Molly instantly ducked behind Lucas.
Dunn, clearly amused by Auroraâs flustered expression, leaned in and whispered, âDonât worry. When Ryland gets back, Iâll take everyone out for dinner.â
Aurora huffed, crossing her arms. âWho cares?â
âI do,â Dunn replied, his tone suddenly serious as he gently took her hand. âIf I donât show proper manners, how will they feel comfortable entrusting you to me?â
Aurora opened her mouth to retort, but Molly peeked out from behind Lucas, her hands clapping together as she started chanting, âKiss! Kiss!â
Auroraâs face turned crimson. âMolly, if you donât stop causing trouble, youâll regret it!â
Molly shrieked dramatically, darting behind Lucas. âDunn, hold her back!â
Dunn held his hands up, a slight grin tugging at his lips. âSorry, I canât control her.â
Aurora stormed up the stairs, her cheeks still flushed as the groupâs laughter echoed through the house.
The once-quiet night erupted with the sound of their playful banter, bringing life to the peaceful neighborhood. Amid the clamor, Aurora failed to notice that Rickey had called her several times.
She took the time to introduce Dunn and the others. After the introductions, Aurora ushered the little troublemakers off to bed. She turned back to Dunn. âShouldnât you be heading back too?â
Before he could respond, Molly poked her head around the corner. âWhatâs the rush? He can stay the night! Donât worry, Mom and Dad arenât home. You guys canââ
Lucas, quick to act, gave her a light smack on the head and clamped a hand over her mouth. âCarry on, you two. Sheâs just drunk on juice. Ignore her.â
ðⱯð ððνðð ð.ð¸ððº, ð¶ððð ð¬ðð¶ð ðððð ðð Dunn had already pieced together Mollyâs mischievous personalityâso different from Auroraâs calm demeanor. Lucas, despite being the same age as Aurora, struck Dunn as the most mature and perceptive of the group.
Kalel had cornered Dunn with enthusiastic discussions about his latest business ideas. Sariah, ever the star-struck fangirl, peppered him with rapid-fire questions about celebrities and entertainment gossip, leaving Dunn hopelessly out of his depth.
Michael and Dulceâs twin boys, however, were mercifully too young to join in and had long since fallen asleep.
It was a rare and heartwarming experience for Dunn. The house was filled with life, reminding him of what family could feel like. Somehow, blending into their chaos felt effortlessânatural, even.
âIâll head back now,â Dunn said, glancing at his watch. The faint hues of dawn were already beginning to streak the horizon.
Aurora nodded and walked him to the door. Just before he got into his car, Dunn reached out and pulled her into a warm embrace. âIâll see you at Dugruayae University.â
Aurora felt her heart skip a beat, but she quickly understood his meaning. She smiled softly and nodded before replying, âOkay.â
