A tearful smile appeared on Adrianâs face as he spoke to Joelle. âHear that, Joelle? We have another daughter.â
Joelle whispered weakly, âLet me see her.â
The doctor cleaned the newborn, checked her vitals, and gently handed her to Joelle. âSee, she looks just like you!â
Overwhelmed with emotion, Joelle could hardly believe she had another wonderful daughter. âAdrian, see? Aurora will be thrilled to have a little sister.â
âI know, youâve done something amazing,â Adrian replied, his gaze still fixed on Joelle.
He kissed Joelleâs forehead, and in turn, she kissed their newborn daughterâs forehead.
They savored a quiet moment of contentment together. As the news of Joelleâs safe delivery spread outside, cheers filled the air.
Katherine, previously anxious, now felt a surge of relief as Shawn embraced her. âNo need for tears now. Youâve just been through so much.â
Even as he spoke, redness tinged his own eyes.
Bobby turned his gaze to Fannie.
In that instant, Fannie was overwhelmed with emotion.
She never fully grasped the toll of childbirth; her anxiety on the outside was intense, but Joelleâs struggle inside was unimaginable.
âWhatâs on your mind?â Bobby offered her a tissue.
Realizing her emotions had gotten the better of her, Fannie smiled. âItâs nothing; just admiring the incredible bravery all mothers possess.â
Bobbyâs smile disappeared as a thought crossed his mind.

Fannie noticed his change in demeanor, but by the time she looked at him, Bobby was already staring into the distance, muttering to himself, âShe endured so much pain to give birth to him, yet she didnât raise him. She has no right to be called a mother.â
Confused, Fannie asked, âWho are you talking about?â
Bobbyâs lips tightened, and he paused before responding, âItâs nothing.â
It was the first time Fannie had seen a newbornâso delicate and tiny, and a bit wrinkly on the face.
Many said how much the baby resembled Joelle.
Bobby rolled his eyes. âYou guys are overreacting. How can you possibly tell the resemblance this early? No offense, but the baby looks like an infant baboon, just a tad lighter.â
Katherine clicked her tongue. âThe room isnât locked, Bobby. If youâve got nothing nice to say, weâd be more than happy to see you out.â
Bobby shrugged. âIâm just saying the truth.â
Shawn chimed in, âWeâll say the same thing when he has kids of his own.â
Bobby fell silent and noticed Fannie giggling on his side. âIs this funny to you? Whose side are you on?â
Grinning, Fannie took a step back and stood next to Katherine. âDefinitely not yours.â
