âI know you will. Iâve always believed in you, Selma.â Selma smiled warmly.
âThank you, Fannie. By the way, about the web series Mr. Lee mentionedâ¦â
Fannie paused, her eyes hidden behind sunglasses. A heaviness settled in her chest as she thought about Jett and the tension between them.
Selma continued, her voice tentative, âIâve read the script, and I really like it. Plus, itâs the lead role.â
Seeing Fannieâs lack of immediate reaction, Selma pressed on.
âFannie, you know Iâm struggling financially lately. I need to make more money. My momâs in the hospital, and my brotherâs tuition is dueâ¦â
âI know,â Fannie replied reluctantly. âAlright, go ahead and take it. Your schedules donât conflict anyway.â
Selmaâs worried expression softened into a wide smile as she hugged Fannie.
gⱯlnÏνð®ðsâ¤com is where magic happens âThank you, Fannie. Youâre the best!â
At the film set, both Fannie and Selma knew the ropes.
Hundreds of films were shot at this location every year. The site served as the backdrop for a variety of movie genresâhistorical dramas, contemporary series, war films, and idol dramas. In fact, about eighty percent of the countryâs domestic film and television productions were filmed here.
Fannie and Selma passed by a crowded filming crew, making it impossible to see the actors on set.
âFannie, I heard a veteran actor is among the cast in that crew. Letâs take a look.â
Fannie agreed, and Selma eagerly pulled her along. Meeting a respected actor would be a great opportunity to get noticed and build connections.
âStop. What is this? Now even people with glaring plastic surgery can be on TV? Sheâs hired to model for us, not to endorse some bizarre face enhancement procedure!â The voice from the group made Fannie stop in her tracks.
Selma stood on tiptoe to get a better view.
âHey, isnât that Mr. Kelly?â
Fannie didnât need to stand on tiptoe to confirm. Sitting in front of the monitor were two people: the director and Bobby. Sporting an aquamarine shirt and black spectacles, Bobby chewed gum while nitpicking at the actress on the monitor.
Admittedly, the actress did show noticeable signs of excessive cosmetic surgery. Unfortunately, as the executive producer, Bobbyâs opinion could influence the entire production.
Smiling apologetically, the director said, âIâll get another model right away, Mr. Kelly.â
âFind someone photogenic, not these manufactured faces.â
âGot it!â
Fannie couldnât stand hearing more of Bobbyâs obnoxious remarks. She turned to Selma and said, âWeâd better get going. Director White is waiting for you.â
âWhat? But I havenât found that veteran actor yet. Oh, there he is!â
Selma dashed toward the famous actor like a fangirl.
Bobby turned around, hearing Selmaâs voice, and immediately followed the direction she came from. His eyes locked onto Fannie as if drawn by some magnetic force.
