Chapter 40 You Are Mistaken
The unlocking of the safety catch was heard very clearly in the small room.
He laughed coldly. âI will put away all the ones who canât be controlled or pose a threat to me. If you thought that I wonât bear to kill you because your little seduction game has made me interested in you, Iâm afraid I have to disappoint you.â
Jarrett said this while hoping to see panic and despair on Calistaâs face.
He had come all the way here prepared to kill her! She was way too mysterious and impossible to control, and she knew too much about the Sinclairs. So even if he ended up offending Kallum, Calista had to die!
But everyone knew how much Kallum hated Calista. So saving her the last time was probably merely out of his sense of righteousness and responsibility.
Calista merely laughed.
This unexpected reaction made Jarrett frown, and when her beautiful sparkling eyes looked up at him, Jarrett suddenly felt his breathing stopâ¦
Then suddenly his hand was in great pain! A needle was stuck on the back of his hand, making his hand go numb instantly. The gun landed on the sofa, and Jarrett immediately made a grab for it with his other hand, but Calista grabbed his hand and pulled hard, flipping him over and then used her body weight to press him down on the sofa.
Now the barrel of the gun was on Jarrettâs head.
Jarrett had clearly underestimated his opponent â he did not expect that Calistaâs needles were able to do something like this.
Calista used the gun to whack his head very hard twice before she calmed down. âMr. Sinclair, this is what you did to me the last time, how does it feel?â
Jarrettâs forehead had turned red from the impact, and his glasses had fallen to one side, revealing his long and cold eyes, staring icily at Calista.
âYouâve got several tricks up your sleeve.â
Calista laughed, âWho doesnât have an ultimate move?â
She continued to point the gun at him, and used her other hand to pinch Jarrettâs face, and said maliciously, âAlso, you said I donât understand you at all. Thatâs true, because I donât need to.â
An evil smile spread across her face. âIf you choose to be obedient, then listen to everything I say. If you choose to be disobedient, then Iâm going to make your life hell until you become obedient! So why should I understand you?â
She was pinching him very hard, as if Jarrettâs face was a piece of dough for kneading!
Jarrett was thoroughly humiliated, âBloody hell! Let go of my face!â
Calista pretended that she didnât hear anything and used even more force to pinch him! In her previous life she could only see this man from afar, so since she had the chance this time round, she wanted to

She clicked her tongue as she praised him. âMr. Sinclair, your skincare routine is not bad huh, your face is pretty soft.â
Jarrett struggled for a while but just couldnât get out of Calistaâs grip. His anger had reached boiling point, and his eyes were staring daggers at her now.
âCalista, donât you consider the consequences of your actions?â
The Sinclairs were a family that the Staffords needed to respect! How dare she!
Calista smiled calmly, and the hand that was kneading his face just patted his face and she looked down at him. âThe consequences is merely death, and death is merelyâ¦â
There was a tinge of loneliness in that unfinished sentence, and it somehow managed to pause Jarrettâs
anger.
But Calista had gotten up.
âOk, end of fun and games.
She placed the gun gently on the table and glared at Jarrett in irritation before she coldly said, âIf you dare to point a gun at me again, Iâll incapacitate your hand! Every time you point it at me, Iâll incapacitate a limb! And I mean what I say!â
This bold threat stunned Jarrett who had managed to sit up.
He should have gotten furious, stood up and taught her a lesson!
But strangely enough, after seeing the malice in her eyes, that cruel description made him feel excited.
What on earth was he excited about? Did he look forward to Calista shooting one of his limbs?
He looked away from her awkwardly, trying to wipe those weird thoughts out of his mind.
The gun was right in front of him, but he no longer wished to use it now. He had to admit that he couldnât bear for this woman to die.
Seeing that Jarrett had calmed down, Calista continued drying her hair, as if everything that happened was but a dream. âBack to the original topic. I gave you top secret information and saved you an internal conflict within the family. I want five million for it, transfer it to my account. Any objections?â
Jarrett pursed his lips and didnât say anything.
After struggling in his mind for a while, his heart finally decided that since he couldnât bear to see her die, then the only option was to cooperate.
He clenched his teeth and said, âNo objections, money is not a problem. I just want to ask you about my brotherâs illness â are you really confident of treating him? The remuneration will definitely be satisfactory!â
Calista was surprised that his attitude had changed completely, but didnât ask further.
âI more or less understand your brotherâs illness, so I will look for you in a while. Now is not the right time.â

Then when is the right time?â
âWhen my mood is better.â
Calistaâs words stirred up the anger in Jarrettâs heart again, and he burst out laughing. âMs. Stafford really has a way of making people die from anger with your words, not sure if youâre as sharp in bed,â
âIt doesnât matter, you wonât get to experience it.â
âWhy not give it a try?â Jarrett stood up. âPerhaps after youâve tried youâd end up falling in love with me.â
Calista laughed. âDonât worry, Iâm completely devoted to Kallum. The door is that way, I wonât see you
out.â
Jarrett felt the sarcasm in her smile. Forget it then going to snatch a woman who liked someone
else.
He wasnât
He laughed coldly and turned to leave, but the moment he opened the door he came face to face with an equally quizzical Kallum.
At that moment, Jarrett finally experienced a sour and bitter feeling in his heart. Of all people to like, why did Calista like Kallum?
âCongratulations, Mr. Kallum. Your fiancée is 100% loyal to you. Donât forget to send me your wedding invitation.
Kallum snapped back to reality and smiled, scanning Jarrett with a dangerous look on his face and said unhappily. âSince Mr. Sinclair knows that Calista is mine, please stay further away from her. Youâve barged into her house today, and I hope I wonât catch you doing this again. I hope you understand what Iâm trying
to say.â
Jarrettâs face started turning nasty and he almost couldnât keep the smile on his face. He clenched his teeth and said, âRelax, Iâm here to talk about my brother. I have no interest in Calista!â
That would be best.â
The two men stared each other down for a few moments, and then Jarrett took large strides out. Now he knew, these two were purposely going up against him!
When Calista heard that Kallum had come as well, she started laughing inside. What auspicious day was it? Why were there so many uninvited guests?
After Kallum had made Jarrett leave angrily, his mood suddenly changed for the better. Before coming he still had mixed feelings, but after he heard Calista say that she was devoted to him, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
He knew it â Calista still liked him! After all, how could she just wipe away her feelings after liking him for
so many years?
So even though Kallum restrained himself on the surface, his heart was no longer confused and he did not hide his desire any longer.
Indeed, he had thought about it for very long, but finally decided to face up to his feelings for Calista.
Calista was his first woman, so his body was unable to resist her. To put it simply, he had a desire for her,
