Leo was walking alongside Alfonso who was getting on his nerves. Alfonso kept defending Leandro. Leo got tired of hearing him "Look. Stop sticking up for Leandro. But again you are one of his soldiers. I shouldn't expect much. Just end it. I dont wish to hear it."
Alfonso was a loyal follower of Leandro but knew when to stop. Leo had his brother's quick reactions and temper.
Leo walked ahead of Alfonso as he followed him silently. He saw Benjamin, his friend and high fives him as his friend laughed "Man, you are still alive... How come you are still in one piece? The guys saw your brother running after you..."
Leo chuckled as he carried on walking and Benjamin walked alongside him.
Alfonso said "Because Leandro gives him special consideration as his brother... He shouldn't be alive..."
Leo turned to him "Special consideration. I see you have fixed up your vocabulary or rather I fixed it for you the last time..." He turned to Benjamin "I dont know why he dropped the severe charges against me today and only gave me laps to run. I have no idea why. I hid in the library and gave him some time to Cool off. I guess the new librarian girl took the heat instead. Can you believe it? She told him to be quiet." He then shook his head " My brother will get her back at initiation tonight. I felt sorry for her. Lord have mercy. She was so petite. My brother was almost twice her size. She needs alot of prayers. Pray with me man." He then closed his eyes as he stopped walking and made the sign of a cross "Lord have mercy on the girl who crossed my brother. She knew not of what she did...Amen." He then opened his eyes and carried on walking.
Benjamin said "You are going soft man. Since when do you care about others."
Leo shrugged "She saved me man by distracting him. My brother was going to skin me alive... Now his target is initiation. I will look out for her if Leandro didnt find another one to focus his attention on... He picks his targets..."
Benjamin asked "Glory... You have done it man this time. Huh? I have got your back."
Leo touched the collar of the shirt he was wearing "I think Leandro's problem is he needs a girl..." He then sighed as he looked into the distance. "Thats my girl that is going to my brother's club now while I have to attend this not so exciting initiation we could have tomorrow. Its so unnecessary. Its time for party. Not to fight on a Wednesday night."
Alfonso rolled his eyes "Well, dont let her leave then. Slash the tires of the car thats taking her."
Leo retorted as he turned "Dont insult me man. I only will need one wire from her car to delay her or from any car. " He then turned to look at Elena from far "But I dont want to make her miss the chance so I wont stop her car. She may not get a second chance from Leandro to perform at his club. Do you know much convincing I had to do? His club is prestigious. Agents from music industry who work for my father hang around on Wednesday nights."
Alfonso said "If Leandro said yes once he will say yes again. Just delay the car... If she misses the gig she has to try another time... Do this or stop complaining."
Leo turned sharply "You know. You are pushing it man. Back off man. I dont have time to floor you tonight. I need to save my energy for the initiation so I make Leandro make a quick work of it." He then turned to Benjamin. "No chance. Leandro doesnt like traitors... I cant get her in his club again and I dont want to ask my mother again to interfere."
Benjamin said "Leandro doesnt even play football. Why does he care if she cheered for the rivals?"
Leo said "Exactly. He is a boxing fanatic... Why does he care? if you figured out my brother let me know."
Benjamin said "Maybe if she played our kind of music your brother will like her more. I am sorry but we can't help her if she refuses to even try for the choir and then biblical band. We don't do rock. At least get her to attend bible studies night on Fridays so your brother can over look her that her rock band is annoying."
Alfonso said "He overlooked at a long time ago. Leo gets special consideration."
Leo sighed and turned to object "Do you want to e floored." Benjamin stopped him and held him back "Alright man. Alfonso has a point. Your brother hates rock music but chooses family over his taste in music and you know it. Your girl must impress him if she wants a place at your father's dinner table. We both know your father nearly fired her father as his entertainment specialist. But he brought in millions of dollars with the last record... So if her father can convince your father she has a chance."
Leo replied "Oh where is she going to make millions of dollars to impress my dad? With her science major she wants to get? ... actually that can work. She might discover the next drug to cure something."
Benjamin whistled "Look there. Who is that?"
Leo turned and saw his brother standing in a circle surrounding a boy wearing a hoodie that didn't belong to their school right in the middle of the basketball court. He used it as execution grounds at times after school hours. Leo sighed "Seriously? My brother hasn't even gone to the initiation building yet. He makes me miss Elena's gig for playing Hit or die?" He then said "Enough is enough." He changed his route and walked across the lawn.
Alfonso said "Do you really think disturbing your brother will win you brownie points. You have used up the credit you already have."
Benjamin said "Don't worry. He can earn the credit back when he wants. He is not like us. He is a Rosario man. We are ones to worry about credit."
Leo shook his head as he saw the game start. The victim was meant to fight everyone in the circle. He hoped the guy was knocked out quick so his brother could get it moving. He looked at his watch. He then looked up and gasped. Did the guy just floor Rick? The guy was a rock. This guy was the real deal.
Benjamin said "Woah. Who is this guy?"
Alfonso sighed "Your brother won't like it if you interfere. Your risk."
Leo warned "Stop giving opinions I don't want to hear. Back off man." He then looked ahead "Let's get closer and see if I can convince Leandro to move on fast." They approached the court. The circle which was formed in the furthest basketball court possible. Damn it. Once he reached it, Leo noticed that his brother had even locked the court like cage. It was a form of cage fighting. He climbed the fence of course. By then the guy had knocked out so many from the circle. He seemed tired though panting now. He watched his brother take a step forward. The guy was dead now. Leo walked to the circle and curiously looked at the guy in the hoodie. He was quite bulky and athletic. He was the same height as his brother. He sure was going to give him a challenge. But of course his brother couldn't be matched by even this guy since many well known boxers and criminals had trained Leandro to get him so fit and therefore no one came close.
His brother was just about to start his assault. He stood in front of the boy in the hoodie. Leandro said "Do you have a name? I see you are close to Jeanelle. Who is she to you? So if I torture you and hospitalise you I know what name to give her.
The boy sighed. He wasn't going to argue back. He wanted to preserve his focus and energy. He said "Attack me. I defend myself. I have heard of how you fight in these past few hours. I may not be able to beat you but it won't be easy to hospitalise me..."
Leandro started taunting him as he started circling him "What's your name? Come on. Are you afraid to tell me your name? You think I might get it carved on a tombstone? I just want to know what's your relationship with Jenelle. She shouldn't be associating with random strangers."
The boy replied "I could not agree more..." He then got into a fighting stance and tried to tackle Leandro to the ground which he docked.
Leandro gave out a dark chuckle "Try harder. Entertain me."
The boy became wary. He was a good fighter and pretty quick. He tried to punch him but Leandro kicked him away. The boy didn't fall over though which visibly impressed Leandro.
Leandro said "I hand it to you. You can fight. It's such a shame you need discipline on your first day."
The boy sighed "I don't even know why I am being punished. What have I done?"
Leandro narrowed his eyes and threw a punch that he saw coming. He had no choice but to fall on the floor to not get hit. He knew it was over as he looked up at his executor who wanted his blood. He was on the floor about to be kicked and punched to a pulp by the crowd. He knew the rules of this game.
He put his hands up "What have I done? Just tell me."
Leandro said with venom in his voice "You disturbed Jeanelle in the library and ..."
The boy pleaded "I didn't know I wasn't allowed to. It doesn't say in the rule book I can't disturb the librarian on the job. She is my sister...."
Leandro stopped as he was about to instruct the crowd to beat him up "What did you say?"
Just then he heard his brother from behind him "You are Jacob Neuer..."
Leandro turned and saw Leo "Where did you come from? This doesn't concern your area of expertise."
Leo was kneeling on the ground examining an ID card on the ground that Jacob most likely had dropped. He said with admiration "Wow." He then stood up walking to his brother "You can't kill him Leandro. I need him on the football team. He is well known in the south. Without him our team can't win. I have so many injured ones on the bench. Come on Leandro. Cut this new kid a break."
Leandro for the first time wasn't annoyed that his brother had climbed the fence to disrupt his cage fighting sessions. He was glad he was there. He had those moments to take in the information. He had almost beaten up Jean's brother. Almost.
Leandro turned to the boy on the floor who was looking at the boys who were standing around watching their leader awaiting instructions.
Leandro offered his hand to him "Amnesty for today..."
Jacob eyed his hand and took it but he was wary. As he stood up he eyed Leandro "I don't know why I was punished in the first place. Talking to my sister can't be a crime. I disturbed her from doing her job and she came out of the building but is it a death sentence? I just want to make sense of the rules."
Leandro asked "You just broke rule one. You don't question the dean. Since you have taken a beating already I will get my brother to give you a sanction tomorrow in football practice... You can see your sister..."
Jacob said "I don't play football anymore..."
Leandro said "You are now."
Jacob argued "But I choose to do no sports any more... I dropped it."
Leandro said "Big mistake. I amend your records for you..."
Jacob said "I can't. I wish to focus on my studies..."
Leandro said "You will get extra tuition. I will see you at the initiation. You do realise I am logging the questioning that you do, right? You will pay tomorrow for every offence since in the rule book it says not to argue with the Dean..." He then walked away as he said " No one refuses me kid... If this is your final answer you will be on my hit list. I will give you one more chance to change your mind..." He then thought to himself "only because of your sister".
