Chapter Thirty Two

“Where do you want to go?” Stephen asked as he helped me into his car.

“Anywhere, I don’t mind,” I shrugged before he walked towards the driver’s side.

“Okay...” Stephen started, strumming his fingers on the steering wheel whilst seeming to think about where to take me.

“Let’s go somewhere fun,” Stephen decided, grinning happily just when the car roared to life. His smile gave me butterflies and even after a week of seeing them, since college, I knew that I would never get tired of it.

Since the day after the party, when Stephen took me to lunch, we had stayed in contact, speaking until the morning for the past week just like college. I had never been happier repairing out relationship.

We had been driving for over an hour with the radio playing softly in the background whilst I read a book on my phone and I was just getting to the best part of the story.

“We’re here,” Stephen whispered in my ear, his cool breath tickling my ear as he placed a cold hand on my knee which caused my breathing to stop. Looking away from my phone, my eyes were captured by his dark ones and I noticed that his lips were dangerously close to mine.

“Okay,” I breathed looking up to see that we were parked outside of an amusement park. Six flags to be specific.

“What are we doing here?” I frowned, confused. The last time that I had been to an amusement park was with everyone during our summer vacation in college.

“We’re here to have fun, so stop frowning and lets go,” Stephen informed me, taking off his seat belt before helping me out of the car.

“I know this is our first date and all but I was kind of expecting something more, I don’t know, a bit more...” I began, struggling to find the words.

“Elegant?” Stephen finished as he paid for our tickets.

“Well yeah. You said it, I didn’t,” I added.

“Starting again means new ways of doing things Melanie, so welcome to Six Flags!” He introduced, pulling me through the entrance. I couldn’t help but smile at the fact that he had actually thought about it.

“Where to first my lady?” Stephen questioned, holding the map of the park open in front of us.

“How about we start off small. Let’s go on this one,” I suggested, pointing to a rollercoaster ride that didn’t look too horrifying. Following the map, we made it to the queue and I began to regret my decision even though I felt my excitement kicking in.

“You can choose where we’re going next, but choose wisely because you know that I’ll kill you if you’re mean and choose a deadly one,” I threatened.

“Did you forget that I’m already deadly?” Stephen reminded me, his long sharp fangs that had given me immeasurable pleasure now on display.

“Put those away Stephen! What if someone see’s?” I hissed, slapping his shoulder whilst glancing around to see if anyone was staring at us.

“Calm down Melanie. No one saw.” Stephen stated, his teeth now back to normal. I realised that it was time for us to board the ride and felt my heart go into overdrive as we walked towards the seats and were strapped in.

“Melanie, you’ll be fine, it didn’t even look that bad,” Stephen comforted, taking my hand in his making my whole body heat up due to his touch. Confused as to how he knew that I was scared, reading my face, he smiled and placed his hand over his heart, showing a fast beating rhythm. He had heard my heart, how could I forget? Suddenly we were thrown forward as we ascended up the rollercoaster. Stephen simply laughed at me whilst screaming,

“Woo Hoo!” I, on the other hand, gripped onto his hand for dear life whilst squeezing my eyes shut with my breath stuck in my throat. When we finally came to a stop, I was extremely grateful.

“I had almost forgotten how scared you were of rides, but after what I’ve just experienced, I don’t think that I’ll ever forget again,” Stephen chuckled huskily, his black eyes twinkling amusement.

“You’re being mean. Don’t laugh at me,” I pouted walking through the exit.

“You kill me when you do that...” Stephen groaned, his thumb softly rubbing against my lips, leaving a tingling sensation before they were hastily snatched away.

“Let’s go and play some games,” Stephen mumbled, intertwining our fingers without looking at me as he dragged me along, leaving me confused when he refused to meet my eyes.

“One dollar for three darts. If you can get them in the red circle then you can choose one of these stuffed bears for your beautiful lady,” the stall man flirted much to Stephen’s discomfort. Slapping a dollar onto the table angrily, with his jaw tightened, Stephen was handed three darts by the middle aged man who kept a smug grin on his thin lips. In a second, Stephen had thrown all three darts right in the middle, leaving both I and the stall man surprised.

“Which one would you like Melanie?” Stephen whispered huskily into my ear, his arm now wrapped around my waist, pulling our bodies close and allowing me to smell his delicious cologne.

“Umm...” I struggled, not able to speak since my body began to tingle and my head began to feel light headed.

“I think she’ll have that one,” Stephen decided for me, a small smirk on his lips, which only turned me on even more.He had chosen the most adorable teddy bear and I squealed as the man handed it to me.

“Thank you, it’s adorable,” I smiled, giving him a soft kiss on his cheek.

“Excuse me, could you please please win me one of those teddy bears please!” A toothless little girl pleaded, her hazel eyes lighting up as she tugged on Stephen’s trousers sweetly.

“Where’s your mum gorgeous?” Stephen bent down to her height, glancing around.

“Mona! Don’t you ever run away like that again!” A panicked woman shrieked, her hand brushing her short black hair out of her eyes before she picked up the little girl, who I guessed was her daughter.

“She wanted me to get her a teddy bear, which I would be more than honoured to do, for this little princess. If it’s okay with you of course.” Stephen explained a handsome smile on his lips.

“Oh well, if you don’t mind.” The woman stated, flushed as her brown eyes stared at Stephen whilst I watched from behind him.

“Melanie do you mind?” Stephen asked to my surprise causing everyone’s eyes to suddenly focus on me.

“No, knock yourself out,” I smiled, shrugging as I held my teddy bear in my arms.

“Yay!” The little girl cheered in her mother’s arms. They all walked towards the stool and seemed to be arguing about who was going to pay. Admiring Stephen from behind, I wondered what a wonderful father he would be. Just then, a sick feeling sunk into my stomach as I remembered how close I was to being a mother before I... The park began to close around me and all I heard were the voices of children. I needed to get out of there and so turning around, I walked as fast as I could, to be anywhere but there.

Finding a bench in the parking lot, I placed my head between my legs after setting my teddy bear beside me and took deep breaths in and out. I needed to calm down before I met up with Stephen again. Just when I thought of him, I felt my phone vibrating in my jeans pocket. Pulling it out, with my head still between my legs, I answered my phone shakily.

“Melanie where are you? I’ve been looking around for half an hour trying to find you! What the hell happened?” Stephen panicked, causing my heart to fall into my stomach. I had made him scared and he had looked for me for half an hour.

“Melanie are you there? Are you hurt or anything because if you are I will kill whoever ---,” Stephen growled, his breathing heavy.

“I’m here. I just...when I saw the little girl it reminded me of...I just needed some air,” I whispered feeling my eyes beginning to sting.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t even think. Tell me where you are and I’ll take you home,” I heard Stephen sigh.

“I’m at the car park.” I replied before he cut the call. Feeling calm since I knew that he would be with me soon, I lifted my head up but stopped when my eyes landed on a pair of blue eyes that were watching me from across the parking lot. The man was tall and looked pretty young. He looked just like...Trevor. As though he realised what I had thought, the man turned around and walked off, pulling his hat further down. It wasn’t him, it couldn’t have been him I forced myself to believe whilst watching the man disappear into a car that had a women and child in it. It wasn’t him.

Standing up, I noticed Stephen walking towards me before I was enveloped into a tight hug, tight enough to feel every part of him toned chest as he lifted me up as well in the process.

“Don’t ever scare me like that again Melanie and I won’t ever make that mistake again Melanie. I can’t apologise enough,” Stephen stated, still squeezing me slightly too tightly.

“Stephen it’s not your fault. It was my fault that I lost the baby in the first place anyway. I just, I’d forgotten for a second.” I said wrapping my arms around his neck as my feet dangled. Being so close to him put me at ease and I didn’t want it to end.

“Melanie I don’t know what I’ll have to do to show you that it wasn’t your fault but I’ll do whatever it takes. For now, let’s get out of here and get something to eat.” Stephen instructed, placing me back on my feet to my disappointment. Grabbing my teddy bear off the bench, he led us back to the car and helped me into it.

Stephen took me to a diner close to my house where we ate lunch and stayed until it was dark, reminiscing on college years which made me forget about any of my problems.

“Thanks for today Stephen. I really appreciate it and it was a great first date,” I smiled as Stephen walked me towards the front door like a gentleman.

“That’s fine and once again I’m really sorry about earlier on. I wasn’t thinking,” Stephen apologised for the hundredth time.

“You really need to stop saying sorry.” I stated, placing a finger over his lips so that he would stop speaking. He slowly took my hand away from his mouth whilst staring deeply into my eyes, taking me back into our world. I hadn’t even noticed how close he had moved until his lips brushed against mine. He sighed in me before pressing his lips firmly against mine. The tingles that his body was giving mine made it hard for me to respond and I stood frozen.

“Melanie kiss me,” Stephen whispered as he kissed me again. His hoarse voice was all I needed to make me lose it. My fingers tangled in his hair as his tongue met mine and I let out a moan when a fire that had been dormant since he broke my heart reignited. He pulled me even closer, crushing me into his body as his hand wrapped around my hair, deepening our kiss as his tongue stroked mine softly and slowly. His lips left mine, as I gasped for air, wanting to taste his minty flavour again. He left a trail of hot kisses along my jaw before lifting me up against the door so that my legs were wrapped him allowing me to feel his stiff shaft pressed against my entrance. We had never been this intimate and I was definitely enjoying this side of him. He growled lowly causing me to gasp before his lips were once again pressed against mine, taking my breath away as he kissed me slowly and deeply allowing me to feel his love for me whilst I tried to show him mine too. He once again left my swollen lips deciding to kiss along my neck this time, his chest rising and falling almost as quickly as mine. His sharp teeth grazed along my neck before he pierced the skin, surprising me since usually he asked but I couldn’t complain when the feeling of ecstasy returned and my head moved backwards, allowing him more access as moans escaped from my lips. His teeth pulled out of my neck and with a swift lick on that spot, Stephen set me back on my feet and turned without saying a word. Baffled, all I could do was watch him as he got into his car and sped away.

Two weeks had passed since I and Stephen’s first date and I was beginning to wonder what the hell had happened. He had texted me the next morning apologising for yesterday and saying that we needed some time apart even though we were just getting back together. I had stayed locked in my room for the whole day crying and wondering what I had done wrong once again. I couldn’t handle being alone, without him, again. He had broken his promise. He left me alone, by myself, after he had insisted that he would never do that.

I was on my way home from work when I saw someone who looked like him across the road. Staring straight ahead and not caring if I was in anyone’s way, I looked closely and noticed that it was indeed him. His mahogany head of hair was messy as always but his dark eyes weren’t directed at me but at a woman who looked a couple of years older than him. Her gorgeous emerald green eyes shone as she pulled him into a hug and kissed him on his lips whilst her black hair bounced as it fell in wavy curls to her mid back. Stephen had just kissed her back with as much enthusiasm as she had and I couldn’t help the anger that flew through my body. As if he had seen, or even heard my heart beat accelerate, he looked around but I didn’t wait for him to spot me. Calling a cab quickly, just when he stood up and spotted me, probably with watery eyes, I quickly hopped into it and told him my address before switching off my phone knowing that he would call. If he had found someone else he could have simply told me instead of leading me on...
