Chapter Two

The Model

“How could you not call me and tell me that you were ENGAGED?!” Jennifer yelled into my ear through the phone, causing my ear drums to vibrate furiously.

“Geeze! I had no time, since I was with him all weekend. How did you find out anyway?” I questioned just as Robin walked in swinging his iPhone back and forth.

“It was Robin who told you, wasn’t it,” I guessed, narrowing my eyes at him. How dare he tell my best friend that I was engaged before I did!

“Yes! I still can’t believe I didn’t hear you say it, like, on the day!” She exclaimed, once again damaging my ear.

“It’s not my fault that I was too busy doing something else,” I defended only then realising what I had confessed.

“Oh my gosh! You were too busy to call me because you were having sex!” Jennifer giggled

“The correct term is making love actually,” I corrected under my breath, not quietly enough, since Robin’s face scrunched up in disgust.

“Too much information Mel,” Robin stated, opening my office door to leave, making me chuckle.

“You shouldn’t be listening in the first place,” I replied as the door was slammed closed.

“Well were going out to celebrate, without Trevor by the way. Just me, you, Jasmine and you can invite Jessica if she wants to come,” Jennifer insisted

“I’m not sure. I mean, its Monday,” I tried to disagree

“Don’t even try and worm your way out. It’s your fault, if you had just told me on Friday, then we could have done this on Saturday.” Jennifer informed me. Shaking my head, I said the only thing that would make her happy.

“What time?” I groaned, however really wanting to go.

“Yes! I knew you’d agree. We’ll meet you around 8 at your house. I’ll tell Jasmine for you…and by the way, she’s pissed too. Just thought that I should tell you,” Jennifer rushed before cutting the phone on me. Sighing in annoyance, since I had absolutely nothing to wear, I leaned back in my laptop chair and swung around in circles, smiling as the chair got faster and faster.

“You’re such a child.” A stern voice stated causing me to come to a halt as I stared at my boss, who was watching me, emotionless.

“Sorry Mr. Bilgar,” I quickly apologised.

“Ease up, you look scared Miss Zeleny,” Mr Bilgar chuckled and I simply gave him a fake smile. Mr. Bilgar was very intimidating. His olive skin due to his Asian background made his complexion look to die for and the several designer suits that he wore, made him look very profession, but his green, cold eyes made him intimidating and scary, hence my reaction.

“I’ll let you off with the swinging for now since I heard about your engagement. Congratulations but don’t let it get in the way of your work.” He urged, giving me a brief nod and then leaving. I let out a breath that I didn’t even realise that I was holding and almost jumped out of my skin when my phone began vibrating viciously on my desk. Cursing under my breath, a smile immediately found its way onto my lips when I read the caller ID.

Trevor aka Fiancé.

I was now dressed in a fitted, pretty red dress which hugged my body tightly. I had found it in the back of my wardrobe with its price tag still on and was really giddy when I discovered it sitting there. The satin material felt silky smooth against my skin, making me feel comfortable in my choice of clothing. Putting on my silver studded ear rings; I left my hair down and curled it lightly so that I didn’t look too formal or too slutty since the dress was pretty short. Slipping on my black pumps, I picked up my matching black and silver clutch bag and headed for the living room.

“I would totally do you,” Jennifer smirked.

“I have to say, Trevor is very lucky to have you,” Jasmine added, gaping at me from my cream, L shaped sofa.

“I know,” I joked, giving them a twirl. Matter a fact; I was very lucky to have Trevor. He was sweet, caring, strong, tall and all mine. What more could I ask for in a guy?

“What are you guys talking about, I mean, you guys look smoking hot too,” I exclaimed as we headed outside and got inside Jasmine’s car. Jasmine’s dark brown shoulder length hair was curled in big waves, framing her face and dark brown eyes were highlighted with thin, fake, almost natural looking eye lashes. She wore a tight, sleeveless grey dress, with a black blazer, which showed off hour-glass figure also making her lovely chocolate skin glow and the black studded heels made her 5’8 body look at least 5’11. Jennifer’s boy short hair was curled in ringlets on top of her hair, she wore a short, vibrant blue boob-tube dress, showing off her long model legs, her face was lightly painted with make up making her look sweet and innocent, even though the 5 inch heels said otherwise. And I envied her natural tanned skin. I thought that we all looked gorgeous tonight. Sadly, Jessica couldn’t come, but insisted that next time we went out, we should tell her and she would definitely come, if it wasn’t during the week. When we got there, the place was closely packed, the music was blaring as the bass shook the ground beneath me and the heat instantly made me sweat without even moving an inch.

“I’m gonna get us some drinks!” Jennifer yelled over the music before disappearing into the crowd.

“I can’t wait to have fun!” Jasmine shouted, swinging her arms in the air and waving them like she just doesn’t care, which made me laugh. Shaking my head at her, I followed Jennifer’s waving arms, as she called us to the bar. Sitting down on the stall, it wasn’t long before Jennifer was tipsy and Jasmine was almost the same too, after only two drinks.

“Jenni, I think you need to ease up on the shots,” I shouted in her ear, the music making it sound barely like a whisper.

“No! I’m fine and I’m going to dance!” She replied, pushing me away, hopping off the stool and once again pushing her way through the crowd.

“Stop being a boring person. I know you don’t drink but at least come and dance with me,” Jasmine pleaded.

“Na, I think I’m gonna stay here for a while. I don’t feel like dancing yet,” I confessed, placing my elbow onto the table.

“Alright, but your missing out. We came here for you!” Jasmine reminded me and then pulled a random guy to the dance floor with her, who didn’t seem to object. Smiling a bit at the scene in front of me, I turned back around and sipped on my lemonade, tried to ignore the eyes that I could feel were burning into my back. I was now engaged and so could no longer fool around with any other guys, even if it was just for a dance, unless I knew them of course.

Feeling my phone vibrate in my bag, I whipped it out and couldn’t resist the smile that once again formed on my face when I read the text.

Hope your having a terrible time. I’ll speak to you when you come back to mine after the club. Tell Jenni that she’s a freak and should be tested for STI’s and tell Jasmine that I love her.

Hubby to be, Trevor xx

Laughing at the text, I suddenly became too aware of the cool hand that was moving up and down my back.

“I’m engaged,” I shouted, not bothering to turn around to the culprit, guessing that saying I was engaged, should make them go away. Except this wasn’t the case. If anything, it made the person even happier, since I could now feel their cool breath on my neck, which gave me goose bumps.

“I said, I’m engaged so back---,” I growled, turning around in the chair only to cut my sentence short when I saw Stephen. What the hell was he doing here and everywhere I went?!

“Are you stalking me? Cause if you are I will file a complaint to the police,” I informed him, standing up in an attempt to walk away, only for him to side step right back in front of me.

“Will you just leave me alone,” I groaned, slumping my shoulders in aggravation.

“Dance with me and I’ll leave you alone,” Stephen stated simply, his husky, deep voice making my heart skip a beat annoyingly.

“C’mon, just one dance Melanie and I’ll leave you alone.” Stephen begged lifting my chin up so that I could look into his black eyes properly. Just as I felt myself being sucked in, I slapped his hand away and glared at him.

“One and you’ll leave me alone? Just one?” I tried to confirm, even though I knew that I was giving in too easily.

“Just one Melanie,” Stephen whispered in my ear, making me shiver in want.

“Fine, then you’ll leave me alone.” I stated pushing him away and finding somewhere to dance on the dance floor.

“By the way, I’m engaged. Just remember that,” I shouted over my shoulder, just as I spotted Jennifer grinding front wards with a guy, making me change direction. I definitely didn’t want her to see me with Stephen, since she probably remembers him since we too met in College. To tell you the truth, I don’t really know why I said yes. I just couldn’t say no, sadly.

“As if I could forget it. The blinking ring is on your finger,” I thought that I heard Stephen mumble, but I wasn’t sure since the music was so loud.

Birthday Sex came on and I felt old memories flood back into my mind as I heard Stephen chuckle behind me, pulling me close.

“Brings back memories doesn’t it,” He mumbled in my ear causing goose bumps to rise all over my body, once again.

“If you’re gonna bring back unwanted memories, then I’ll leave you right now,” I warned him, seeing him smirk and raise his hands, as if to surrender.

“Fine, fine. Even though it’s not unwanted memories, I won’t do it again,” Stephen agreed. Staring at him directly in the eyes, even in the narrowed lights, I could see that he was telling the truth. Rolling my eyes at him, he spun me around gently and pulled my waist to his, guiding us to the song.I felt his tongue glide along my neck and sucked in a breath as my heart beat accelerated and my desire for him built up once again.

“Stop. Stop!” I whispered, pushing him away and running into the crowd, barging into Jasmine in the process.

“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Jasmine asked as water spilt over my eyes and I busted into tears. What was I doing?

----------I

My first party in college, two weeks in! Whooo! I was so excited!! I was going to the party with my roommate Jennifer and her high school friend Jasmine. They were both really cute and friendly girls, who I didn’t mind spending time with and was sure that we would still be friends in the future. I wore a hot pink top and a black body con skin, plain  black heels and my black blazer so that I could look casual, smart.

“You look sexy! Now let’s go,” Jennifer exclaimed, grabbing me and Jasmine by our hands and dragging us out of the room.

“What about the room key?!” I yelled in panic. I hadn’t even taken my phone!

“I’ve got it, don’t panic. We’re already like two hours late. We might have missed loads of things,” Jennifer stated making me slightly scared. What could we have missed? A fight? Something smashing? Girl’s making out? I had no clue what she was talking about and I kind of didn’t want to know. When we go to the party, which was on the other side of the campus, Jennifer disappeared, leaving only I and Jasmine together.

“I guess it’s just us two left,” Jasmine smiled, linking arms with me.

“Yeah, I guess it is,” I agreed, running a hand through my straight down hair. Looking at my wrist, I realised that I was still wearing the luminous rubber band which Stephen had given me and wondered if he would appear. It had been three weeks since we met and I hadn’t even tried it out, since I always found him somewhere. He was a really good, down to earth guy which was what I liked about him, other than his looks.

“Look who it is,” I heard him whisper in my ear causing me to shiver in a good way. What it meant, I had no idea. Turning to my free side, I saw him standing there, looking as sexy as ever. He wore a simple black Ralph Lauren polo shirt, jeans and matching trainers which was casual, but made his beauty stand out.

“Who’s he?” Jasmine whispered in my other ear.

“Oh, Stephen, this is Jasmine one of my friends. Jasmine, meet Stephen one of my other friends,” I laughed, noticing Jasmine giving him the flirty eyes which other girls around us were doing too. Maybe I wasn’t the only one physically attracted to him then. For some reason, this made me upset, but I pushed the feeling to the back of my mind.

“It’s nice meeting you Jasmine,” Stephen said, kissing her hand softly as he had done to me. He was such a flirt! Maybe he didn’t even like me.

“Do you mind if I snatch your friend away from you for while?” Stephen questioned Jasmine politely.

“No, go ahead,” Jasmine answered sarcastically.

“Thanks,” Stephen replied, holding my hand and towing me away.

“You know that she was being sarcastic right?” I questioned laughing as he zigzagged us through the other drunken students.

“Yes, but she said yes, so I thought that I could take you anyway,” Stephen chuckled, tightening his hand around mine as we went through a group of guys who whistled at someone.

Birthday Sex came on and everyone started making noise which made Stephen chuckle.

“Do you wanna dance?” He asked me, leaning on one of the walls which other couples were making out on, making me a bit uncomfortable.

“Don’t worry, I wont bite,” Stephen assured me, smiling cutely, showing his one dimple.

“Alright," I agreed. Why not? Turning around, I felt his cool hands on either side of my waist, holding me in place before we slowly started grinding to the song. His hips moved with mine easily, showing me that he was a good dancer, if you could call it that. Near the end of the song, he spun me around, causing us to grind front wards as his dark eyes held mine. Before I knew what was happening, his lips found mine and I was surprised at myself when I kissed him back. It was definitely too soon. I have only  known him for a week. I wasn't one of these girls!

If I wasn't then why wasn't I pushing him away? Why did it feel so good? Why did I want it to last forever? Why was I talking to myself instead of enjoying it more?!

“I haven’t kissed anyone before,” I blurted out stupidly against his lips.

“Well I’m glad I was the first,” Stephen replied huskily and then placed his soft, full lips back on mine, gently, making my whole body warm up as my heart beat accelerated.
