âYou bastard! Are you hooking up with my wife?â It was Kaleb, Linaâs ex-husband.
Recognizing him, Katherine rushed inside.
But it was too late. Shawn and Kaleb were already going for each otherâs throats. Shawn easily overpowered Kaleb and hit him back unabated.
Kalebâs mother went after Lina and hurled a loud slap across her face.
âYou shameless tramp! What kind of wife are you, leaving your daughter behind and sneaking around with another man while youâre in the hospital?â
Lina wanted to fight back but was too weak to defend herself. Kalebâs mother yanked Linaâs hair while Shawn pinned Kaleb to the floor.
Seeing the violence before her, the little girl burst into tears, confused and fearful.
When Kalebâs mother saw her son at a disadvantage, she released Linaâs hair and frantically looked around for a weapon. Spotting the fire extinguisher, she hurried to grab it.
Kalebâs mother swung at Shawn but missed as Katherine leaped forward just in time, pushing her away.
âShawn, look out!â
Shawn turned at the sound of Katherineâs voice. Though caught off guard, a smile broke across his face.
âWhat are you doing here?â
Did she follow him here, or was it a coincidence prompted by fate?
Katherine, however, kept a serious expression. She pulled Shawn out of harmâs way and faced Kalebâs family.
âShawn has nothing to do with your family issues. Touch him again, and youâll have to deal with me.â
Kaleb wiped the blood from his mouth, not taking Katherineâs warning seriously. With resentful eyes, he pointed at Shawn.
âDonât forget that Lina is my wife. Youâre just feasting off my leftovers when youâre sleeping with her!â
Shawn scoffed amusingly.
âMe, sleeping with her? Thatâs bullshit. My girlfriend is right here, and Iâm faithful to her.â
âYour girlfriend?â Kaleb finally took a proper look at Katherine, who held up her hand to show him her wedding ring.
Kalebâs anger grew. He spat blood on the floor and pointed at Lina. âSo, this tramp seduced you?â
Without warning, he grabbed her hair and pulled her to the floor.
âI knew it! After all this time, youâre still hung up on Shawn!â
The little girl ran over and clung to Lina, crying hard at seeing her mother treated this way. Kalebâs mother kicked Lina from behind.
Lina yelled, âWhy are you doing this? Weâre already divorced, Kaleb!â
She was answered by a heavy slap to her face.
âDonât think I forgot why you were with me in the first place!â Consumed by rage, Kaleb slapped Lina repeatedly.
