Serenaâs POV
Calvin offers to drive me home. Along the way, I spilled everything â how things went down with Elena and Bill, and why Bill ended up punching Max.
Calvinâs grip tightens on the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white as he absorbs what Iâve just told him. âI canât believe Elena would do something like that,â he mutters.
âI know,â I say. âShe never liked me, but I never thought sheâd actually sabotage my chance to be a designer.â
He sighs deeply. âDonât worry. Iâll handle it,â he says, his eyes still fixed on the road. âThanks, Calvin,â I say, managing a small smile.
âDonât overthink it,â Calvin replies. âLetâs just get you home so you can relax. Youâve had a long day.â
We ride in silence, and I lean back, replaying the dayâs event.
I never thought this fashion show would be so chaotic. Thank goodness Calvin was there to help me.
If it wasnât for him, Elenaâs sabotage would have ended my career by now.
âSo, Elena knows youâre pregnant now?â Calvin asks, breaking the silence.
âYep,â I confirm. âShe even asked me who the father is. Can you believe that? She really thinks the worst of

âNothing,â I say. âI donât need to explain anything to her. I can raise this baby on my
own.â
Calvin thinks for a moment. âYou know sheâs going to keep pressing you for answers, right?â he says.
I nod, biting my lip. âYeah, I know. But Iâm done letting her get to me.â
Calvinâs shoulders stiffen as he briefly takes his eyes off the road to glance at me.
âListen, Serena,â he begins. âI donât want Bill and Elena bothering you about the baby.

Why donât we just tell them Iâm the father?â
My heart skips a beat, and I feel my eyes widen in disbelief as I turn to face him. âAre you being serious right now?â
âIs there a problem?â he asks, his eyebrows lifting in question. âIâm just thinking⦠If they believe Iâm the father, Elena and Bill might back off.â
I shake my head, frustration building inside me. âBut thatâs a lie, Calvin. And itâs not just any lie â itâs a huge one. How long do you think we can keep that up? And what about when the baby is born? What then?â
Calvin glances over. âSerena, I know it starts with a lie, but listenâIâm serious about this. Iâm ready to step up and be there for you and the baby. Not just now, but for as long as you need.â
I take a deep breath. âCalvin, that means so much, really, but I canât let you do that. It would just complicate things even more between you and Bill. Itâs not just about us â it affects your whole family.â
Calvinâs mouth tightens, but he nods, understanding the dilemma. âI know itâs
complicated. But think about it, okay? I just want to make sure you both are safe and supported. Thatâs what matters most to me.
As Calvin pulls into the driveway of my apartment, we ride the last few minutes in complete silence, each lost in our thoughts. He cuts the engine and turns to face me. âThink about what I said, Serena. Whatever you decide, Iâm here,â he says one last time.
I nod, feeling the weight of the day pressing down on us both. âWell, letâs just call it a day, okay? Weâre both tired, and we can talk more about this later.â
Calvin sighs, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly as he nods in agreement. Youâre right. Get some rest, and weâll figure this out when weâre both clear-headed.â
Ast unlock my apartment door, Calvinâs offer keeps running through my mind. Should I tell Elena and Bill that Calvin is the father of my baby?
It might make Bill leave me alone, but Iâm not sure about Elena. I donât know what she might do next, and I donât want her to hurt my baby.
Calvin really seems to want to help, to make sure the baby and I are safe. But for tonight, Iâm just too tired to think this through.
