If Bobby didnât keep a level head, heâd attract the attention of the other occupants, and this potential scandal might just become official within seconds.
Pressing her lips together, Fannie grabbed a fistful of his collar and dragged him outside.
âWhy are you stopping me?â Bobby rolled up his sleeves. âHe couldnât win you over, so he messed with Judie! Iâm going to beat the life out of him.â
Fannieâs expression remained calm. âAre you mad that she slept with him and not you?â
That was all it took for Bobbyâs burning fury to mellow, as though poured over with a bucket of cold water.
He snapped out of scowling and finally looked at Fannie. âIs that what you think?â
âThen what?â Fannie retorted. âJudie and Mayer, the two people involved, arenât worried. Me, as their manager, isnât either. Youâre the only one losing your mind here. So, enlighten me. What exactly are you so upset about?â
âDonât get your wires crossed.â
Bobby wasnât upset because he had any romantic feelings for Judie.
She was the sister of his good friend, and he always protected her like a sibling. How could he not get upset after knowing she had been taken advantage of?
âThen pull in your horns. Your agitation isnât helping. Once youâve calmed down, weâll go back inside and discuss what to do.â
At this point, Bobby couldnât care less about Judieâs mess and focused his attention on Fannie. âDonât get the wrong idea. Nothing is going on between Judie and me.â
âI know.â
Fannie realized it when Mayer said it was Judieâs first time.
She just hadnât expected Bobby to be so childish, thinking that staging a rumored romance with another woman would win her back.
Luckily, he picked someone straightforward like Judie as his fake love interest. Fannie would have been utterly shattered by the betrayal had Judie been deceitful and conniving like Selma.
âWeâll talk about that later. Are you calm now?â
âYeah.â
âThen letâs head back inside.â
When they returned to the room, they found Judie on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket up to her neck, grimacing. Mayer was crouched down on the floor, picking up the broken pieces of glass Bobby had knocked over earlier.
The four of them sat on the sofa in tense silence, their faces more pensive than before.
As Judie and Mayerâs manager, Fannie took charge of the situation and spoke first. âSo, what are your plans now?â
Though spunky, Judie was really all bark and no bite.
She hadnât thought of what to do next after sleeping with Mayer. Honestly, she didnât really care. Mayer was the one making a fuss, insisting on taking responsibility for popping her damn cherry. They could just easily move on from this as two consenting adults.
Judieâs miffed gaze flicked to Mayer. âI know you donât like me, and I donât expect anything, so letâs just leave it at that. Problem solved.â
