âIs the baby healthy?â Katherine had asked, her voice weak but filled with concern.
Joelle completely understood her feelings. When she had just given birth to Aurora, her primary concern had been the babyâs health as well.
âKathy, focus on getting better. Let my brother and the nanny take care of the baby. Right now, youâre the familyâs priority,â Joelle reassured her.
Katherine had regained some of her strength and looked much better than the day before. âJoelle, Iâm alright. Just make sure youâre careful these next few months.â
âAlright. Donât worry. Adrian is more vigilant than I am!â Joelle said, a playful smile tugging at her lips.
Just then, Bobby appeared, laden with gifts. Unable to visit, many of their friends had sent their well-wishes and presents to the hospital.
The gifts Bobby was holding came from Rafael and Allie, his parents, and Fannie. Originally, the Finch family had considered contributing their own gifts but ultimately decided against it. It was well-known in Illerith that the Finch and Miller families had a strained relationship, often avoiding joint appearances at events.

Teasingly, Katherine added, âHeâs not ready to let go of Fannie. Just yesterday, she asked him to send her regards, and he purposely declinedâjust looking for an excuse to bump into her again.â
âCrafty move, Bobby!â Lily laughed, clearly enjoying the moment.
Approaching nonchalantly, Bobby grabbed some of Katherineâs chocolates. He was savoring them when Shawn suddenly yanked him aside.
With a raised eyebrow, Joelle questioned, âBobby, whatâs your angle? Pursuing someone elseâs girl isnât right. Fannie isnât single.â
âYouâre talking about Jett?â Adrian interjected.
âIâve met him. Heâs respectable. It makes sense Fannie chose him. It shows she has good judgment,â he continued, his tone thoughtful.
Shawn nodded in agreement with Adrianâs comment.
âJett, though?â Michael added, his voice casual from the couch.
âI wouldnât praise him too much. Iâve been around some people from the film crew lately, and word is heâs getting cozy with a young starlet. Looks like heâs spending money to boost her career.â
Confused, Katherine replied, âBut isnât that actress managed by Fannie? Could Jett be doing that to help her?â
Bobbyâs expression was a mix of mockery and indifference. As the conversation turned to his personal matters, he remained coolly detached, seemingly unaffected by the discussion unfolding around him.
It wasnât until Aurora walked in after school to see the newborn that the groupâs attention shifted away from Bobby.
The next morning, when Fannie arrived at work, her boss was unusually thoughtful, personally delivering her coffee.
âDid I hear correctly that you secured some slots on Amyâs variety show?â he asked, a hint of curiosity in his tone.
