Chapter 0045
Serenaâs POV
âGirl, your video is blowing up!â Stevieâs text flashes on my screen. âThat story is insane. Youâve got to spillâwhoâs the ex from hell?â
Itâs been barely two days since I posted my first storytime video, but it already has over 200K views and 50K likes. Iâm shocked that it went viral so quickly.
âCome to the shop later, Iâll spill the details. Canât talk right now, itâs really busy today,â I text back.
The shop is busier than usual today, and I canât help but wonder if itâs because of the viral storytime video I posted.
As Iâm helping a customer find the perfect piece of jewelry, a woman approaches me with a sharp tone. âAre you the owner of this shop? I need to talk to you,â she demands rudely.
âIâm currently assisting someone, but Iâll be with you as soon as Iâm finished,â I reply, trying to keep my tone polite and professional.
Iâm amazed by the sense of entitlement this woman has. Itâs the first. time Iâve ever had to deal with a potential customer acting like this. But then again, I guess thereâs always a first time for everything.
She doesnât even let me finish. Cutting me off, she accuses, âHow dare you drag my daughter in one of your TikTok videos?â
Instantly, I piece it together this must be Dorisâ mother. I respond calmly, making it clear that I havenât wronged her daughter. âI didnât drag anyone, Maâam. I made sure not to mention any names, neither your daughterâs nor my exâboyfriendâs.â
But she just laughs, a mocking sound that grates on my nerves. âLiar. What else should I expect from someone who makes and sells tacky

The customer Iâve been helping canât hold back anymore and jumps in,

clearly annoyed. âExcuse me? If you donât appreciate the jewelry here, maybe you should stick to luxury stores. Seems like thatâs more your speed, you snotty bitch!â
Everyone in the shop tries to hold back their laughter when they hear the customerâs retort. They pretend to be busy browsing or looking at their phones, but itâs clear theyâre all listening. The rude lady glances around, and her face turns red with embarrassment as she realizes sheâs become the center of attention for all the wrong reasons.
âOh, you want to go there, huh?â the lady smirks, shaking off her embarrassment with a sneer. âAlright, Iâll sue you for defamation then, Better start saving for a good lawyer. But looking around this little shop, it seems like youâll be scraping pennies to afford one.â
I canât help but feel a mix of frustration and disbelief. âGo ahead,â I say, my patience wearing thin. âBut this âlittle shopâ and its âtacky jewelryâ have a loyal community who appreciate what we do here. And about affording a lawyer? Donât you worry about me. Iâll manage.â
âOh, and good luck finding the evidence to back up your lawsuit, huh?â I add, trying to highlight the absurdity of her threat.
She huffs, barely containing her disdain. âI donât need to win. I just want. to make this difficult for you.â
Her words are veiled, but the intention is clear. Sheâs hoping to drag me through a legal mess, not necessarily to win, but to make me bleed money and stress over it. I understand then; itâs not about justice for her
â itâs about revenge.
Just as Iâm gearing up to ask this woman to leave, a familiar voice cuts through the tension. âLeave her alone, Patty. This is not the place to
make a scene.â

I whip around to see where itâs coming from. Thereâs Bill, standing not too far off, his arms crossed over his chest like he means business.
Heâs staring down the woman whoâs been making my day harder. Bill looks like heâs ready to step in and handle the situation, which is the last thing I expected to happen today. Itâs weird seeing him stand up for me, especially with everything thatâs gone on.
But here he is, looking like heâs on my side, at least for now.
