âNever.â
How could Bobby possibly change? He was a notorious playboy, potentially capable of settling down, yet his yearnings remained as potent as ever.
Previously, his many relationships had catered to his needs, but now Fannie was his sole focus, her presence fueling his relentless desires.
True to his promise, Bobby later phoned Michael.
Upon hearing the details, Michael questioned, âIs this another one of your schemes with Jett?â
Bobby hadnât expected Jett to approach Michael so soon. âWhatâs going on?â
âHeâs warned me to ensure Dulceâs safety, or else to steer clear of her entirely.â
âIsnât that straightforward?â Bobby quipped playfully. âJust bring her over, pamper her like royalty, and let Jett deal with that.â
âCan you quit throwing around such outlandish ideas?â
Bobby genuinely didnât see his suggestion as outlandish. Without it, Dulce might very well end up at Fannieâs. âThis would actually be good for Dulce. Sheâd love it.â
âDrop it. Now that Shawn and Katherine have a son, theyâre too busy to entertain your antics. Youâre causing trouble again.â
Thankfully, Fannie was there to rein Bobby in. Otherwise, heâd likely spiral out of control.
âJust ensure that Dulce doesnât show up at Fannieâs,â Bobby asserted.
âWhat about Adrian?â
âHe and Joelle are swamped. Theyâve just heard about Ryland and have traveled abroad again. They wonât be back for days.â
Michael considered whether Bobbyâs suggestion was really the only viable option. But inviting Dulce over seemed overly intimate, didnât it? Would Dulce perceive his invitation as an overstep?
Deciding to give it a shot, Michael dialed Dulceâs number.
To his relief, Dulce accepted his invitation without hesitation. âCould I bring my things over after work?â
A warm flush spread across Michaelâs cheeks and heart. âUh⦠yes, that would be fine.â
After the call, Michaelâs heart thrummed unevenly. He sat, hands clasped, lost in thought.
Johnny entered to hand over a document and noticed Michaelâs distraction. âMr. Frye, are you feeling alright? You seem a bit off lately.â
âNo, Iâm fine.â
âAlright, Iâll leave you to your thoughts then.â
âJohnny,â Michael called out, stopping him. âWhat exactly is your relationship with Dulce?â
Johnny offered a friendly smile. âWe are simply good friends.â
âThat day at the hotelâ¦â Michael trailed off, not finishing his thought. Dulceâs easy acceptance had sown seeds of doubt, making him feel as if heâand possibly Johnnyâwere being manipulated.
Johnny quickly clarified, understanding the implication. âMr. Frye, I hope thereâs no misunderstanding. That day, I accompanied her to meet her mentor, Hodge.â
âOh, so thatâs the explanation,â Michael responded, his cheeks coloring slightly.
Wait, Hodge? Why was another man involved?
âAre she and Hodge particularly close?â Michael queried.
