Chapter 42: Chapter 38

The Luna's AwakeningWords: 22366

"You have to let me go, I have to find Kian!" I shouted to the hunter guards.

"I'm afraid we can't do that. Our orders are to protect you." One of them shouted over the noise of bullets from outside.

"I can help you. They are after me!" But it was no use they wouldn't listen to me.

I turned to the Doc. "May, you have to take my collar off. I can't protect myself with this thing." It was the first time I had addressed her by her name. She looked at me, her eyes wide with hesitance. She seemed for once frightened and so fragile.

"N-no, I can't. Jackson will get mad at me if you escape." She looked at the floor in disbelief. She was going into shock and she looked like she wanted to cry as she clutched her papers to her chest.

I had to go find Kian. He could be in trouble.

The door bust open and a man dressed in hunter gear ran in but a vampire grabbed him by his ankle causing him to fall as the vampire pulled him back outside to the corridor. The man's gurgling screams could be heard outside.

One of my body guard hunters recognised the man and ran after him in attempt to save him but it was no use, because another vampire lunged at him from the side.

"No!" Shouted the other guard as he shot the vampires killing a couple who tried to come inside. He leaned against the door trying to keep it closed as Vampires tried to push it open.

The hunters were loosing. I had to do something. Otherwise we would be ambushed.

I ran up next to the guard and helped him keep the door closed.

The guard grabbed his walkie talkie with one hand, turning it on. "Hunter Malek on the line here, we need back up! I repeat all available units we need back up to the Doc's room. We are being ambushed by vampires! I repeat-" suddenly the line went dead. The guard -Malek, cursed under his breathe.

"Malek you have to take my collar off! I can't shift or use my abilities if I have this thing on."

He looked down at me, eyes wide with fear as both of us continued to keep the door closed.

"Please," I whispered. "Let me save them."

He nodded in agreement. He rummaged in his pocket for the control to my collar.

Another nearby explosion shook the building.

Malek held the control to my neck as he typed in a code on the remote. It made a loud beep sound before unclipping and falling to the ground.

I felt my wolf inside howl in happiness at our freedom. I let out a sigh as I touched my neck no longer feeling the harsh metal.

I looked up at him grateful, "Thankyou."

He nodded.

"I need you to tell me where they are keeping Kian."

"He's on the South wing on the 3rd floor." He replied grunting as he held the door.

I was in Alpha mode now. "Ok, I need you to go help the Doc out and take her to safety. When you get the chance, run and help your friends."

"What are you going to do?" He asked.

I took a step back from the door and away from him.

I felt my eyes start glowing as they changed.

"I'm going to clear the way for you." I replied my voice starting to sound distorted as my wolf surfaced.

And for the first time in what felt like forever I shifted into my wolf form.

I let out a snarl and roar of freedom. I felt euphoric as my powers flowed through my body.

A flash of fear was seen in Malek's eyes as he put his free hand to his gun. He looked up at me probably not expecting me to be so large.

I looked down at him showing him I was not his enemy, purring slightly. Then I looked back at the Doc who was rummaging for her papers or something. I indicated to him to go to the Doc. He seemed to understand and moved out of my way.

I bent down, muscles tense, my body preparing for a fight. The doors swung open and three vampires ran in. They had a crazy blood hungry look on their pale faces.

I lunged at both of them sinking my teeth into their flesh and turning them to ash in seconds.

I heard nearby gunshots from outside.

"Do not shoot the wolf I repeat do not shoot the wolf! It is the girl!" I heard Malek shout into his walkie talkie he must of fixed.

Seconds later the shooting immediately stopped.

Once I was outside in the corridor I checked the coast was clear I let out a bark to Malek and May. They seemed to understand because soon enough I saw their head peak out the door and make their way to safety.

I took the chance to run.

I sprinted down the corridor towards the South wing.

I ran into lots of vampires on the way who I was able to kill easily. I saw a hunter on the floor struggling with a vampire on top of him and so as I ran passed him I grabbed the vampire by the neck and threw him against the wall. He quickly turned to ash.

The hunter looked up at me in surprise but I continued down the wing towards the South wing.

Suddenly as I turned the corner I crashed into a large black thing. I let out a yelp.

The familiar smell hit me first and before I knew it. I shifted back to my human self without hesitation and he did too.

"Kian!" I shouted relieved and happily as I hugged him.

He let out a deep chuckle as he held me tightly against him.

His presence and smell soothed me and my wolf.

"I see you're still as hard headed as ever." He teased, rubbing his head, making me smile.

"How did you get out?" I noticed he didn't have his collar on either.

"Jackson gave the hunters watching over me orders to release me. He knew I would come after you to protect you. Especially after someone over the line report that they needed back up where you were."

Malek's report through the walkie talkie.

"Yes, my hunter, he set me free because we were surrounded and I was their only way out."

The sound of hissing echoed around the walls.

"We need to get out of here." Kian said eyes sharp as he looked around.

"What about the Hunters. We need to help them." I urged.

"Why, just so they can lock us up again?" He said his eyes dark now.

"No, if we leave them here they will all die. I can't let that happen."

"Lara if you leave the vampires will leave too."

He was probably right about that.

"Ok fine." I said giving in.

"There's an underground tunnel that leads us outside." Kian said grabbing my hand and leading the way.

I heard gunshots from a distance, followed by vampires snarling and hissing.

As we ran down flights of stairs the sounds from the battle upstairs faded away.

Kian lead the way around the building. He seemed to know where he was going which was surprising.

"This way. I know there is an escape route only a few of the high ranking hunters know about."

"How do you know this?" I asked

"I overheard Jackson talking about it to Tyler and Lexi. I may have also stole one of their blueprints of the building at one point." He said glancing back to wink at me mischievously.

"You know that could of gotten us in a lot of trouble! We need to gain the hunter's trust they could be useful to us. They won't trust us if they catch us snooping around."

He stopped almost causing me to run straight into his hard muscly back.

He turned around to look down at me, his eyes full of seriousness. "Lara we can't trust these people. They are Hunter's. They kill our kind." He said, suddenly his eyes dark with distaste towards them.

His demeanour changed to something dark.

Sensing his wolf close to the surface I placed a calming hand on his chest, hopping my touch would calm him down.

"Kian, I understand that, but not all Hunters are bad. Some of them fight for the good and aren't going around killing every supernatural they see. These people here in this organisation strive to help for the greater good. We need more people like that in this world."

He looked deep into my eyes and I tried my best not to look away. It was almost a dominance stare down. And my wolf felt challenged just as his did.

"If we can show the hunters that we are not a threat to them. Then maybe.. maybe we can work together to stop the vampires." I argued.

At this point I surprised myself because I was now voicing my own thoughts that had been lingering in the back of my mind.

Kian seemed taken aback by my suggestion.

"Hunters and werewolves working together has never happened before." He said in a cold yet surprised tone.

"Well right now we need all the help we can get with the number of vampires expanding."

Suddenly Kian eyes widened as he looked somewhere in the distance behind me.

He grabbed my hand shoving me behind him protectively.

At first I was confused but then I heard it. The echos footsteps.

I inhaled tried to identify the scent. It wasn't a vampire's smell.

Jackson, the hunter leader, emerged from around the corner.

When he saw us he seemed surprised.

"Stay back" Kian growled warningly as he stood infront of me.

To our surprise Jackson held his hands up as a way of showing us he wasn't here to hurt us.

"Calm down. I'm not here to stop you."

I felt Kian's grip on my hand relax a bit.

Jackson took our silence as a way continuing. "Up there our battle is lost. The vampires blocked our access to our weapons area. With out our advanced weapons we don't have much of an advantage against them. Our best bet is that if you two get out of here they will leave us." He said. He seemed exhausted as if he hadn't slept in ages.

"What are you doing down here then? Are you running away?" I asked him sceptically. I didn't take the commander to be that type.

"Of course not. I'm just coming down here to check on my father and protect him. He is unwell and not able to protect himself. If I'm here with him at least I can protect him." He replied pointing to one of the doors just a few meters away.

The conversation between me and the Doc flashed in my mind.

Suddenly the sound of static coming from Jackson's walkie talkie echoed around us as it came to life.

"Commander Jackson! *static* On the..*static* premises!" The voice kept trying to say something but the signal kept cutting out.

Jackson quickly grabbed his walkie-talkie. "Hunter, repeat it again. Your signal is cutting out." He said into his communicator.

Suddenly the voice was now loud and clear.

The next few words were not what I was expecting to hear at all.

"There are werewolves inside the premises! They seem to be attacking the vampires. There's also a witch amongst them. What are your order sir?" The man shouted.

No way

It was my pack! They had found me.

Happiness and relief flooded through me.

Jackson looked up at us as if to ask if we knew these wolves.

I stepped in front of Kian.

"Don't hurt them! They are my pack. They are here to help. They must be looking for us!" I said to him.

Jackson nodded at me before responding to the man through his microphone. "Don't hurt the wolves or the witch. They are with the girl. They are her pack."

"Understood sir."

I opened my mind link to try and find Nick's link.

'Nick! Nick can you hear me?!'

My heart was pumping loudly in my ears as I waited anxiously for a response.

'Lara?' His voice was loud and clear in my mind. I let out a relieved laugh.

'Nick! It's so good to hear your voice. Where are you?'

'We are on the second level. Where are you?' How are you talking to me. I though the hunters blocked you out.'

'It's a long story. I'm safe, I'm with Kian. Please don't hurt any of the hunters. They have been given orders from Jackson to not harm you.'

'Jackson? What Lara I don't understand. Aren't they the enemy?'

'No! They are good. They need our help against the vampires. So please help them. I'll come find you!'

I felt him hesitate, but he agreed. 'Ok, I'll let the others know.'

Then there was silence.

I looked at Jackson. "My pack will help your people. If you promise not to hurt them and not to lock them up after." I said in all seriousness.

"You have my word." He replied.

I turned to Kian. I could tell he could read my mind, his eyes looked clouded as I was sure he was also communicating with members from his pack. "We have to go find them Kian." He nodded.

"But first there's something I must do." I added, turning from Kian back to the commander.

"Lara what are you doing?" Kian asked.

"I have to help someone. I believe this will help us with our fight against the vampire king."

Kian looked into my eyes hard, sensing I was about to do something he didn't approve of.

"Lara I don't understand." He spoke in my mind.

"Trust me."

I turned to look at Commander Jackson.

"I need you to take me to you father. I can save him."

Commander Jackson looked at me shocked and confused but he must of seen I was being serious so he nodded.

He pointed to a door that was two metres to my left.

"He's in there."

"I can help him but I need you to stay out here. I need to go in alone."

"No-"

"Trust me. I only want to save him." I assured him, using my True Luna tone. He clenched his jaw but agreed, his wolf uneasy at being told what to do.

"Wait outside." I told Kian. As I walked to the door and slipped inside.

I closed the door behind me.

I knew I had to be quick because my pack needed me.

But I had a feeling that helping the Commander who be a step forward to forming an alliance.

When I walked in, closing the door behind me, I saw the frail older man laying on the bed asleep on a hospital bed in the middle of the small room.

His body looked so fragile, and I could sense that he was close to deaths door. His thin grey hair and worn down skin made him look so delicate.

I walked towards his bed.

He seemed to sense my presence and opened his eyes slightly. But even that looked hard for him.

I was surprised though when he smiled up at me, as if he new me and was happy to see me.

"I knew you would come." He said quietly.

"You knew?"

"She told me I would have a visitor soon, an angel.... A she wolf." He said just before he started to cough a bit.

"She said it was all part of the plan, that I had to be patient. The girl shinned like the moon." He said as he look past me as if reliving a memory."

He's talking about the moon goddess. said the True luna's voice in my head.

She knew I would come?

Seems like it. You were right about doing this then Lara.

"I'm going to help you. It might seem weird but trust me. It will heal you. Jackson needs you."

He nodded still smiling at me.

I felt my canines extended as I brought my wrist to my mouth and bit down until I felt blood in my mouth.

I held up my wrist to his mouth and the blood started to drip.

I nodded to him. "Drink."

He did as I told and placed his mouth to my wrist.

This was going to be the first step to an alliance. I knew I was right.

•

Kian and I left the commander with his father, we ran back the same way we came from.

I had told the commander that his father was going to be okay and he seemed confused but didn't question me and let us go.

Alarms where going off in the distance.

They were here ... all of them. I could feel the pack bond clear as ever. All their connections like imaginary strings connecting to me.

I could now feel Nick and I's bond.

He was here

Nick

I had missed him so much.

The night of the last time we were together flashed in my mind. The night I chose Kian over him.

A part of me wondered if he was still mad at me.

I heard a yelp in the distance. Down the corridor a few meters ahead of me was Jade, my best friend in her wolf form as she fought against two vampires latched onto her.

When she turned them to ash, her ears pricked up and then her head popped up as if she had caught a smell. My smell.

"Jade!" I shouted in relief. I ran up to her.

She shifted into her human form.

"Lara!!" We embraced in a tight hug both of us laughing.

"I've been so worried about you! Did they hurt you. What did they do to you?" She said as she grabbed my face, moving it side to side as she examined me.

I laugh. "No, I'm fine. For most of the time they were ok to me." I decided not to tell her about the electric collar for now.

She narrowed her eyes at me knowing I wasn't telling her everything.

"I'll explain later. Where are the others?" I ask her.

"Nick told us he was going to clear the top floor with Rick and Colleen. Kian's members went to clear the ground floor."

"Kian?" Said an all too familiar female voice.

We all turned around. It was Ben and Rosie. Two of Kian's closest pack mates.

Ben was his second and also his best friend.

Where as Rosie, well last time I saw Rosie was that night when she was all flirty with Nick at the club before we got taken.

A few more of Kian's pack mates followed behind them.

"Ben! Rosie!" Kian said embracing them.

'Nick where are you right now?'  I said to him though mind link.

'I'm with Colleen and Rick in the headquarters. Colleen says she has a plan. Where are you?' He replied.

'Ok we are coming to you, stay there.'

"Jade, the others are in the headquarters. Nick says Colleen has a plan."

"Ok lets go meet them then." She said, agreeing.

I informed Kian and the others and they agreed.

....

When we made it to the headquarters upstairs I saw Rick, Colleen and Nick there working with a couple of hunters. To my surprise Lexi and Tyler, the two hunters, were here too giving out orders.

I was relieved to see the Doc and the guard- Malek, here safe.

Nick sensed me as soon as I entered the room and I was engulfed in a giant hug before I could even register.

I felt safe in his arms. Our Protector and True Luna bond once again connecting our feelings and emotions to each other. I could feel his relief and happiness flowing through the bond just as I knew he could probably feel mine.

"You have no idea how worried I've been these past days. Not knowing if you were safe. It was driving me insane." He whispered into my ear, as he hugged me tighter.

When he released me, I smiled up at him. "I was worried too. I'm sorry about how I had to force you that night as well..." I said looking down, feeling a little nervous suddenly as I remembered the night Kian and I were taken.

Sensing my feelings, he put his had on my shoulder and when I looked up at him he didn't show any sign of anger towards me.

"Don't worry. I'm just glad you're safe." However, I definitely didn't miss the twitch in his jaw which he tried to hide.

We were interrupted when Colleen came over, "Oh Lara, dear! I'm glad you're safe. Everyone has been so worried!"

I smiled at her. I had missed her. "Don't worry I'm ok" I said laughing as I hugged her.

"Sorry it took us so long kiddo" Rick said coming up from behind her to give me a hug.

"Rick! How did you guys managed to find me?" I asked them.

"You're clue gave us a massive hint. With the help of the witches from my coven we were able to track you. We saw this vampire attack as a way of getting in to get you and Kian out."

"What we didn't expect was that you were on the same side as the Hunters in this fight." Said Nick this time as he came to stand along side of me. "Are you sure we can trust them, Lara?" he asked hesitant.

This time suddenly Tyler called out, seeming to overhear our conversation.

"I could be asking you the same question. If it were my call, I wouldn't be so trusting. Consider yourself lucky Jackson called the order." Tyler said walking up to us. He was ever so harsh and distrusting with us.

"Relax Tyler. The enemy of my enemy is a friend. Jackson must of had good reason if he called the order." Lexi said trying to cool him down.

"Lexi's right. Look as much as you hate my kind right now, you need our help to win this fight." I said to him.

"We can trust her, sir. She helped us escape when we were trapped in the Doc's lab." The guard for before, Malek spoke up.

"He's right. I think we could use their help. It's what Jackson agreed with as well." The Doc added.

I could tell he was less hesitated but he was still wary of me.

"Look, we should be the ones questioning you for kidnapping Lara and I but Colleen has a plan to help us win against the vampires and I trust her. We don't need any more people from our sides getting hurt" This time Kian said to him.

"He's correct. I can use my magic to form a barrier against vampires to help you get to the weapons storage area but it will only last for a bit."

This time, Lexi stepped in front of an annoyed and hesitant looking Tyler. "Ok. Tell us what you need." She said agreeing to the plan. She seemed to trust us and I was glad.

We all stood around a table with a map of the entire building as Lexi explained to us where the weapons storage room was.

"It's just one level below us. If we can get access here and clear the way we should be able to stop them." Lexi pointed to a point on the map.

"From the surveillance camera's its seems like the vampires are surrounding this area. If we can get a team passed them we should be fine." said the Doc.

Colleen spoke to this time, "My protection barrier is strong but it will not be able to hold for long if there is a lot of vampires trying to break through. Casting a barrier is a very powerful and challenging spell usually preformed by multiple witches as it requires lots of magic. With the help of some of Lara's blood I will be able to create a small protection barrier for you but we are going to need a distraction in order of it to be able to hold long enough for us to make it to the weapons area."

"I can play a distraction." Jade said piping in.

"Jade are you sure? Wouldn't it be best if I play as a distraction. I mean it is me who they want." I said.

"I'll be using ur blood so the spell will be tied to you. So it's probably better Jade goes out." Colleen said.

"Don't worry boss. I'll be right! They won't know what knocked them!" Jade said tryna pump herself up.

"Me and Ben can join her. That way she won't be alone." Rosie volunteered and Ben agreed.

Kian nodded at them in appreciation.

"Okay, we'll be as quick as we can be and we will come find you guys." I assured them.

They all nodded.

"Here's a gun if you need it." Lexi the hunter, said nonchalantly as she handed her gun to Jade.

Part of me was taken aback by her kind gesture, who would have thought she'd trust us.

Jade looked down at the gun and smirked. "Pfft I don't need a gun to kill a vampire. I've got these." She joked, barring her canines and claws as she made her way to the door. Her eyes glowing bright.

I internally shook my head at her attitude.

My best friend never missed an opportunity to show off.

"We'll be in contact." Kian said to them.

And with that the three of them, Rosie, Ben and Jade, shifted into their wolf form and bounded off into the corridor making as much noise as they could to signal to the vampires.

Sorry it took me soooo long to post a chapter!! I promise I haven't forgotten about this story
