As Fannie and Jettâs argument escalated, Dulce returned. Even though Jett was her brother, she could clearly see his faults in this dispute.
âJett, stop this now! Release Fannie! Sheâs never had feelings for you. You imposed this relationship on her!â Dulce interjected with fierce determination, ignoring any potential backlash as she guided Fannie towards the car. âGo on, Iâll handle things here.â
âThank you, Dulce. Would you mind apologizing to your parents for me?â
âDonât worry about it. This mess is Jettâs doing.â
Contemplating for a brief moment, Fannie admitted, âWell, Iâd be lying if I said it was all on himâI have my own shortcomings too.â
âForget it. Let your history with Jett end tonight. And donât forget, you owe me one now!â
âBest friend!â Fannie exclaimed with a warm smile, patting her heart. âI owe you big time, next roundâs on me.â
âLetâs not wait for a next time.â Dulceâs eyes darted around, checking for eavesdroppers, before she leaned in closer, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. âWhy donât you and Bobby get a little closer, infiltrate their gang, and then introduce me to Michael?â
Fannie was amused by Dulceâs words. âDulce, thereâs absolutely nothing going on between me and Bobby, and itâs time you let go of your fixation with Michael.â
âCome on, whereâs the harm in trying to meet someone adorable? After all, you did just call me your best friend. Are you really going to leave me hanging like this?â
âFine, fine,â Fannie conceded with a laugh. âIâll see what I can do, no promises though!â
Dulce finally relaxed, her smile brightening as she took a step back. Fannieâs car rolled away, its tail lights vanishing into the twilight.
gⱯlnÏνeðsâ¤com has the stories you love Turning, Dulce caught sight of Jett charging towards the door, his face twisted in rage. Her heart pounded with fear that Jett might lose control. She reached out, clutching his arm. âJett, where are you going?â
Havenât you had your fill of drama today? You know you were at fault hereâ¦
âGet out of my way!â
Dulce, having never witnessed Jett this incensed, dared not further inflame his fury. With shaking hands, she stepped aside. As Jettâs car sped away, Dulce dashed back inside the house. âDad! Mom! Something terrible is happening!â
Jettâs destination wasnât to chase down Fannie. He was out to confront Bobby.
It was a common misconception that only women possessed intuition. Men were also gifted with a sixth sense. Jett was convinced that Bobby and Fannie had been together in the neighboring bathroom stall. Although he and Selma had betrayed Fannie, did that justify Bobby and Fannieâs actions?
Bobby had meddled in his relationship, and for that, Jett was determined to settle scores.
He burst through the door of Flex Clubâs private room with such force that the revelers, lost in the rhythm of the music, scattered in panic. Jettâs glare was so fierce that although someone hurled an insult his way, a meeting with his lethal stare silenced any further words.
âGet out. All of you.â
