Chapter 40: Chapter 36

The Luna's AwakeningWords: 28314

There was a loud crash that came from one of the dorm rooms upstairs.

Jade glanced nervously at Rick, who just shook his head sadly. "We should leave him alone for a bit, he's been quiet since we left the Hilton Nightclub."

Rick, Colleen and Jade sat in the lounge room, a mutual silence passed between them. The kidnapping of Lara and Kian had taken a toll on everyone.

Nick had been quiet the entire ride home from the club, it was almost frightening. His usually bubbly, goofy charming self was now replaced with a dark, silent, fuming and concerned Nick.

As soon as they had gotten home Nick had gone straight to his room upstairs. He had been silent up there for over an hour but now a few crashes and loud thumping could be heard now and then. However, no one dared disturb him.

Although Nick was friendly and all he was still a protector and was stronger then a normal wolf. The energy he radiated and his strength came close to the same one of an Alpha.

An angry protector had the potential to be very dangerous if they couldn't control themselves.

"You reckon he'll be ok?" Jade asked concerned.

"Yeah he's going through a hard time, we should let him blow off steam. It's not easy for him." Rick said patting her on the shoulder.

Suddenly Cody and Ben walked into the room.

"Everything is under control. We've done our best to calm everyone from both packs down after the word spread. Definitely wasn't easy." Said Ben, Kian's beta, as he claimed a seat next to Jade.

Jade's heart did a little flutter as she tried to keep her cool.

"Yeah, everything is running smoothly, the warriors are on high alert in case we need them and I've upped the number of wolves on the patrol team." Added Cody, who was in charge of the patrol teams and (Nick's best friend), as he took a seat on the couch across from them, beside Rick.

Rick leaned forward, propping his elbow on his knees as he seemed deep in thought.

"I don't think we should have many vampires crossing into our territory, as the True Luna isn't here, but it's a good thing to stay on high alert as a pack is weak without its alpha or Luna." Rick said to them.

"We need to discuss a plan of how we are going to find Lara and Kian. We don't know where the Hunters took them."

"They have to be located somewhere in this town."

"I think I can be of help with that." Colleen pipped in. "I can use a tracking spell on her and Kian. But I'll need the help of my coven to preform the spell as it requires a lot of power."

"That's great, Colleen." Rick said cheerfully.

"The Northern pack has also agreed to help us out if we need more warriors here or to help with the rescue of Kian and Lara." He added.

All of them nodded.

Suddenly the doors opened as Nick walked into the room.

"I've just received word that the council have written us a letter, requesting a meeting with The True Luna and me." He announced to the group as he walked in.

He leaned up against the desk Colleen was sitting at.

He seemed surprisingly normal now which made everyone look at each other confusedly.

"John is on his way back now with the letter. The council don't know though about our current situation." He added.

"Why would they want to meet you and Lara?" Jade asked, worried.

"The council is unsure about the safety of our kind's knowledge and they want to know whether they need to take action against her or with her. Some believe she's a threat since she is so powerful and could take over the werewolf council, while have heard whispers saying she's the only chance left we have of survival and she's also a link to the moon goddess."

"Plus you know how the bloody council are, they're a bunch of old wolves who want nothing more than to be in control and have power over everything and everyone. They don't like knowing someone has more power than them." Rick said in annoyance and with despise towards the council.

The werewolf council was known for being very powerful. They were like their own indestructible pack, full of very old wolves.

Colleen had a hard look on her face as she looked at the small table everyone was sitting around.

The memories of a war that once took place a long long time ago flashed in her mind.

She thought it would be best to tell the the story, "Most of you probably don't know this story but around the time before the Dark war with the witches happened, the True Luna, at the time, went dark and became corrupt. She threatened to take over the council and she was as close as anyone had ever gotten. She hurt many along the way. But somehow something happened and she changed. She found light and saw the purpose she was meant to serve. She ended the Dark Witch War but the damage she had done before hand was too serious that the Moon Goddess was forced to remove the spirt from within her....she lost her life in the process. Ever since that incident the werewolf council have been extremely wary about True Luna's."

"What do we do then? We can't deny the request of the council. Should we tell them what's happening?" Asked Cody.

This time Nick spoke up, but he looked at everyone in the room. His dominant side coming out. He looked serious and determined,

"We say nothing. We will find Lara and get her back before the council get suspicious. With the help of Colleen and the witches we will find her and Kian. I know she is strong and will be able to do everything she can to stay alive for the time being but she's can't get out alone, she needs her pack."

Murmures of agreement where heard across the room.

"So, here's the plan..."

Lara's POV

Ughhh my head, it hurt like a bitch.

I could feel hard, smooth yet cold floor as I laid on my back.

I opened my eyes, only to hiss when I was blinded by the bright lights surrounding me.

Where am I?

I looked down at my body and noticed I was wearing a long hospital gown that came up to my knees. My feet were bare as I wiggled them around.

I still had my bra and underwear thankfully.

Chills ran up my spine as the thought of someone undressing me and seeing my naked body came to mind.

It must be to ensure I had nothing that could be of use to help me to escape.

My thoughts from the events that had lead to this slowly started come back to me as I stood up.

Kian and I had been taken by Hunters. I had told Nick to leave and take the pack with him.

Nick. The look of hurt and betrayal on his face when he realised I had chosen to risk my life to go back for Kian rather than going with him.

He must hate me right now. I've put him through a lot of pain.

I had to get back to them. I had to find Kian.

There is still a war out there and we have to stop it, Lara. Spoke the spirit in my head for the first time. I almost had forgotten her presence.

She sounded defeated and tired.

You should have listened to me. Now we are in danger here and I can't do much to help. She didn't say it in an angry way more in a sad way.

'I know but I couldn't leave my mate.. and what do you mean you can't be much help?' I responded in my mind

Sometime as the True Luna we have to make sacrifices.

I can't help you much because of that thing around your neck. It's designed to keep your wolf within you, including your powers, block them from coming.

Remembering how someone had placed the collar, my hand instinctively went to touch it.

Don't touch it she warned just as I stopped myself at the last minute from touching it. It will shock you if you touch it.

I recalled the memory of the collar sending a wave of pain as I got electrocuted earlier.

I signed frustrated.

For the first time I looked around to take in my surroundings. What is this place?

I was in a room surrounded by bright lighting, cream coloured walls and a large thick glass barrier that gave me a view of an empty room with a computer and large space.

Probably to keep me detained while others watch from the outside.

I felt like a zoo animal.

To the humans I probably was. A person who they would take the pleasure of experimenting on and observing.

This no doubt seemed like one of the buildings owned by the Hunters.

Where were they keeping Kian? Was he even still alive?

I noticed a door to my left which seemed to lead to the other empty room.

It didn't have a handle or anything. I tried rammed my shoulder into it, but it wouldn't budge. When that didn't work, I tried kicking it open. Each kick I mustered as much strength within me as I could. I felt the collar around my neck start buzzing, warningly, as it threaded to electrocute me sensing my wolf close to the surface. I hissed in discomfort.

It didn't open though. I made a small dent but other than that it did nothing.

I let out a frustrating groan. "Open the door!" I yelled angrily as I banged on it, but nothing happed.

This room was so well secured that not even someone like me could escape.

How am I going to get out of here?

By the looks of it there was only one thing I could do to get out of here and that was to play along with them.

I had to show them I was not a threat. Colleen had mentioned that the Hunters where not very familiar with True Luna's history so they might know much about my purpose and powers.

Suddenly my ears pricked up as the sound of a door clicking open on the other side of the glass caught my attention.

I observed as the same chestnut haired girl from the club, a guy with lots of tattoos who looked around my same age and the man with pepper coloured hair that I'd seen as well, walked into the room.

I walked to stand in front of them as I observed them through the glass. My glass room was a little more higher up, like a stage, so I had to look down at them slightly as they looked up.

I narrowed my eyes at them as a way of showing them I wasn't afraid.

The guy with the tattoos snickered.

"You're finally awake. About time." The older man chuckled. His voiced was heard through a speaker in my cell as he spoke from the other side of the glass. His voice was confident and collected, it almost sounded amusing.

He moved to stand closer to the window. "You where out for quite some time. You almost had us believe we electrocuted you to death." There was a small smirk that played at the end of his lips. I had to contain a low rumble bubbling inside me.

The girl with chest nut hair made her way to stand behind the computer. Her fingers danced along the keyboard furiously, her eyes darting around the screen.

"Sir, her condition is stable now. Her vitals are at full health." There was a small pause as her eyes narrowed slightly. "It's incredible it's as if her body recharge itself completely over night, that's the fastest recovery we've ever seen in her kind." She reported to him in what seemed like fascination as she continued typing.

The man's left eyebrow jumped slightly as he smiled. "Impressive."

Just as I thought, they were studying me.

Annoyed, I decided to speak up. "Where am I?"

"You are at the largest facility compound, located coastal to the city, owned by the Human's Supernatural Defence League, also know as Supernatural Defence, or how your kind might know us as Hunters."

The man made his way to stand along side the chestnut haired girl as he leaned down next to her to peer at the computer screen.

"Fascinating. Lexi send these test results to the Doc, I want her to see if she can find out more about how her body healing capacity is so fast."

"Already on it sir." The chestnut haired girl named Lexi smiled.

The man looked at the guy with the tattoos as he spoke, "Tyler, do you have the control with you?"

"Just as you asked sir." He smirked, his arms crossed as he waved the small black control under an arms.

His eyes looked like he couldn't wait to inflict pain. Like he was hungry for it.

Out of the three of them Tyler had been the one who seemed like he hated me the most. His cold glares didn't stop and I could tell he was still on high alert by the way he stood with his legs hip width apart.

The man turned to look at me as he looked pleased, "Good."

"Where's Kian and what have you done to him?" I growled my anger starting resurface.

"Oh the other Alpha wolf? Don't worry he's still alive." The man chuckled slightly before adding, "I'm sure the doc is having fun with him."

I hissed, baring my canines at him unable to control myself. The collar did a small buzz as it sent a small wave of electrocution. It was bearable but it was enough to send the message.

I looked at Tyler and he smiled coldly at me. His smile said do-that-again-and I'll- shock- you -harder.

Control yourself Lara. Don't give them what they want. I told myself

The man came to stand closer to the glass, his arms crossed. " You see, it's been a while since we've had an Alpha of your kind. Hunters are usually bringing in rogues since they are weak but they never last long. However now, an Alpha on the other hand, is able to withstand more. The results Kian has show are by far more then we have received from any another rogue wolf. He's a fighter that one though. Managed to rip an arm off one of the Doc's helpers." He said amused. This time his voice went lower as he added, "He's learnt his lesson though."

I balled my hands into fists, feeling the skin break beneath my nails.

Control yourself. Control yourself.

I moved them behind my back so they couldn't see.

Instead I just mustered the coldest glare I could give him.

Violence and anger wasn't gonna solve this.

No

If I wanted to get out of here I had to act like them. I needed to be calm, collected and reasonable.

I'd only tell them what they needed to know.

"I'm assuming you want answers."

"Ah I think we are on the same page now." He said sarcastically but there was a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

"How about you start of with telling us why you were with the Vampire Prince Dorian? Where you striking a deal with him?"

"No. I didn't know he was gonna be the one at the club. All I knew was that there was word on the street about an important Vampire in town. I was hoping it would be Eric but it turned out to be Dorian."

"And what exactly where you after then?"

"Their location. I need to find Eric and kill him before he becomes too powerful and over takes the human civilisation. It's why I was chosen as the True Luna. It's the reason why the moon goddess gave life to a True Luna in the first place."

Something in his eyes changed. It was like he was surprised from my answer, but he quickly hid it.

"They say you're the True Luna and that you have this.. purpose? Tell me more. How do I know you're not planning to kill Eric and become the ruler yourself?"

"A True Luna's purpose is not to become the ruler of all supernatural but to restore balance on this earth. It is my job to eliminate anything that may pose a threat to that and right now it's Eric. He's building an empire. The number of vampires is increasing drastically and if we don't stop it will be too late. Which is why you have to let me out. Let me return to my pack and put an end to this." There was determination in my voice.

The man looked down, he seemed deep in thought as if he knew I was telling the truth and was debating it.

"Commander Jackson, with all due respect, we shouldn't trust her. She could be hiding information from us." Said Tyler as he looked at me skepticly.

The man, Jackson, looked back up at me.

"We both want the same thing here which is peace." I said softly trying to show him I wasn't a threat.

"If you want me to trust you. You need to tell me more about yourself. We don't have much information on True Luna's, apart from that they are so rare and powerful, so you need to fill us in. Back there at the club you seemed to radiate this energy that released a powerful force. Do you have supernatural abilities?"

Do I tell them?

If I tell them they could use it against me, I won't have a leverage.

But if don't tell them. There is high chances they won't trust me and I need their trust right now.

I clenched me jaw as I fought whether to tell them or not.

"Yes." I breathed.

"What kind of super abilities do you have?"

"The same as normal werewolves except more enhanced. I'm faster and stronger than any normal alpha or Luna. What happened back at the Club was the first time something like that has happened. I'm still learning to control my abilities."

"So you do have more? Back at the club I saw you melt through the metal chain net made from wolfsbane like it was nothing." He raised a questioning eyebrow.

"Yes. I have the ability to summon heat to my hands and my resistance to wolfsbane is stronger than normal wolves."

"Do you have any other abilities."

"I can control the elements of life. Water, Fire and wind. It's the True Luna's gift."

"Anything else I should know?"

I can't let them know about the power my blood holds because I know for a fact they will use me as a blood bag if they knew my blood could be use for humans to heal anything.

They also must not know that if I am killed my powers are transferred to the killer.

"No."

"Very well."

There was a knock on the door before it opened and someone peered in.

"Commander Jackson." He called before looking at me and then back at the man who I assumed was called Jackson. He nodded allowing him to continue.

"there is movement in the east 10 mins away. I think you should check it out."

"Alright. Prepare me a team. We leave in 15." He said looking at his watch as he turned to walk towards the door to follow the man at the door.

Frustration started to bubble up inside me.

"Tyler, take her to the Doctor May. She's been dying to meet her. It's been good talking to you Lara. I look forward to doing it again." Jackson called out humourlessly as he turned to smirk at me.

"No you have to let me out off here!" I shouted as I smashed the side of my fist into the glass but it was too late, Jackson already disappeared behind the closed door.

"Please you don't understand! You can't keep me here!! I have to leave. I have to stop the vampire King before it's too late!" I shouted at them angry.

The chestnut girl Lexi and the tattooed guy Tyler looked at each other unbothered by my outburst.

Tyler turned to me and scoffed. "Don't expect me to be as soft as Jackson cause I will use this if I have to." He smirked. A dark, arrogant, hungry look in his eyes.

Before I could even register the pain I collapsed to my knees as my body shook uncontrollably from the shock running through me. I clenched my teeth together, holding in my scream.

When the pain stopped I was gasping for air. One hand fell against the glass window as I tried to balance myself.

"And trust me... I will." He said smirked satisfied at the sight of me in discomfort.

"Tyler don't forget we need her alive." Lexi said to him in an annoyed tone, like she was use to this.

"I'm just having some fun Lex." He said in a taunting voice.

She sighed, half shaking her head at him as if she wasn't bothered dealing with him today.

She disappeared around the the corner before suddenly appearing at the door of my glass cell.

I looked up at her through cold eyes as I assessed her.

I could take her out and then make a run for the door.

She gave me a hard look, as if reading my mind. "Don't you even try. Outside those doors is a highly trained team with orders to sedate you if you escape." She said as she pulled out some hard odd looking rubber gloves.

She saw my eyes looking at her gloves that came up to her elbow. "Oh don't worry these are just so I don't get electrocuted when Tyler shocks you."

The pain suddenly returned angrier than ever. I let out a grunt and I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block the pain.

I felt a hand grab my arm and try haul me to my feet.

"Tyler I need her to be able to walk." Lexi shouted out to Tyler.

He chuckled softly, "Sorry she looked like she was gonna make a move on you."

But I knew he just did that to see me in pain.

She rolled her eyes at him, clearly thinking the same thing I was.

"Unless you'd rather carry her."

"Oh no trust me this is why more fun." He said in a low deep voice.

Ugh how I wanted to rip this think off my neck!

Before knew it Lexi bought my arms behind my back and hooked hand cuffs around my wrist. I hissed at the slight burning, tingling feeling.

"It's titanium steel coated with wolfsbane. You might feel a slight burn." She said giving me a slight smirk.

The pain was manageable thankfully. I'm not sure if they knew that I had a better tolerance to wolfsbane than a normal wolf.

I just looked sideways giving her a cold annoyed snicker.

Lexi was right. As soon as we stepped out the door, a group of about 10 hunters all dressed in black leather with guns where standing outside the corridor and surrounded me in a defensive way, like I was gonna attack any second.

Lexi nodded at them giving them the all-clear sign.

As Lexi guided me down the corridor and Tyler walked along side me, while the hunter's surrounded us like a circle.

I part of me was please to see that they took me seriously and very dangerous.

I found my body starting to become weak. It had been ages since I'd eaten or drunk anything and it was starting to hit me now. My vision was slightly blurry and my steps faltered a bit.

I noticed as we passed people they all stopped to stare at me and whisper to each other.

"That's her."

"Apparently they caught the True Luna."

"Wow, she's not what I was expecting."

I just clenched my jaw and held my head up high, staring forward, showing them I wasn't afraid of them.

This compound was huge. There were so many doors and corridors going in all different directions.

I tried memorising my surroundings but it was no use it all looked the same. Shit

I had to find Kian. They said they were taking me to a see the "Doc". Jackson said that was were Kian was. Hopefully I could find him to see if he was ok.

After what felt like a million turns, we made it to what seemed like a Lab room.

"We're here." Lexi pointed out in a monotone voice.

"You guys can wait outside. We'll be out in a bit. Tyler ordered them." One of them nodded at him.

Lexi shoved me inside, almost making me stumble over my own feet.

"Ahh finally! This must me the famous True Luna. My name is Doctor May but most call me Doc, and you must be Lara." A mature looking woman in her 40's with slick red- brown hair in a ponytail welcomed us.

She wore the signature look of a scientist/ doctor; a white long lab coat as she held a clip board with a sheet of paper she had been scribbling on.

"Tyler, Lexi." She nodded at them.

"Where would you like her Doc." Lexi asked her.

"Bring her around, I have everything ready for her." She said smiling as she walked deeper into the lab.

I saw from the corner of my eye Tyler picking up an instrument that looked like some sort of weapon in the form of a gun.

"These are looking good Doc. Can't wait to test them out in the field on some blood suckers!" He howled enthusiastically.

At least we both had a common enemy

"What are you going to do to me." I asked the doc warily as Lexi guided me to follow the Doc, her grip still firm on my biceps.

"Oh don't worry I'm just going to run a few tests" She said.

"The Alpha has been a bit uncooperative recently so it will be good to run tests on another wolf."

My heart froze as the familiar smell of must, cologne and mint hit my nose.

It was Kian's scent.

As we walked past a room, I saw through a large glass window, Kian as he laid strapped to a bed, unconscious and connected to hundreds of wires that had substances both leaving and entering his body.

There were other people in white lab coats that seemed to be recording things down as they surrounded him. He had a large incision running down his chest and stomach, which had been stitched back together. I also noticed his right hand wrapped in a bandage where one of his fingers was missing. His beautiful face had a dark purple bruise surrounding his bottom left jaw.

At that very moment something in me clicked. I went from being calm and collected to pure red, hot anger.

I didn't care that my collar was buzzing frantically as it sent more and more shocks.

My wolf within me was seething.

She wanted to be let out to be along side her mate.

I screamed and growled as I managed to break free from Lexi's grip. In one swift motion I ripped apart my cuffs.

"Fuck!" Lexi grunted. "Doc watch out! Get out of the way!" She shouted just as the Doc quickly disappeared out of my view somewhere in the corner.

Lexi made an attempt to grab me but I quickly pushed her out of the way and sent her flying back into one of the nearby tables. A loud clang rang around the room as she hit a metal table. She let out a grunt and cursed under her breath.

I felt my teeth sharpening as I snarled. I ignored the shooting pain of the collar, I had too much adrenaline pumping in me. I could feel my wolf trying to break free from the being locked up inside me but the collar was going crazy.

If I kept trying I'd pass out.

I heard a shout from behind me and noticed Tyler in the back come running in.

I don't have much time.

I had only a couple seconds before I would be detained.

Seeing my chance, with all my strength I smashed my fist against the glass separating me and Kian. The glass didn't break but it formed a large crack.

"Kian! Kian wake up!" I cried out desperately. Tears of desperation and frustration were blurring my eyes as I continued to bang on the window.

I felt strong arms wrap around my body as they tried to pin my arms behind my back.

Tyler cursed under his breath as I punched and thrashed around violently.

There was a ringing in my ear now from the pain of the collar. I continued to cry out Kian's name but it was no use he was not waking up.

"What have you done to him?! Let him go!" I shouted to no one in particular.

Suddenly I felt a sharp jab on my arm. I turned to see the Doc standing there holding a syringe in her hand.

"This should sedate her." She muttered.

My legs gave in immediately and I felt my body crumble to the floor as I continued to curse at them helplessly.

Tyler still had a grip on me as he kneeled down on the ground with my numb body in his arms.

"Should have known she would lash out. Can't trust these mutts. You good Lex?" He called out.

"Yeah, should be right. She has some crazy strength." She grunted coughing slightly.

My eyes fell shut and the last thing I remember was saying Kian's name.

~~ Lara's Dream~~

Kian.

I have to escape

I felt like I was walking but I was going nowhere. I don't know where I was. It's was pitch black.

"Lara." A familiar female voice called out "Lara can you hear me sweet?

"Colleen? Is that you?" I asked, my voice willed with hope.

I tried to look around but I was surrounded by complete darkness. I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face.

"Yes it's me. I'm glad this worked."

"Where are you? I can't see a single thing." I panicked.

"You are unconscious. I'm in your mind. The witches from my coven are helping me contact you through mind link but this process is very draining so I don't have much time."

"Colleen I have to escape. They are hurting Kian! The hunters, they'd are much more advanced than we predicted."

"Lara, we need you to tell us were you are and what you know. Nick is doing everything he can to find your location."

"I don't know much. They knocked me out on the way here. All I know is that they are located coastal to the city and we seem to be surrounded by heaps of trees and Forrest."

"Ok good! We will look into it. In the mean while stay safe Lara, help is on its way."

"Colleen. I you have to hurry. Kian-"

I held back the tears.

".. they are doing terrible things to him. They are hurting him. It's only a matter of time before I'm next. They have put this collar on my neck which is stopping my wolf from coming out and me being able to use my powers. Colleen.. I don't know what to do." I said exhausted and drained.

"Lara right now the most you can do is stay safe, get as much useful information as you can about them and stay alert until we manage to find you. I know you can look after yourself, trust your instincts. Don't worry, I promise we will get you out of there."
