Chapter 0130
Serenaâs POV
Bill guides me down a narrow path through the dunes. After a short walk, we arrived at a secluded cove.
A small picnic setup awaits us: a blanket spread out with a basket full of deliciousâlooking treats and a bottle of sparkling cider.
âSurprise!â Bill says, spreading his arms wide.
I gasp, my eyes widening at the sight before me. My heart skips a beat. The blanket is set perfectly with a vase of fresh flowers. The basket is filled with my favorite snacks and fresh fruits, and the sparkling cider catches the sunlight.
I turn to Bill, my eyes misting up. âBill, this is amazing,â say, my voice barely above a whisper.
This is beyond anything I could have imagined. Every detail is perfect, and itâs clear how much effort he put into making this moment special for me.
âItâs nothing,â he says. He notices the tears welling up in my eyes and grins. âAre you seriously about to cry over a picnic?â he teases, gently nudging my shoulder.
I pretend to be annoyed, swatting his arm lightly. âNo way! Iâm not about to cry,â I deny, though my voice wavers slightly. I quickly blink away the tears and try to look stern, but a smile breaks through.
Bill laughs, clearly enjoying my reaction. He sits down on the blanket and taps the spot next to him.â Come. Sit with me,â he urges.
I sit down next to Bill. He opens the picnic basket and arranges the snacks and fresh fruits between us.
âThis is really nice,â I say. âItâs been a while since Iâve gone on a picnic.â
âYeah, I figured you could use a break. Youâve been making quite a name for yourself in the fashion industry lately,â he says with a wink.
I tilt my head, giving him a playful look. âOh, I didnât know you were such a fan.â
âBecause I am,â he admits, pouring us each a glass of cider. âIâve been really impressed with what youâve achieved so far.â
He hands me a glass and raises his own. âTo you,â he says simply.
I clink my glass against his, feeling the sincerity behind his words. âTo us,â I reply, smiling.
We sip our cider and dive into the spread, sampling the assortment of snacks and fresh fruits.
Bill reaches for a piece of cheese and cracker, holding it up to my lips with a playful grin. âTry this one. Itâs my favorite,â he says.
take a bite, savoring the rich flavor. âNot bad,â I say, teasingly. âYou have good taste.â
Bill grins. âI try. So, how have you been feeling lately?â
âIâm okay,â I say, âbut Iâve been getting contractions more often now, and the morning sickness is still
pretty bad.â

Billâs smile fades, replaced by a look of genuine concern. His brow furrows slightly as he processes what Iâve said. âThat sounds toughâ he says, his voice full of worry. âI hate seeing you go through this. Let me help out more. Seriously, whatever you need.â
I shake my head gently. âItâs okay, Bill. Donât worry about me and the baby too much.â
Thereâs a moment of silence. Billâs face falls, and his eyes show a flicker of hurt.
âHow can you say that, Serena?â he asks, his voice tinged with disbelief. âOf course, Iâm going to think about you and our baby. Youâre the most important people in my life.â
âDonât get me wrong, Bill. Itâs justâ¦â I hesitate. âI know youâre going through some stuff right now. You look like youâre distracted today.
âBill looks into the distance, his expression guarded. âItâs nothing,â he says, but I can hear the strain in his voice.*
I touch his arm gently. âBill, I can tell somethingâs bothering you,â I say. âSo, what is it?â
Bill sighs. âYou really wanna know?â
âYou can trust me.â
He looks away. âI feel like Iâm losing my grip on the company,â he says quietly. âPeople donât trust me anymore. Theyâd rather have someone else as CEO. Itâs like everything Iâve worked for is just slipping away.â
Billâs always been the strong, confident one, the person who has everything under control.
Seeing him like this makes my heart ache. I realize just how much pressure heâs been under and how deeply itâs affecting him.
âWell, arenât you gonna say anything?â he asks.
I slowly push myself up, feeling the weight of my pregnancy making it a bit harder to move. I make my way over to him and sit down beside him, resting my head on his shoulder.
âEverythingâs gonna be okay,â I whisper, wrapping my arm around his.
