything of her in that fashion.’ His tone was so final, his wolf halted all conversation.

Terrant sighed again to himself. He felt the same as his wolf but he couldn’t entertain the idea, there were too many moving pieces, and he didn’t have control over the majority of them. He closed his eyes and attempted to rest while his driver and small entourage of vehicles continued to travel closer to Pack City.

Terrant felt the car slow down again and the driver's window went down. “Alpha, we are at Pack City.” Terrant lifted his head up as his window went down again to confirm his identity. The patrol nodded and the car was allowed to pass. Terrant immediately straightened in his seat and gasped. The last time he was there he went through the training grounds near the Pack house which didn’t allow him to see Pack City itself.

He didn’t realize that this was a full city, not town, not settlement, a city. The car passed buildings with businesses, restaurants, schools, apartment complexes, a hospital, and a college campus. As they got closer to the Pack house there were suburbs with parks, a community center, and convenience stores. If he didn’t know better he would have assumed they were driving through a human city. They hit the front driveway of the Pack house which had another patrol checking and directing all vehicles coming into the compound. Some vehicles in front of them appeared to be filled with soldiers who were told to follow a side road that went around the pack house.

The Patrol checked his clipboard and leaned down to hear Terrants driver advise that the next 4 vehicles were part of Alpha Terrants caravan. The Patrol looked in the back window and pointed his vehicle to go to the front entrance and the other vehicles to go to the back of the pack house.

Terrant’s car started up the drive and to the entrance of the mansion like pack house. An attendant opened Terrant’s door as they stopped at the front steps. Terrant stepped out and straightened his suit jacket looking up at the second story tiers. He kind of wished that Ian came with him, so he could see this, but he really needed him to continue to work the new policies at home. Also he was constantly teasing Terrant about Chris, which was irritating.

An unexpected arm around his shoulder made him jump. “We're not getting any younger friend.” Alpha Black said on his right, followed by a second arm around his left shoulder which belonged to his brother, both were topless with shorts and sandals.

Terrant ducked his head out of the brothers half embrace, a playful smile on his face. “No we are not. Did you guys run here too?”

Alpha Black shrugged, “Honestly it might not be as fast as driving, but it is definitely therapeutic. Also our wolves are known for their speed.”

Terrant smiled, “I will have to test that sometime.”

“Be prepared to lose.” Joseph said walking up the steps behind them as his car took off after Terrants following a road around the mansion.

Terrant shook his head, “I can’t win one on one combat with you. Can’t win a race with Alpha Black, or his brother. Honestly, what does that leave me with?”

Joseph smirked and tapped hard on the top of Terrants head. “That big brain of yours.”

“I would like the big brained Alpha and his constituents on my front step to come inside. Please.” Said a female voice emanating through the front door that had just started to open.

Joseph tilted his head toward the opening door, “Ah, the muse has spoken.” He gestured for Terrant to enter first. “You are the big brained Alpha.”

Terrant rolled his eyes and walked into the familiar lobby, followed by Joseph and the Black brothers. Chris was leaning against the front desk with a smirk on her face and her dark black glasses glinting. There appeared to be an entourage of pack members surrounding her and packed down the halls. An increase in muttering started as soon as they entered the lobby. To the left and right of the lobby the other Alpha’s, some with their Beta’s, were waiting.

Alpha Gray huffed and rolled his eyes before muttering, "finally!"

Chris accepted a clipboard and pen from one of her office staff, ignoring Alpha Gray. "Everyone appears to be here, unless we are waiting for another party?" The room was silent as the Alphas glanced at each other. Chris nodded and clicked her pen close  before handing the clipboard back to the staff member. “In that case. Welcome everyone to Winters pack and Pack City. I apologize for the need to congregate in the lobby but we are on a tight schedule and do not have time to freshen up.” A snort was heard in Alpha Gray and Alpha Freemans direction.

Chris pushed her hair back behind her shoulders, she wore it long today, with an intricate braid pattern pulling her bangs back while the rest of her hair curled around her shoulders. She also wore a black uniform that was tight to her body, with silver knives strapped to both her calves. Terrant felt a little overdressed as he saw that Joseph was wearing a very similar military outfit. They both looked ready for war. Terrant looked like he was ready to do the books.

“Before we start I would like to introduce you all to some of my staff members.” Chris motioned to her left. “You all have met or seen my Beta Garrett.” Garrett nodded which was received with several nods from the group of Alphas. Chris then motioned on her right. “This is Omega Gia and my second in command.”

Terrant already met Omega Gia but how small she was compared to other wolves was extremely obvious as Chris gestured to the tiny wolf next to her. Gia nodded her head in acknowledgment, and a snort was heard on the other side of the lobby.

“That is the Omega?! You have got to be kidding me. This is a joke.” Alpha Gray said out loud looking around himself to see if others were laughing.

Alpha Freeman opened his mouth to respond, a cruel smirk on his face, when Chris cut him off, “I wouldn’t insult an Omega. Especially Gia, she has quite a temper.” Gia’s eyes flashed but she said nothing as her intense glare focused on Alpha Gray.

Alpha Freeman apparently couldn’t resist putting in his two cents because he laughed as he said, “Sounds like you don’t have control over your own Omega, Alpha Winters.”

A slight growl and shift was seen on the other side of the room. Alpha Hunt, who was sporting his own style of fighting garment with loose brown pants, dark shirt, long brown leather coat, and black leather gloves. He had a belt that looked like it usually held a scabbard and sword, but was currently empty, along with a strapped knife on his other hip. His white blonde hair was tied back, giving him a severe look that made the Winters pack members, and other Alphas around him shift even further away. In front of him he held a cane with a crystal topper, which he fingered as he looked over Gia. “How unfortunate…” Alpha Hunt muttered quietly watching Gia’s every move.

Alpha Gray immediately interjected with a smirk. “That is exactly my sentiment, Alpha-”

“How unfortunate,” Alpha Hunt continued glancing quickly at Alpha Gray who clammed up immediately. “That an Omega of such power is belittled by those who don’t seem to understand her kind.” He shifted slightly which made the wolves around him move further away. “Very…. unfortunate.” He stared at Gia again whose eyes looked to be glowing slightly as they examined each other.

Alpha Freeman and Gray appeared to be cowed by their allies' comment, and wisely decided not to respond. Chris watched the interaction between Alpha Hunt and her Omega. Gia suddenly looked at Chris as though she had said her name out loud, and without another word Chris continued speaking to the group as though nothing had happened.

“Now I would like to introduce my High Priest and Priestess.” Two wolves, in blue and white robes, next to Gia nodded slightly to the crowd. “They have an announcement as well.” Chris nodded at the female who took a step forward.

“Welcome to all of you. As many of you know there will be a new moon in three days and as such to celebrate the new moon we will have a ceremony along with a party to welcome the moon and our guests. All of you and those members of your packs who are here during that time are welcome to attend. Thank you for coming and Goddess Bless.”

The sentiment ‘Goddess Bless’ was repeated by the majority of the group, and the Priestess stepped back.

“Thank you Helma. Now I want to introduce your personal assistants. A line of wolves dressed in green uniforms, with a silver strip around the right arm, came forward and stopped in front of Chris. “While you are on my pack land you will have a personal assistant to help you if you ever have trouble finding things or if you need to talk to someone such as myself. They can all link to me or any of my staff. They are all very knowledgeable about Winters pack and the land surrounding it. I recommend keeping them by you as a resource, however, if you decide not to use them they will always be available to you. Again,” Chris paused looking meaningfully in Alpha Gray and Freeman’s direction. “These assistants are to help you with orienting to my pack and the surrounding area, they are not a servant, and should not be treated as such.”

Chris nodded at the group and motioned to her left. “We will go on a tour of Pack City and surrounding areas, including the hospital, weapons center, and training grounds. This is Lane and Jessie, who will be our official tour guides. There will be two trucks heading out, all Alpha’s should be in the first truck and any Beta’s or other staff members can follow in the second truck.” Chris’s gaze snapped to the front doors which were suddenly opened by attendants, allowing a cold autumn breeze to move through the front lobby.

Terrant and those closest to the front doors headed outside followed by the other Alphas. As expected there were two military trucks with the canvas cover topper taken off the back to allow for full visibility. Terrant heard a mutter of irritation from Alpha Freeman, something about being driven about like a common soldier.

Chris made her way to the front of the group and led all the Alphas to the first truck. She pulled herself up the high steps and turned around to look at the small crowd behind her. Terrant felt his heart leap as her silver white hair caught in another breeze and blew the curls away from her shoulders. Alpha Amari and a few other Alphas were speaking to their Betas, probably about the safety logistics of being separated.

“Don’t worry we are all going to the same place and your truck will be following close behind ours.” Chris said loudly over the crowd.

Alpha Amari nodded to his Beta, who nodded back and started toward the second truck. Alpha Black shoved his brother before moving to the first truck. Alpha Gray’s Beta looked like he swallowed a cue ball. “What if the Alpha’s truck is attacked during transit?”

“Really Raymond?” said Alpha Scott, giving him a hard slap on the back. “If the truck gets attacked in Alpha Winters pack, in her city, I think we have more to worry about than a big pack of rogues.” He laughed jovially, walking up to the truck and climbing in after Chris.

Terrant made his way up to the truck and was disappointed to find that all the areas close to Chris were already taken.

Joseph was last in the truck and literally sat on Terrant. “Op! Sorry! Budge up there!” Alpha Freeman who was next to Terrant was not amused by the tight fit.

Chris smirked at Terrant and Joseph before knocking the window and saying loudly. “Let’s go! First stop, Pack City Hospital!”
