Katherine gave a soft chuckle, shaking her head. âReminds me of Shawn. Give it a few months; heâll settle down.â
âI sure hope so.â
Katherine inquired, âHow are Rafael and Allie managing?â
âTheyâre doing quite well,â Joelle replied with a slight nod. âCaught up with them during my trip overseas. Allie has really stepped up, tackling parenting alongside Rafael every day. Theyâve decided to keep the baby close, which I think is wonderful.â
Lily and Ferris were busy slicing fruit in the kitchen. They had just started living together and were incredibly close. Given the challenges marriage could present, they had opted to live together first to see how things went. To their delight, they adjusted to shared living quite seamlessly. Ferris even brought Lily home to meet his family, hinting that wedding plans might not be far off.
Joelle once thought this house was rather spacious, but now, it seemed every corner buzzed with the energy of lively guests. A smile tugged at her lips as she silently thanked Adrian; their teamwork had paved the way to this moment of bliss. At that moment, Shawn and Adrian approached, draping coats over Joelle and Lily.
Turning to Adrian, Joelle whispered affectionately, âHoney.â
âThank you.â
Adrian, having endured months of solitude, was always keen to seize any moment of connection.
âPerhaps later tonight.â
Shawn was mulling over the same thing. Separated by the length of the couch, the couples leaned in to share low, private words.
As the clock edged towards midnight, Michael made an entrance, Aurora cradled in his arms.
âWhenâs lunch ready? Aurora canât wait much longerâsheâs starving!â
From the kitchen, Leah, adorned in her apron, reassured them.
âNearly there, just a moment more!â
Callan quietly donned an apron as well, eager to pitch in. Katherine peered at her watch.
âHas anyone seen Bobby and Fannie?â
With a shrug, Joelle answered, âFannieâs dealing with some personal stuff, so sheâs out. As for Bobby, Iâm not sure.â
Katherine snagged Shawnâs phone.
âIâm calling him. Itâs unacceptable to have us all on hold.â
The phone barely rang before Bobby picked up.
Katherine asked, âWhere on earth are you? Everyoneâs here waiting!â
âI wonât make it. Carry on without me.â
Katherineâs brows knitted in frustration. âWhatâs going on now?â
Bobby shot a quick look over his shoulder at the woman in the bed, a hint of irritation creeping into his tone. âJust leave it for now. Iâm in the middle of something here. Iâll fill you in later.â Ending the call, he turned to confront the woman. âAre you going to keep quiet about who sent you?â
