Just then, Auroraâs phone buzzed. Lyndaâs name lit up the screen. âSorry, Aurora. Iâve got an impromptu meeting. Can you meet me at the third teaching building instead?â
âOkay.â
After asking a passerby for directions, Aurora made her way to the third teaching building.
She arrived just as class let out, and a crowd of students spilled into the hallway. Aurora moved to the side, careful to stay out of the flow, her eyes drifting down to her white sneakers as she waited.
âHey, Dunn!â
In the chaos of overlapping voices, Aurora caught that one sentence distinctly. She turned toward the sound and spotted a figure she could recognize anywhere. That dark hair, the commanding presenceâDunn.
He stood tall, his posture effortlessly straight, a backpack slung over one shoulder with a laptop inside. His composed demeanor set him apart from everyone else, making him stand out even in a bustling crowd.
Lionelâs voice broke through the hum of activity. âAre you busy this afternoon?â
âMy advisor needs help with some data analysis,â Dunn replied, his tone steady. âIâll be busy all day.â
âTsk! He really does favor you!â
âIs there something you need?â
âNothing much. I was just thinking of grabbing a drink with you. Never mind since youâre swamped.â
Lionel waved him off good-naturedly and disappeared into the thinning crowd.

âLook behind you.â
Dunn froze, staring at the screen, a flicker of disbelief crossing his face. Before he could process it, someone lightly tapped his shoulder with their fingertips.
He turned, his heart skipping a beat. Aurora stood there, her hands tucked behind her back, a playful smile on her lips. âWhat a surprise, Dunn.â
âWhat are you doing here?â he asked, his tone softening in a way he couldnât control.
âI came here specifically to see you,â Aurora replied, her eyes glinting with mischief.
Dunn coughed lightly, attempting to hide the faint smile tugging at his lips. âNext time, let me know in advance.â
âWhy?â Aurora pouted, her lips curling into a teasing smile. âWorried Iâll catch you chatting up girls?â
Dunn let out a soft, exasperated sigh. He reached out, grabbing her wrist. âIâm worried youâll get lost. Next time, let me know in advance, so I can pick you up.â
While the rest of the class was dismissed, Lynda was asked to stay behind by her professor.
In the large, empty classroom, she stood with her head down, like a child being scolded.
